Lock Stock

[edit]

I don't remember any boxing in the film Lock Stock. I think you mean Snatch by the same director in which Brad Pitt played a bare knuckle boxer.

Brother

[edit]

Says in his lede that he is the brother of a plasterer. Not seeing the relevance so removed but a contrary editor keeps putting it back in with personal motivation. His edits need to be checked, I think. --89.211.65.21 (talk) 05:42, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

McCallum Fight

[edit]

The description of the McCallum fight reads: 'Collins was supported by a large crowd of Irish Americans as he battled the champion McCallum, with the fight being close early on before McCallum started to tire as Collins gained momentum in the later stages to bring a close finish at the end of 12 exciting rounds. McCallum got the win by unanimous decision.' This makes little sense. McCallum won by scores of 118-110 and 117-111 (two scorecards). Those are sizable margins yet the text states that the fight was close early with Collins gaining momentum in the later rounds. The implication there is that Collins was even with McCallum in the first part of the fight and better in the second part. The scorecards do not support this, nor does the fact that McCallum was the superior fighter, especially at middleweight. I'll try to find newspaper stories about the fight from that time period.
