Removing reference[edit]

I am removing this website as a reference (http://bowl.colian.org/chili-bowl/0.html) because it's a copy of wikipedia itself. How do I know? Besides the oddly familiar prose, the page also inexplicably includes my archived talk page! --D. Monack | talk 19:00, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Racist slant to 1960s section[edit]

The section on the 1960s had a number of sentences which had a racist slant, such as arguing that the area declined when racially restrictive covenants allowed African-American residents in, specifically mentioning African-Americans as the cause of the 1968 riots, and blaming white flight for the area becoming blighted. In fact, it was a largely African-American and prosperous area before the riots, and many of the merchants who moved out were also African-American. I've cleaned this section up somewhat, but it could use further edits, as well as additional sourced information. Dbalpert (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 20:28, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Is U Street the name of a street? If not, where does the name come from? This should at least be mentioned in the lead or the History section. —Frungi (talk) 03:13, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

U Street CorridorU Street – I believe "U Street" is the common name for the area, without it being referred to as a "corridor". In addition, U Street neighborhood/historic district consists of a greater area than just the one street corridor. There is also no need for disambiguation as U Street is a redirect. epicAdam(talk) 22:18, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
