Died in Catalina crash, wreckage now found

[edit]

Ping Jevansen who started this page. According to this footy forum (so not a WP:RS)

"King was posted to No 20 Squadron as an Intelligence Officer and was killed when A24-25, a Catalina from No 11 Squadron, is presumed to have crashed in the sea on 28 February 1943."

That plane has been found, and its 'identity' now confirmed:

"...first discovered in 35m of waters ... in 2013",
"Plane wreckage found off the Cairns coast is from a World War II Catalina crash that killed 11 airmen in 1943, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) confirmed today." [1]

Per above source:

"Flying Officer Stuart Patrick King, age 36" is listed as being onboard. 220 of Borg 08:10, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
