Alternative Names
[edit]I've removed the segment about methamphetamine being referred to as "nazi speed" for three reasons: a) This article is not specifically about meth, and thus the mention of its alternative names seems out of place; b) the term "nazi speed" doesn't appear anywhere in in the article cited as a source; and c) the inclusion of the phrase seems a bit close to Godwin's Law for comfort, evoking guilt by association. 67.6.90.25 (talk) 14:24, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
Pronunciation
[edit]it should be "yaa baa" not yaba, the a's are both the long aa sound in thai.bbc story for example 17:26, 5 April 2007 User:124.120.186.70 (talk)
- Yes, the both vowels are long, which is usually transcribed as 'aa', at least when following the royal romanized spelling decree, but 'yaba' seems to be the generally accepted spelling. Also, 'yaabaa' should probably not be translated as 'crazy medicine', as medicine has more positive connotations than 'yaa', which is a neutral word. 'Crazy drug' is probably better. 10:31, 29 March 2008 User:124.120.189.75
YouTube video
[edit]The YouTube video is primarily reporting on prison conditions and how it is full of drug traffickers due to new drug policies in Thailand. It is more a commentary on drug policy and law enforcement than it is on Yaba. It might be more appropriate as a link in the Human rights in Thailand or Drug policy reform articles. I recommend that it be moved from here. --Pat (talk) 02:17, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Drug?
[edit]Yaba is being referred as a drug in the article but in the beginning it is clearly described as a pill with a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine, this wouldn't be a drug, simply a mixture of drugs in a pill. C6541 (talk) 01:25, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- The term drug includes what used to be called nostrums or patent medicines, which are combinations of various chemicals. whether referring to a pure medication or a mixture, the term is fine.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:57, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Does trying yaba two or three times will make one addicted?
[edit]i"v tryed yaba pill once and i will try it again..but i do not want to get used to it..or addicted..is it possible??..just for fun?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.49.42.162 (talk) 10:06, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- This is not a question that us editors can answer, as this is not a forum for discussion of this subject. However, if anyone wants to find reliable sources on how addictive this combination is, esp. as compared to amphetamines, please add them.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 03:57, 11 August 2012 (UTC). From having fun with it, it will lead to addiction.
How people take more pills
[edit]Ya-ba is so dangerous that after taking one or two daily, it sent message to the brain whereby it will make you take 10 or more tablets a day. This can lead to mental problems and the brain will make you take more and t will be hard to stop taking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.25.25.72 (talk) 19:33, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Trouble archiving links on the article
[edit]Hello. I am finding myself repeatedly archiving links on this page. This usually happens when the archive doesn't recognize the archive to be good.
This could be because the link is either a redirect, or I am unknowingly archiving a dead link. Please check the following links to see if it's redirecting, or in anyway bad, and fix them, if possible.
- http://www.dhakatribune.com/law-amp-rights/2013/jun/03/bail-rejected-%E2%80%98yaba-king%E2%80%99-amyn-huda-jail
In any event this will be the only notification in regards to these links, and I will discontinue my attempts to archive these pages.

Isn't this just speed?
[edit]Had it not been for so much foreign travel in Thailand this page probably wouldn't even exist. You could literally write thousands of pages for all the local names of drugs. And Thais are more likely to call this drug 'crazy drug' in English rather than madness drug. Whatever... 203.131.210.82 (talk) 03:47, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
- It's a mixture of caffeine and methamphetamine. If you have a reliable source for the English name we can add it. Sizeofint (talk) 14:10, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

Magu (China)
[edit]This article mentions the methamphetamine and caffeine mixture in china under the name of magu. I tried to find a corresponding wiki article but this one (yaba) came up instead. Probably worth mentioning, though I'm not sure if magu uses same proportions as yaba. --Nanite (talk) 20:01, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

how long the effect is
[edit]Methamphetamines makes me to lose sleep for 36-48h. And it doesn't go away if injected faster than other methods. The person who wrote this article has no idea what they're talking about. Half life doesn't magically change if you snort/eat/smoke or inject it. 84.125.97.106 (talk) 15:32, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
