August 2006[edit]

we should probably just merge this with the Diplomat Records page...

Agreed. Mad$ 21:26, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree this article currently needs quite a lot of rewriting/editing. -- A-ixemy 00:26, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation[edit]

Yeah there's an old soul or blues group called The Diplomats, so a disambiguation page would be appropraite, as well as an article for the "old" Diplomats. --A-ixemy 02:59, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

These guys sicken me[edit]

ALL this was just un-NPOV, totally meaningless, comments - which belongs in some forum and not Wikipedia (not the :talk pages either). Therefore I have removed it all......... -- A-ixemy 00:23, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hm[edit]

I must say, watching the page and discussion page get edited back and forth is pretty amusing

more cleanup needed[edit]

This article is in very bad shape. In particular, the "Current members" section is very confusing and impossible to understand.

My take is that The Diplomats are a music group. The "Curreent members" section, then, should list members of that group. I've deleted people who aren't members and are listed because they're signed with same record label as The Diplomats.

There's at least a couple that remain. A couple of artists are mentioned as being "Affiliated with The Diplomats", but their capacity in the group is not described. I think they should be removed, too, unless their roles can be clarified.

There are several passages that were written in heavy slang. I've simply deleted them, since they described releases and groups that are not from The Diplomats.

The section that starts "members were signed performers" doesn't make much sense to me; it seems out of context. The article doesn't give any indication what "became excusive" means.

Can someone help clean up these issues?

-- Mikeblas 01:40, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone put 40 Cal, Bugs, and Jha Jha in separate articles?[edit]

I think they deserve mention outside this article. Who's with me? -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tom Danson (talkcontribs)

There's not enough material in this page to form an article greater than a substub for any of those people. I'm against it; particularly when so much cleanup is needed on the article we have here now. -- Mikeblas 04:13, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

40 Cal must have his own article. Jha Jha should have a small page. Bugs is not very known...

Clarification[edit]

For those of you that do not understand it...it is actually quite simple.

There is a rap group called The Diplomats. They consist of Cam'Ron, Jim Jones, Freekey Zeekey, Juelz Santana, Hell Rell, J.R. Writer, 40 Cal., Jha'Jha, DukeDaGod, Jay Bezel, Chubbie Baby, S.A.S. and newly signed Katt Williams.

Also closely affiliated with The Diplomats are rappers Tom Gist, A-Mafia, Ash & Sen, Max B and Lil' Jah.

As far as Diplomat Records is concerned, all of THE DIPLOMATS are signed to Diplomat Records. A-Mafia is signed to Duke Productions/Diplomat Records. Max B is signed to Byrdgang/Diplomat Records. Tom Gist and Ash & Sen are not officially signed to Diplomat Records, but are considered to be affiliated members. Lil' Jah is Juelz Santana's nephew (Twin is his father; Juelz's brother) and also raps and is featured on mixtapes and albums.

There is an extended movement of DipSet involving the following:

Byrd Gang Records. This is headed by Jim Jones. Max B is signed here. NOE, Stack Bundles, and Mel Matrix are all signed here as well.

Santana's World Entertainment is headed by Juelz Santana and can be viewed as housing his small team of lil' Jah, Bezel, and Twin (even though Twin doesn't rap).

Writer's Block Records is headed by J.R. Writer and has rappers (Fred Money, Show, Blitz McBain), producers (Spectacular), deejays (DJ Plat), and promoters/a&r's/etc (Jus W.B., Nino, Scrilla).

Purple City Productions, which consists of Shiest Bubz, Agallah, Un Kasa, Alleyway, Ike Eyes, Den 10, Smoke & Numbers, Mike Boogie, and Enorm. Purple City has since branched to include Purple City Canada (members are Bricktop & Young Dutch).

The Senate is also a close affiliate, connected via Juelz Santana and Un Kasa. Un Kasa is a member of The Senate, along with Taj Mahal, Thump Mandoza, Sammy G, Louis Vuitton, Knight, TuneRaiders, Jus-One, Unstoppable, I.V., Middle Men, and G-Off Duty.

The TuneRaiders have a production company that is home to themselves and Blend King. They have also partnered with rapper, Justice, to form Supa Gang Records & The Fam.

