[edit]they r not half brother and sister —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.217.158.84 (talk) 17:26, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Tell that to MTV. It's a reliable source. Click the link to MTV's article that was used to create that statement. You need to have a reliable source to dispute. Royalbroil 23:23, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
they share the same mother. so yes they are half n half S02178 (talk) 04:08, 11 August 2008 (UTC) Trace does not have tattoos on his arms or 'angel bites' Manson does. TimahT (talk) 07:02, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Parents
[edit]This article contradicts itself by stating Cyrus is the half brother of Miley Cyrus and is the “son of singer Billy Ray Cyrus.”, then later in the article claiming “they share the same mother, Leticia "Tish" Finley Cyrus. His biological father is Baxter Neal Helson” If they are half brother and sister then they can only share one parent. Which one is it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alicefay (talk • contribs) 06:51, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Billy Ray Cyrus did a step-parent adoption on Tish's kids [Brandi (b. 1987) and Trace (b. 1989)] when he married her in December of 1992. So he is Miley's half-brother biologically (they share the same mom) but legally her full brother (because her dad adopted him). Stephe1987 (talk) 23:02, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Correct. If that's not clear, then I did a bad job of wording the article and it needs some rewording. Royalbroil 02:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- He should be referred to as her brother, not half-brother, because of the adoption - Billy Ray is his father now. The link to his birth father is legally no longer in existence. The biological details of their birth parents is secondary to the legal one and how the two siblings refer to and think of each other. --NrDg 20:44, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Just to add, Trace Cyrus was born on the 24th of Feb not the 23rd. This is stated by him on his My Space. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.24.181.200 (talk) 16:12, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, I did find his birthdate on his official website to be Feb 24th, so I changed the article. Thanks for providing an official source. Royalbroil 00:32, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Personal Life
[edit]It should be "Trace Cyrus is the half-brother of Miley Cyrus", not "Trace Cyrus was born the half-brother of Miley Cyrus". He wasn't born the half-brother of Miley Cyrus because he is 3 years older than her- when he was born he wasn't her brother because she didn't exist yet. He didn't become her brother until she was born in 1992. --Tiff85 (talk) 02:33, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah that probably could be phrased better. Perhaps "Miley Cyrus was born the half-sister of Trace Cyrus". They stopped being half-siblings when Trace was adopted. Miley and Trace never use "half" when referring to each other and Trace calls and considers Billy Ray his father. "Trace Cyrus is the brother of Miley Cyrus" is a true statement. I think mentioning "half" is unnecessary in the description as the facts of his parentage and adoption are described. --NrDg 02:48, 24 November 2008 (UTC) --NrDg 20:05, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Also, Demi Lovato and Trace Cyrus aren't dating anymore, they broke up in 2008 due to a conflict in timetables according to trace/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maddiewaddie20 (talk • contribs) 21:39, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
This is absolutely correct! Demi and Trace did break up back in the beginning of 2009 and it is stated so in the link that is posted with that statement on the page. It should be corrected to say "Trace started dating Disney singer/actress, Demi Lovato, back in June 2008. However, they decided to end their relationship early 2009, due to scheduling of their tour dates and their 4 year age difference."
Trace Cyrus was born a young colt on a farm in Ashland, Kentucky. He had a brief relationship with Demi Lovato; however, the two broke up because it is illegal to date horses.
Son or stepson
[edit]Someone is stating that now he has been adopted he is only a son and no longer a stepson. I reread the description of stepfamily and I cannot agree on that, as 'legal' and 'kinship' ways of reasoning are not seperated here.
- legally an adoption changes the relation from 'no relation' to 'son'
- kinship wise the addition 'step' means his parent entered a new relationship; as they are now not suddenly divorced that bond still exists. And their relation is still a 'step' one.
Think of a grandparent that adopts his grandchild, legally they become parents and children. But kinship wise, they will forever be grandparent and grandchild. So he becomes a son and is still a stepson! As the description 'step' gives more direct information about the familyrelations it's a better description.--Eezie (talk) 22:33, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Kinship wise we rely on how the family refers to each other. We don't impose our beliefs on them. Legally Tish's children are as much Billy Ray's because of the adoption as they would be because of biology. The family NEVER refers to each other as anything other than father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter. "Step" and "half" are never used by the family themselves. We should honor how they consider each other. The law is not in conflict with that. How others consider them is not really relevant. Also per stepfamily they stopped being a blended or stepfamily because of the adoptions. Billy Ray is no longer a "legal stranger" to is wife's children. He is their legal father. Referring to his adopted children as "step" implies that he is still a "legal stranger" which he is not. Referring to Trace as a step-son when he himself does not think of himself that way is demeaning how he thinks of his relationship with his father.
- You say: "As the description 'step' gives more direct information about the familyrelations it's a better description" - I disagree - it is unnecessarily redundant for the lede as the information is fully explained in the article in the personal life section, adds nothing new, and is demeaning to the subject of the article. I think even "adopted" in the lede is unnecessary and it should just say "Cyrus is the son of singer Billy Ray Cyrus" and leave explanations to the personal life section. --NrDg 23:17, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Tats
[edit]Cyrus has many tattoos on his arms and chest, including the words "STAY GOLD" tattooed on his knuckles.
- Is this some kind of comedic understatement? He doesn't have "many" tats. The entire upper portion of his body, from the waist to the neck, including his arms, is one huge mosaic. The current article needs to be more specific. For someone whose entire upper body is completely covered in tats, "many" doesn't describe it. Apparently, from what I can tell from the page history, this section was written when he had less tattoos than he does now. Viriditas (talk) 14:42, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, so is the wording I'm looking for called a body suit? It does seem to cover his entire torso, so that's what it would be called. Now, we just need the right sources. Viriditas (talk) 14:49, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
- My thoughts exactly, just find a source. Royalbroil 14:52, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I just watched the new ITN interview again,[1] and it's not officially a body suit yet. His bottom chest and back have not been done yet, so it's very, very close to a full body suit but is not yet there. He does say he's "covered" in the interview, except for that part, so what I will do when I have time (or anyone can do it) is pull those quotes out and somehow use them. Viriditas (talk) 14:59, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
- So, to summarize, his torso is covered except for the bottom-half of his chest and back, and his hands which still have some skin showing. According to the video, this will be inked up soon. Viriditas (talk) 15:03, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

