Fair use rationale for Image:Rascalscartoon.jpg

[edit]

Image:Rascalscartoon.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use drugs, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Two short cartoons missing

[edit]

I see that episodes 4 and 13 in the first season do not have the short cartoons listed. The two missing shorts are most likely "The Surgeon" and "Ice Escapades". Can anyone confirm and edit the episode list accordingly? JHVipond (talk) 22:25, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Four additional claymation episodes

[edit]

Our museum has found four additional claymation/color specials episodes. I have listed them in the article. Please post here if you require a confirmation, before removing these updates. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PavekMuseum1 (talkcontribs) 21:59, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Little Rascals (animated TV series)The Little Rascals (TV series) – There is no other TV series (or show in general) that is named "The Little Rascals". Per WP:NCTV there is no need in further disambiguation. Gonnym (talk) 09:47, 30 September 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. Flooded with them hundreds 16:52, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as per unnecessary disambiguation in this case. I'm honestly not sure why The Little Rascals (TV series) redirects to the disambiguation page – the original short films were just that, films, and their later syndication on television has no bearing. And the short films reside at the base title anyway... --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:49, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Yes, there were short films, but those were titled Our Gang, but when this was repackaged in more recent decades (which is how most people are aware of them), it used The Little Rascals title (see Our Gang#The Little Rascals television package). The proposed move would add extensive confusion. -- Netoholic @ 10:51, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Which can easily be dealt with by use of a hatnote... --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:22, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • I've read the section you linked, but those are still refereed to as film shorts, even on TV. Roach repackaged 79 of the 80 sound Our Gang shorts as The Little Rascals. Monogram Pictures and its successor, Allied Artists, reissued the films to theaters beginning in 1951. Allied Artists' television department, Interstate Television, syndicated the films to TV in 1955. --Gonnym (talk) 16:18, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
        • "Simple" confusion can be handled with a hatnote. Extensive confusion should be handled with clear titling. The short films were repackaged into what most people would think of and recognize as a television series. No, its not technically correct, but that is how most people who have seen this content have experienced it. Leaving "animated" in the current title is perfectly successful at communicating this to readers. -- Netoholic @ 11:24, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There's no "extensive confusion" here – use a hatnote, and it's a "two-click" solution. No big deal. --IJBall (contribstalk) 19:39, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone finding themselves on a page titled The Little Rascals (TV series) would be absolutely WP:ASTONISHed to find it wasn't about the live-action material. -- Netoholic @ 00:46, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone entering "The Little Rascals" into the search box will be shown to the base-title redirect at The Little Rascals first and will be taken directly to Our Gang. If that's wasn't the case, I'd agree with your point. But I don't think many people will even get to The Little Rascals (TV series) in order to be "WP:ASTONISHed", and those that do will be handled by the hatnote. --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:21, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But it was shown on TV as "Little Rascals" or not? In ictu oculi (talk) 21:30, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia conventions on this never cared what something was called later on by a 3rd party (as evidenced by the fact that the article is at Our Gang and talks about them being shorts, and not at Little Rascals and talks about them being a TV series). It was released as a film, it will always be a film, even if you show it on TV. Regarding your question though, the article says it was called that, but does not cite a source. --Gonnym (talk) 21:44, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Confirm oppose I think you're wrong there Wikipedia does care what things are called by reliable sources. Broadcasting : "Official Films Inc., New York, has acquired the distribution rights to the Little Rascals tv series from producer Norbert Auerbach. The series consists of more than 100 ...", Feminist Bookstore News 1996 "The series title, we've twice been told, is based on the clubhouse from the "Little Rascals" TV series from the 50s."
