We need to move this article

[edit]

This should not be at "The Virginias", as the "The" is a purely grammatical element that is not capitalized in running text. This article should be at Virginias. --Khajidha (talk) 14:33, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In Wikipedia, titles never start with a lowercase letter. Georgia guy (talk) 14:40, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, really? iPod. --Khajidha (talk) 14:47, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see BilCat (talk · contribs) moved "The Carolinas" to "Carolinas" this week, so what I'll say is that this article should follow the pattern set by that one. I'd lean on BilCat's expertise here, who said that article should be removed per WP:THE. We can start a move proposal, but are there any objections here?-- Patrick, oѺ 15:48, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I, for one, would object to removing the article. I have been thinking about how to expand the information, or lack of, in the article. It is just as valid an article as The Carolinas but no editors have been working on it. Dubyavee (talk) 21:41, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think you have misunderstood. The article that should be removed is the definite article "the". No one is suggesting deleting the page, just changing its title from "The Virginias" to "Virginias". --Khajidha (talk) 22:01, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Based on WP:THE, it does seem that the article should be the Virginias; the analogy to the United States of America seems fairly spot on.--Mojo Hand (talk) 22:41, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, apologies for any confusion, I can see how "the article should be removed" could be misinterpreted, but yes, I mean the definite article as in "The", which was the topic here, not the Wikipedia article. I'm going ahead and moving the page now, since I haven't seen any opposition.-- Patrick, oѺ 13:52, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
