Hello, I am going to review this article. It looks good so far, but work will need to be done to get it to GA-Standard. It is Mid-importance to WikiProjects involved, so I may be picky. I will be comparing it to the GA Berkelium compounds to get a guideline of what a GA-Class compound article should look like. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 09:55, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Feel free to message me on my talk page with any concerns related to the GA Review. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 17:52, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- Note: I have also nominated Europium compounds. 141Pr 12:48, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
Initial Comments
[edit]Since these initial comments all require a decent amount of work, I am not going to putting more comments for some time. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 16:22, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- While I appreciate that terbium compounds may not have many applications, I still think there should be more detail in the Applications section. You could compare the applications of terbium compounds to the applications of pure terbium or terbium alloys. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 09:59, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- While detail has been added to the applications, it still feels lacking. More information is still needed to get it up to standard. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 18:28, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Please can you give you me some examples of things to add onto the Applications section? 141Pr 16:50, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- Done as per below. 141Pr 13:36, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

- Maybe a sortable table of terbium compounds (like in Samarium compounds) could be included, although Template:Terbium compounds may have sorted this. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 10:12, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Template:Terbium compounds only has the oxidation states of terbium in the compound, not giving specific information like space group, lattice parameters .etc. I will make a draft here ASAP. 141Pr 10:48, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
- I cannot access all the references needed, so I might require some assistance. 141Pr 20:34, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- Which references can you not access? InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 18:29, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- I can't find any references on any of the grid spaces. 141Pr 08:53, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Check the individual articles to see whether you can fill blank spaces. Even if you cannot access the full references, you can still check their abstracts and get information that way. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 09:26, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- The information I have added is mostly based on the individual articles about them. 141Pr 09:37, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Not all of these need to be filled. However, I think the color, space group and density columns should be filled as much as possible InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 17:34, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

- There is not much detail on Organoterbium compounds. I think some information about them should be added. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 10:15, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Done (although it is quite short and I'll add some more later) 141Pr 20:29, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- More detail is needed on several compounds. While I appreciate that some compounds are less frequent and studied, detail needs to be added or made more consistent. Start with adding detail about the acetate and pnictides. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 09:53, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- I have already started about pnictides in my userpage here. And the acetate doesn't really stand out. 141Pr 10:48, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
- I have done the acetate but still working on the pnictides. Will do rest later. 141Pr 14:23, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Keep adding more referenced detail on each compound while not being too lengthy, and make the information consistent between compounds. I have emboldened this because it is currently the main issue. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 18:33, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Compare the properties and applications of terbium compounds with other lanthanide compounds. Use Template:Lanthanide halides as a starting point for halides. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 10:04, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
More Comments
[edit]- The citation needed tag on the last sentence of the organoterbium section will need to be addressed. It can probably be covered by one of the existing refs in that section. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 16:37, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- Done I've changed the {{citation needed}} template for an existing reference. 141Pr 18:43, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- Copyedit the existing information in the article by checking for spelling, grammar, punctuation and superfluous words. Once this is done I will pass that particular criteria. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 16:40, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- In the lead, it says that terbium compounds have applications in optics, but that word is not explicitly mentioned in the Applications section. A bit of explanation will be needed, either in the lead or the section. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 17:33, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Done This use is now stated in the applications section. 141Pr 16:20, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- Put some wikilinks for compounds in the lead. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 17:41, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Done except for Tb(CH3COO)3 and BaTbF6. 141Pr 10:01, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
- The citation needed tag about terbium borate reactions should probably be addressed. It says terbium borates, so either the plural should be removed or the different terbium borates should be explained. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 17:41, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- Done Changed citation needed tag into ref and changed plural into singular form. 141Pr 20:19, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- The Oxgenated Salts section needs some signposting and better navigation - split each compound into a separate paragraph and possibly make subsections. Explain some terms used in there. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 10:25, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
- This will create too many short paragraphs, as not every terbium compound has a lot known about it. 141Pr 10:37, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
- Also, which terms? 141Pr 10:39, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
- I am just struggling to understand the language used in the Oxygenated Salts section, so I was thinking you could explain some things in there and also improve paragraphing/sectioning for increased navigability. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 09:29, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- I would say that we should rename this section "Other inorganic compounds" as this can include other compounds that are not necessarily salts. Shall I do this? 141Pr 14:19, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- I've changed the name to Oxoacid salts to conform with the other pages, but the question still stands. 141Pr 20:06, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

- Terfenol-D is a notable and interesting terbium alloy, so I was thinking more information about it could be added, and not just its applications. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 09:36, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- Done, Added an alloys section containg information about Terfenol-D and Victorium. 141Pr 15:09, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- If there is any detail about them, talk about terbium compounds that use radioisotopes of terbium. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 10:02, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- Not done I haven't really heard of terbium compounds that use radioisotopes of terbium. Even if they do exist, they won't be notable enough to put on the article. 141Pr 15:37, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- @InterstellarGamer12321: Anymore comments? It has been 2 weeks. Keres🌕Luna edits! 23:35, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- Apologies for the delay in reviewing. I am going to make a final comments section which will have the last things I want the article to have before I pass it. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 18:18, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Final comments
[edit]- Please add more information to the applications section. I feel like it should be big enough to be two paragraphs. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 18:21, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- What shall I add? 141Pr 12:35, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
- There is research to be done... Keres🌕Luna edits! 22:11, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- While I am not happy with the Applications sections, as soon as something is added I will pass the article. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 09:06, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done I have added information taken from Terfenol-D, and split the paragraph into two. 141Pr 13:35, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

- The third comment in the More Comments section about clarifying the lead/applications section should be completed before I pass the article. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 18:21, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done I have already done the third comment in the More comments section, but forgot to add the Done template. 141Pr 16:19, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- Check the alloys section and see where you can add references/information. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 18:21, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done I have added some references to the Alloys section. 141Pr 08:14, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
I am going to pass the article now. Well done! InterstellarGamer12321 (talk) 18:36, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Poor article
[edit]How can this be a good article? It contains quite a bit of poor English. So much so that that it leads to factual errors. In the table of compounds there are unit cell parameters for a b and c, but some are in nm and mostly they are in Å. So this needs to be made uniform. For monoclinic and triclinic you also need some angles for the unit cell, β; or α β γ; so these should be added also, even if it makes the table less tidy.