The Eurogang & The Fedayeen Regime are rappers and producers with ties to S.A.S. The Eurogang consists of S.A.S., Haze, Baby Blue, D. Consigliere, Rephan and Bigz. The Fedayeen Regime consists of Rephan, Mr. Pork Dudley, Red Army, Sem, Dutchbeetz, Dutchbeetz Europe (76 Beats, 76 Beats South, Ruger, Young Rusha).

As far as other affiliates are concerned. The Diplomats have a Southern Label via Diplomat Records currently being established. Its first artist is Virginia native, Rabbi. They also have a pro-skate team, DipSkate (Mel Boogie, Johnny Blanko, Cali).

Un Kasa has Krayon Box Records which is home to Street Heataz & Family Comes First. Agallah has Propane Piff Entertainment which is home to Ghetto Rock Starz & Alexander Band.

Other affiliates include Luca Brazi of The Taliban. He is closely tied to The Diplomats and Purple City. Bugz of Tha Teamstas is closely tied with Juelz Santana.

I think there's some minor errors here. But at least it's a good overview of all the people involved, anyway.... But just to give examples - Well, I think *diplomats* the group at least in the beginning was just Juelz, Cam'ron and Jim Jones... Now, you might say it's those three, as well as Hell Rell, J.R. Writer, Freekey Zeekey, Jha Jha, Duke da God - and maybe Katt Williams. I'm not entirely sure about the status of Jay Bezel, ok, maybe he is part of Diplomats as well. 40 Cal, Chubbie Baby and S.A.S would be more like associated artists, I think ("In the movement" so to say, but not part of the *main* group). Also, I don't think Tom Gist is so closely affiliated with The Diplomats - isn't he british, and therefore part of Eurogang/Fedayeen? At least that's my impression.
That was just a couple examples based on what I know as correct. - A-ixemy 12:58, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you go to DipSetMixtapes.Com you can see a full roster which includes: Cam'Ron, Jim Jones, Freekey Zeekey, Juelz Santana, DukeDaGod, J.R. Writer, Hell Rell, Jha'Jha, 40 Cal., and Katt Williams.

Jay Bezel, Tom Gist, Chubbie Baby, S.A.S., DJ Moe Sticky, Ash & Sen, A-Mafia, and Max B ARE ALL OFFICIAL DIPLOMATS. Tom Gist is NOT from Britain, he is from HARLEM. The way the list is set up now is PERFECT. People need to stop adding their friends to the list because they don't belong there. DipSouth has no one confirmed. People are just adding themselves to gain attention.

Further Clarification[edit]

The Children Of The Corn was the first rap group Cam'Ron was in. Some view it as the foundation for DipSet. It was comprised of Digga (producer), Big L, Bloodshed, Killa Cam, Murda Ma$e, and McGruff.

Tha Riot Squad is headed by Stack Bundles and is affiliated via Byrdgang. It consists of Stack Bundles, Bynoe, Cau2g$, and Chinx Drugz. There is also a faction called Tha Riot Squad South.

Update[edit]

I cleaned up the discography to limit it to just Diplomats & Their Members' Releases. I included Byrd Gang & Writer's Block because they are so closely related. I updated the Members Section to have everyone who is in The Diplomats, Byrd Gang Records, Writer's Block Records, Santana's World Entertainment, DipSouth, and DipSkate.

Stop Changing It[edit]

Whoever keeps changing the discography and dipset family section is wrong and doesn't know what they are talking about. You have further confused people and distorted the coherence of the article. And I assure you that I know more than you do and please do not change it after I correct it this time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki-wiki1 (talkcontribs)

This article is a train wreck. I've fixed the poor formatting (that you're insisting is correct). If you want to discuss changes, please use the talk page for that conversation -- but posting "don't know what you're talking about" isn't conducive to a better article. -- Mikeblas 02:14, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

split?[edit]

I've removed the split tag. I can't see what needs to be disambiguated in this article, and the talk page doesn't contain any notes explaining why a split was suggested. -- Mikeblas 02:18, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Links to Terrorism[edit]

Prior to Diplomat Records Cam and Jim Jones named it Taliban Records but changed it due to pressure from their label. Prior to the commercial release of "Diplomatic Immunity" several underground releases refrenced Taliban records - which were also incorporated in the rhymes. Trajedy 10:01 06 Oct 2006

I've taken out the code which reads "particularly Mohamed Atta al-Sayed part in the September 11, 2001 attaon, rather than terrorism" because the formatting is broken. --Newshound 19:10, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Taliban means Crew in Arabic, it is nothing to do with the actual Terrorists Taliban!

