English or Scottish?[edit]

Although the Australian National Botanical Garden explicitly describes Baxter as an "English gardener", there must be some doubt as to the verity of that description. He certainly worked in England (just as he worked in New Holland), but there is no evidence that he came from England. At that time, the British Empire was full of Scottish gardeners and botanists, and it is likely that Baxter was one of them. --Mais oui! (talk) 04:53, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
