Age of Church

[edit]

The assertion that St. Mary's is the second oldest church in the city needs clarification. Is it the the second oldest church structure or the second oldest parish/congregation? Goldnpuppy (talk) 19:01, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's neither the second oldest church and probably not the second oldest parish, either. Toronto has many congregations from the early 19th century, and dozens of churches built before St. Mary's in the late 19th century. However, I should point out that I'm having some difficulties finding the year of completion. I've seen 1885 noted in one source, as well as 1889 and 1899 in others. It was probably completed in stages, definitely in the late 19th century (not 1852). A.Roz (talk)
