Pioneer Generation

[edit]

First Generation or Pioneer Generation? It would be a stretch to call all of them pioneers. DKU did travel the Mormon Trail as a baby, and settled St. Johns, AZ, as an adult, though he wasn't the founder. JKU and WTS were born in the Utah territory. JKU did later settle Eager, AZ. WTS settled Alamo, NV in the 20th Century, well after NV statehood. Guess it depends how liberally you define pioneer.

Religion

Jack Mormons

[edit]

Can we get some kind of source on that trivia note, or is it just slander? With two senators elect and a recently defeated senator (at time of writing) this article should definitely cite it's sources for such comments. 12.207.6.251 (talk) 17:50, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Connington[reply]

Mormonism in lede

[edit]

Since Mark and Mo Udall are essentially "Mormon" by no more than ethnicity at most, my own stylistic sense is that the matter of the families' religious identity is best addressed further down in the text somewhere, not in the lede.

Please see Wikipedia's in-house style manual, Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies)#Opening paragraph: "Ethnicity should generally not be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability."

Contributors work to place mention of ethnicities throughout Wikipedia, which is fine, but the rule seems to be, for example, to relegate mention of the Williams family (viz Venus and Serena Williams's) Jehovah's Witnessesism down further in whatever the article or articles' text rather than right in their ledes, since the sisters' accomplishments are secular in nature. Just tips me hat but then 〜on thoght bows deeply 14:25, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Writing

[edit]

As a matter of style, this article should be seriously revised/rewritten for clarity and less subjectivity. The first paragraph, for example, should state to what the Udall family members were elected (Senate, House, state legislatures, etc.). Phrases like "Interestingly" and children "by wives" should be changed as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.247.42.231 (talk) 06:49, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Lee

[edit]
The following was added to the article body, but should have been added here instead, so moved. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 18:38, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Need help, i am a new editor. But in the family tree, Senator Mike Lee is listed as Senator Elect. He is not Senator Elect, but is a Senator as of Jan 3 2011 as per his Wikipedia page. Can someone fix?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Oreot (talkcontribs) 11:17, 2 March 2014‎

The family tree you are concerned with is actually an image file, named File:Udallpoliticalfamily.gif; given that you would need to contribute an updated version of that file, and then replace that on the article, or we'd need to change that section to instead include this same information as actual text, which is more easily maintained. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 18:46, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
