I was wondering if anyone knows exactly what the logo is and why it was chosen. It appears to be some kind of theatrical mask. . .

Neutrality???

[edit]

Does anyone else think that the article is written completely by Tudou? It seems like the page is advertising more rather than giving an neutral overview of the site...

Censoring

[edit]

Um... it says that all videos are reviewed, but the reference (#14) is from January 2006, and it says that about a dozen people sit around and watch all the new content... obviously with the 20,000 videos that are added each day (NB: that's apparently from a July 2007 survey, so now, July 2008 it'll presumably be much more) that's not really going to work so well... anyone know anything about this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.52.233.143 (talk) 18:29, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it worth mentioning about the censoring that is going on at this website? I tried to add the subject, but someone deleted it... Perhaps the Chinese government? Or staff of Wikipedia under pressure of the Chinese government?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.84.101.47 (talk) 08:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion the whole article is written by Tudou. I think the article should be semi-protected. It should be mentioned that Tudou contains many copyrighted films (e.g. new blockbuster). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.128.250.37 (talk) 15:56, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to test if there was censorship. I went on the website tudou.com (using firefox or safari) and I looked for videos about Liu Xiaobo, typing "刘晓波"(simplified Chinese) and the result is : http://so.tudou.com/isearch/刘晓波/ (error). I suppose this is due to censorship because when I type other words in Chinese or English, I get much different results... Other (this way) censored words are the numbers "六四" (6 4) which refer to the Tiananmen 4 june 1989 repression. You can type :"天安門大屠殺" (Tiananmen massacre -> no results of course) but you can't look for "六四运动" (4 june movements) nor "六四大屠殺" (4 june massacre), nor do any other research including the 6-4 combination, f.e. : "一九六四年" (year nineteen sixty-four). 14:43, 12 February 2011 (UTC)ChiuTaitai (talk)

Video Format?

[edit]

Does anyone have further information on the actual codecs, bitrates etc. used on tudou?

In the article it is stated that they are using 25fps and H264 since 2007, but imo the quality is just crap. I tried uploading a 320x240 xvid file with 29.97fps at a length of 4:09, once it was converted (after >5 hours!) I downloaded it and analyzed the file with ffmpeg. It appears it is just a flv file, no H264, and the framerate is 15fps.

 Duration: 00:04:09.06, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 8 kb/s
   Stream #0.0: Video: flv, yuv420p, 320x240, 15.00 tb(r)
   Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 22050 Hz, stereo, s16, 8 kb/s

From the filesize I can conclude that the avg. bitrate is 260kbit/s for video + audio. Not really what the article here suggests..

max file size

[edit]

someone want to write about the maximum file size that can be uploaded to tudou? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 23423324L234235235 (talkcontribs) 11:34, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is suggested on the webpage when I try to upload a video: 50KB-200MB via web uploader, 200MB-10GB via iTudou, a light software published by Tudou for downloading and uploading videos.Wo.luren (talk) 16:00, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am patrolling with Stiki and found that an IP user had removed the entire history section. I reverted it because there does not appear to have been any discussion about it. Andrew327 16:59, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
