Requested Move

[edit]

On the requested move page:

Also note that on the "What Links Here", there are 5 articles that link only to Yeshe Tsogyal, 2 that link to both, and 2 that link only to Yeshey Tsogyel. Csbodine 15:21, 19 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Have you tried "Chogyal"? Gryffindor 19:39, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I'm not clear on the relevance of "Chogyal". A Google search on "Yeshe Chogyal" yeilds 4 unique results.

The only source we have so far spelled it Yeshey. Hyacinth 11:51, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm leaving for vacation in a few hours. When I get home next week, I'll provide a list of sources which have the alternate spelling. A few notable books are:

Changchub, G. and Nyingpo N. Lady of the Lotus Born Shambhala Publications, 1995 ISBN 1-57062-384-8
Padmasambhava. Dakini Teachings Rangjung Yeshe publications, 1999 ISBN 9627341363
Tsogyal, Yeshe. The Life and Liberation of Padmasambhava Dharma Publishing, 1978 ISBN 0913546186

I can also point to the common spellings of names such as Lama Thubten Yeshe, Rangjung Yeshe, and Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche -- Csbodine 13:33, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been renamed as the result of a move request. I moved it to the suggested name, based largely on the google evidence. If one can come up with a better argument for something else, we can of course revisit it later. Dragons flight 04:40, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all! Not an experienced Wikipedia user but I do have a question for the editors here on the spelling of Yeshe Tsogal vs Yeshe Tsogel. While the current article has the "a" spelling in the title and that spelling in 20 cases throughout the article...it has have the "E" spelling 11 times. Should this be standardized inside the article? Best regards 72.235.253.186 (talk) 04:53, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some other information

[edit]
"She went into an isolated Meditation Retreat in 796 and did not come out until 805, after her great Guru had already left Tibet, but when she did finally emerge it was as a fully Enlightened Buddha. Possibly in 837, but perhaps later, she transcended worldly existence, ascending bodily to the manifest pure field dimension of the Sacred Red Mountain, the luminous sphere of her Guru, the Lord Padmasambhava."

I wonder who is it to confirm that she emerged as a fully Enlightened Buddha; maybe the "Lay people" mentioned in the article?

P.S. People actually doing this practice: what is the result they are striving for?

-- 88.75.213.69 (talk) 16:12, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chöd is practiced to attain enlightenment and help others. Black dakini is one of the meditation practices in that tradition. I think it is good for overcoming selfishness, but there is also much more to it. The emphasis of that practice is on the welfare of others. Tritonist (talk) 22:19, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Banners

[edit]

I don't quite understand how to do it, yet am considering that adding banners for Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism would be useful here. The one here on Padmasambhava's page would be good. Does anyone else know where to find these and how to insert them? Thanks. AD64 (talk) 17:08, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @John Hill: for the addition of the info box and banner! Best, AD64 (talk) 06:37, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

I'm new as an editor and finding my way around by working on edits to a few existing articles in Tibetan Buddhism. I have just discovered Categories. I wonder why Yeshe Tsogyal is not higher ranked category in Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism? She is a historical co-founder of Tibetan Buddhism and a fully realized being, on par with Padmasambhava. In terms of historical and mythological significance, this article should have a higher category rating (or whatever it is called) than mid-importance. From an inclusivity perspective, it is important to include the female figures as well. Is anyone out there knowledgable about how these things work? How do we move the Category rating for Yeshe Tsogyal higher? Thanks and best wishes, AD64 (talk) 15:32, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AD64 good points. Try asking at the Tea House discuss page. It was very helpful for me. Pasdecomplot (talk) 10:11, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What's purpose of questioning then confirming lifetime?

[edit]

Is the section in biography/historaphy necessary, does it further the article's purpose? It takes the strong position of doubting her existence, but then reverses itself to say she probably existed. For what purpose? I've never heard the conflict being suggested. Is a great female master's existence, in fact, questioned? If others agree, I suggest we either delete it, or edit and condense the section, which is quite prominent. Pasdecomplot (talk) 10:45, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
