[edit]I've made a few modifications, and split the first section off from the lead, since the lead should be a summary of the entire article. In the Eulogy section, is the separate reference for the quote-within-the-quote necessary? If the shorter quote was included entirely in the larger quote, the reference for the larger quote should support the whole thing. Also, the authorship of the Whitney Van Dyck isn't explicitly mentioned; when did it become attributed to him? --Paul_012 (talk) 01:49, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
- Good points Paul_012. On the Clarendon quotation, I moved from one source to another and perhaps should have ditched one. I'll see if I can fathom the attribution to Van Dyck, but as the sources show the painting has little or no provenance before the mid 19th century, I guess it must be a matter of judgement by Van Dyck experts.
