Does anybody else have a problem with this?
"During the Warsaw Uprising the nuns gave refuge to civilians in the church and cellars and in August decided to open their rooms to the wounded insurgents in their convent thereby breaking one of the basic tenets of their faith."
I don't know the circumstances of what they did. I vaguely understand they died horrible deaths for their charity. But "basic tenets of their faith"--presumably they were Catholic; I can't imagine what basic tenets of the Catholic faith are violated by offering hospitality and care to the wounded. I have to wonder if what they did was simply to suspend some of the rules of their order, towards a higher purpose.
Unfortunately, when I've looked into this on line, I've found exactly the same phrase word for word, over and over. I suspect everyone's copying them from here. 72.83.149.204 (talk) 19:39, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza[reply]
OK, first, since this statement appeared twice, word for word, I removed one of the statements as redundant. Second, I changed the remark about "breaking a basic tenet of their faith," which is almost certainly not true, to say that they suspended their rules to open their rooms to the wounded--which I suspect is what the writer meant to say. 72.83.149.204 (talk) 00:34, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza[reply]