It is a body suit now. He's also said he will have his legs tattooed. (92.7.31.6 (talk) 12:42, 15 October 2011 (UTC))

Link to Metro Station
[edit]{{editrequest}} I clicked the link in this sentence "Cyrus was a guitarist and vocalist in the pop rock band Metro Station.[5] " and it took me to the Wikipedia article on the actual transit system, not the band!! Can anyone fix the link? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.54.41.208 (talk) 23:13, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Mother
[edit]Who is his mother his real mom?
- His REAL mom is the woman who raised him. Also calling him the "adopted" son is highly insulting. The Associated Press stylebook does not allow using "adopted" as an adjective or adverb. If you wish to address his adoption as a part of his biography, that's one thing. But he is every bit as much a son as a biological child. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.135.32.188 (talk) 19:41, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

There is another album that's been released by Trace Cyrus under the name "Ashland High": "Don't You Ever Leave My Side". I don't know of any record of release but the music can be found on this page: http://jetune.fm/release/171017/don_t_you_ever_leave_my_side/ Also, Metro Station has again disbanded but not before releasing the music videos "Young Again" & then "Bury Me My Love"; also before having released the album "Bury Me My Love". Trace Cyrus has also recorded the songs "Winter" & "Flipping Weight" with Zach Van Dyck (a music video for this was released)), & Stiches, respectively. He is featured on the song "Under the Moon" by Lancifer (with whom Trace Cyrus recorded the music video "Love at First Sight") & Jenny Unger, credited as "Trace Cyrus of Metro Station"; 2014 was when the video was uploaded to youtube. Trace Cyrus has publicly announced that he is no longer using the name Ashland High but instead his actual name "Trace (Dempsey) Cyrus" (the "Dempsey" not included) as his artist name. He has released a music video with DreamDoll featuring entitled "Summer", a solo music video for the song "Prescriptions", an official lyric video for a song "BRENDA", a lyric music video "WASTED ON LOVE"", "DON'T BELONG TOGETHER", "MOVING ON", & "LIGHTS OUT", all of which can be found on his Youtube channel.