Vandalism[edit]

Someone has vandalized this page talking about "gay orgys" and when I go to edit that out of the page, it's not there but it's still in the article. Can someone (who has the ability) please remove this. Thankyou. It's only shown when you click "The Diplomats" link on Jim Jones' Wikipedia page. - Anonymous. 11:00 EST 11/4/2006

Freekey Zeeky[edit]

I don't believe the two pages should be merged because once he makes his debut, he'll need to be established as his own artist and facts about him will come and it will be too much for the Dipset article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NJ Rock (talkcontribs) 05:34, 11 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Dipset Christmas[edit]

Should A Dipset Christmas be added to the group's discography?(casecloser 03:23, 26 January 2007 (UTC))[reply]

YES IT SHOULD...!!

...No, it shouldn't. It's a Jim Jones album. Fix this. Njgio 03:51, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diplomats or Dipset?[edit]

Looking at their more recent album covers, they now appear to be more commonly known as Dipset, rather than as The Diplomats. Should this be changed? Njgio 03:54, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NO BECAUSE THEY RELEASE ALBUMS UNDER BOTH...

DUKEDAGOD PRESENTS...DIPSET

THE DIPLOMATS - DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY

it said that for their first album. i think diplomats is the name of the label while dipset is the name of the group although im pretty sure there is no difference between the goroup and the label. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.103.176.124 (talk) 03:11, 3 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

POW LA DON & Ajay Ahluwalia[edit]

I dunno who this guy is, but he is NOT a member of DipSet or even affiliated. Also, please people stop adding Lil' Wayne, he isn't signed to them either.

Lil Wayne[edit]

He is not in DIPSET STOP ADDING HIM!!!

im pretty sure he IS dipset. he has many songs on the mixtape Drought 3 about his ties with dipset. if his NOT dispet than put him as dispet affiliated.

Vandalism[edit]

Someone edited all of the members' names to make fun of them. I changed them all back, please don't let this happen again and warn whoever did it.

He is NOT a member of Dipset, he is just pals with Juelz. Lil Wayne is with Cash Money/Young Money. (DipSetGeezer (talk) 22:00, 18 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Clean Up and Protection[edit]

I requested the page be protected due to the constant vandalism. It will be semi-protected for two weeks. I hope to have cleaned everything up by then. I also made a template for the Diplomats, not completely done yet but can pass by as complete, to work as a way to show all pages related to the Diplomats. If anyone is seeing this please help with the page. Also, can anyone help verify the various and sometimes unusual/questionable names of some of the members? thank you.--BaRiMzI 05:16, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Members of Dipset[edit]

Is Jae Millz really a member of the dips? I'm not so sure of that.

I'm prettu sure but dont have any proof, I'll look, I suggest you do the same. Oh, and please sign your comments.--_ BaRiMzI _ 06:04, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diplomat Members and discography[edit]

The members of the Diplomats and their affiliates are found on this page, please don't anyone remove this. Also, Since their whole discography can be found at Diplomat Records there is no need for it be re-added to this articles page. For that reason, I added a link to the page.--BaRiMzI 22:05, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Large list of affiliates[edit]

Okay, I just added in a large list of affiliates of the diplomats, i is complete and current(to the date) and most importantly, legitimate. All was referenced. If anyone doesnt want to see the list lets talk and maybe we'll put it somewhere else.--BaRiMzI 22:36, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cam'rom vs. Jim Jones Section[edit]

Should there be a section talking about the possible separation between the group with the recent "feud"/rift between Jim and Cam? If not, please feel free to delete this section, I was just wondering.

