First language

[edit]

"Both Bresciano's and Grella's first language is Italian."

Considering both these guys lived and played football in Australia until they were around 20, I can't see Italian being their first language, even if they are of Italian descent. Can anyone confirm this?

I rememeber reading somewhere that Grella thinks in the language of his parents... can't remember where exactly...

Well, being of Italian descent myself, most children of Italian descent are spoken to in Italian for the first couple years, and are taught both languages. My brother was only taught italian, my parents thought that he would pick up english himself, and he had to start kindergarten later because he couldnt speak english yet. Move

[edit]

I think we should move this article to "Vincenzo Grella", since it's the player birthname. And, by the way, everybody calls him "Vincenzo", not "Vince", here in Italy. --Angelo 02:02, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And by the way, everyone calls him "Vinnie" not "Vincenzo" here in Australia. And he is Australian. Nic Car Bel 23:35, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's bloody strange hey, in Italy they call "Vinnie" Vincenzo, but they call Marco "Mark"! Anyway, I think this page could be expanded a bit. More about his club career should be in there, the fact that he has been one of Parma's best players this year, and he will probably leave at the end of the season if (when) Parma get relegated (unfortunately!). Forza Grella! Lucky 13!

October 08

[edit]

Have just added in quite a lot about his club career, particularly in Italy. The article is looking a lot more detailed than before. Now we need a picture!! Rusty8 (talk) 05:10, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
