fast path?[edit]

This article has only been edited by one person, and doesn't apper to ever have been reviewed. Yet it's featured in "Did you know?". Is that normal, to have unreviewed articles put into the spotlight? -- Mikeblas 19:32, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not against the rules (Wikipedia:Did you know) and it's not uncommon for DYK articles to have one major or exclusive contributor. However, if there is a problem with the article then please mention it as we would want to resolve that quickly. Greenshed 20:32, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Articles appearing in DYK must be no more than about 5 days old and, as such, most have been worked on by only one person. One of the beneifts of DYK is attracting hopefully helpful attention to a new article. I do, by the way, have a request pending with Mr. Mabaso for more bio information. That seems really silly, as it inherently leads to unverified "facts" being posted on the Wikipedia front page. Can you help me learn where I'd go to start working on changing this for the better? -- Mikeblas 14:41, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

tabards[edit]

When appearing in an official capacity, both Mabaso and his assistant Marcel van Rossum, Deputy Herald of South Africa, wear tabards

I'm not sure how I feel about this sentence. As far as I know, the tabards for both men were made expressly for the Congress last year. I'm not sure if they've worn their gear at other functions yet.--Eva ^bd 14:20, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Same person?[edit]

Are you sure that the Themba Mabaso who was a magistrate in 1999 is the same person as the current State Herald? AFAIK, the State Herald's background is in the art and museum and heritage world rather than the law. Arthur R

Excellent Question...is this a fairly common name in SA? I'm not sure how we could prove this either way. I'd go on your word based on your contributions to SA heraldry articles, but I'm not sure what the WP policy is if there is a source referenced...--Eva ^bd 20:30, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A quick surf through the internet has brought up seven people of this name: (1) the State Herald/former Deputy Director of the Jo'burg Art Gallery; (2) an animator and writer of children's books in Johannesburg; (3) a lawyer in Johannesburg; (4) a tyre dealer in Natal; (5) a doctor in Natal; (6) a music/record producer in Natal; and (7) a chief magistrate.

In the circumstances, it might then be better to remove the reference to being a chief magistrate, and the reference to the children's book, which was written by the animator/writer whom I've numbered (2). Arthur R 24 May