Jha Jha Leaving.[edit]

I understand it is sourced, and I apologize for removing it once. But according to what is stated, she was not signed to Dipset, so should she be included at all? --JpGrB 19:51, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edited Members Section[edit]

According to the Official DipSet Website (dipsetmixtapes.com) the members of The Diplomats are: Cam'Ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Freekey Zekey, Duke Da God, Hell Rell, J.R. Writer, 40 Cal., Katt Williams, and DipSkate. Former members include S.A.S. and Jha Jha. Jay Bezel, Chubbie Baby, and DJ Moe Sticky are also technically members of The Diplomats, but are lesser known. I left them out for that reason. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.176.14.100 (talk) 18:07, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jay Bezel isn't a "Former Member" as you said. He is a member of Santana's SkullGang. However, Jha Jha is a Former Member. She is now on Just Blaze's label, Fort Knox Entertainment. (DipSetGeezer (talk) 21:54, 18 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Where's Bigavell? He was a notable member, is on Jim Jones biggest commercial hit, and is currently in a prominent beef with Dipset. Furthermore he claims to have written all of Jim Jones rhymes. I don't know how true this is but it's odd he's not mentioned. Now excuse me, I'm about to blow me a dub. 66.167.234.37 (talk) 00:54, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New additions.[edit]

There is no source to say the group has official ceased in 2009. There are no sources for their "solo careers" either. Can you provide legit sources for these? If so, please do here before you again revert to the improper revision of the article. --HELLØ ŦHERE 13:13, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It says so on the Crime Pays article that "The Diplomats are no longer together". This is the source that mentions the breakup but I have yet to find the source which actually says that they've broken up. And also I was intending to revert it back because I could not find a way to make the article I was writing work. --Taylor Karras (talk) 13:17, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
From that source, all I can see is that he no longer wants to be associated with the group? And Wikipedia articles aren't reliable, especially seeing as it has the "cn" tag. Are there any sources that say the whole group is over or are they just that Cam isn't involved anymore? We can add that, but to say the entire group is done would be incorrect. Brian Wilson left The Beach Boys even though he was the leader, but they still went on. For now, why not start a sandbox? I can help (if you'd like), but then it can be worked on and not have to disrupt the actual page. --HELLØ ŦHERE 13:25, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and here are two more sources [1][2] which might help. Also mind if I politely correct you there, what I was doing was not vandalism. It was original research as I was writing a biography at 3:00 AM in the morning and I was doing to do the sources tommorow because I was tired and needed to sleep, and I was trying hard to ignore original research but most of my text might of been original research. Guess that wasn't the way to do it huh. Anyways I hope this helps you because I'm done trying to rewrite the article, I can't find any way to make it notable that doesn't include the albums they've released and what happened during those years or how they sorta broke up. It's like there's a vague history behind The Diplomats. Anyways good luck. --Taylor Karras (talk) 22:50, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Members[edit]

Okay, I'll try to explain this so people can understand. Cam'ron OWNS the record label. Unless you have a specific source that states that he isn't a member of DipSet, which I know you can't, he is a member of DipSet. There's really no room for debate. BGRuthless (talk) 02:13, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The record label and group are two different things. He's said numerous times "DipSet is over", to which every other members has said it isn't. Thus clarifying that they will continue without him. Now, this is from Miss Info's blog, not necessarily a reliable source, but Jim Jones says that they are "putting Cam on punishment". Now, Cam'ron may claim that they aren't together anymore, but as long as every other person says they are, that is what we should keep. And actually, Jim Jones, just recently said that no one person can claim that the group is over and that he is DipSet. --HELLØ ŦHERE 16:21, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And even in this source mentioned in a section above, Cam states that he is moving on, not anyone else. Just him. I'd say all of this is sufficient enough proof that he is no longer with the "group". The record label, on the other hand, is a different story. --HELLØ ŦHERE 16:26, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And the fact that he still yells "DipSet!" in all of his new songs means what? He isn't in teh group, it's just for fun? Y'all can keep it however you want, but in Harlem everybody knows who's DipSet and who isn't. I was just trying to make it right on the page. BGRuthless (talk) 02:13, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

J.R. Writer[edit]

I see no reason why he can't have his own page, he has albums and mixtapes and several guest appearances. he is signed to E1 entertainment and is currently recording, he meets the requirements for an artist page.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.38.33.180 (talk) 06:17, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

J.R. Writer Again[edit]

ok it's crazy that he has his own page in german and italian, but not in english. you can find his old page on Deletionpedia. There aren't going to be a great deal of peer reviewed articles discussing rappers so finding a lot of citations is always dodgy. you can quote websites but they might be wrong as well. maybe we should delete all rappers who've sold less than 5 million records? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.62.154.33 (talk) 21:12, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
