Purported death

[edit]

@Youknowwhoistheman Do you have an actual WP:RS on his alleged death? The Turkish site claims that he was found dead, but it seems to be a tabloid ("Shocking claim!") and doesn't even fully say that he's dead, only that there is a claim. Cedar News only gives a sentence, and might not meet WP:BLPRS due to its potentially biased position. Unknown-Tree🌲? (talk) 21:43, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah sure, there are many reliable sources. 1, 2, still need highest reliable source? Best! Youknowwhoistheman (talk) 21:49, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The second article does not mention Momika at all, and is about Stockholm whereas he has already left for Norway. The first one again says that there are only claims about it, and thus it's not enough for it to be construed as fact. There are plenty of hoaxes about deaths, and until we have a reliable source confirming that he is, in fact, dead, it should not be added to the article. Unknown-Tree🌲? Maybe you are right, I did it too quickly. We should wait for a WP:RS. Youknowwhoistheman (talk) 21:58, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please bear in mind, Turkish Muslim brotherhood tabloid is not a reliable source.
Translation was right. "It was a claim", and as a Turkish speaker I can confirm it.
Please revert and wait for a WP:RS. Flāvidus (talk) 22:06, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Norwegian authorities are not aware of Momika's death."... This online source seems to be some right-wing extremist publication, but right now it could well be an April fool's.--Eistreter (talk) 10:54, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Remove part claiming the person is found dead in Norway. Its fake news without any reputable sources 2001:2020:4341:E0BF:0:0:12BD:2129 (talk) 08:15, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It has also been reported by a non-state affiliated journalist on Twitter, using the name "IranObserver0”, and I'd imagine that journalists not under governmental control, may be more reliable and faster off the mark than waiting for state news agencies like IRIB to pick up the story. Might be worth waiting though. Dane|Geld 08:51, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A close friend to Momika, Salwan Najem claims that he's alive and that he cannot appear due to the security implications involved since he went to Norway.

IranObserver0 is a propaganda page run by Iran. It has spread multiple false and fake news against Israel, and Western countries and has been community noted multiple times. Steveonsi (talk) 10:37, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Structure of article and titles of topics

[edit]

I've just made minor changes to the structure of the article as it was unorganized. I'm not sure however about the titles of the topics "Background" and "Activism". Perhaps "Early Life" is more fitting than "Background", and instead of "Activism" maybe it should just be titled "Life" or "Life and Activism". If you have any thoughts on better titles or a better structure, please share them. Thewildshoe (talk) 13:37, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please add his death

[edit]

His death was now confirmed by the Norway Government. https://m.economictimes.com/news/international/world-news/salwan-momika-death-iraqi-refugee-who-publicly-burned-quran-multiple-times-reportedly-found-dead-in-norway/articleshow/108962594.cms TamilProphet (talk) 14:18, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article does not contain any confirmation by the Norwegian government, it's still just a claim. FWTTVK (talk) 14:51, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic language article deleted by Arabic community

[edit]

Salwan Momika is article which is available in 11 languages, and it's strange that it's not available in Arabic (سلوان موميكا), especially that it's an article about an Arabic person. It turns out that the Arabic community, which is predominantly Muslim, keeps deleting Arabic articles about that subject because he is an Islam critic. The reason they all voted for is that the subject is not "notable", but the real reason is otherwise. Plase help re-create this article and stop this bias to keep Wikipedia an unbiased space for all of us. Jimmyp84 (talk) 05:20, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
