it says that his he murdered 43 people from 1973 to 1985 yet it also says that his first victim was in 1970 ????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.1.203.217 (talk) 14:33, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Try reading it as he murdered "at least 43 people"... These are the ones we know about, that he confessed to in his role as a police informant, or that were credibly documented in some other way. I suspect his first kills were even long before 1970, but we can only include in the article those ones for which we can cite credible sources. Dead or alive ?

[edit]

The article says he had terminal cancer in 2008. Is he still alive ? --Racklever (talk) 13:13, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No, he died in the summer of 2008. While I am here, should Trudeau listed as a serial killer? The term serial killer refers to a distinctive type of criminal, namely a man (serial killers are almost always male) who commits murders over the course of time because of abnormal psychological reasons, which are usually (through not always) sexually related. Serial killers occasionally have partners, but 99% of them operate alone. Trudeau was a hitman who killed because he was paid to do so. It is true that the 43 murders he committed over a 12 year period resembled the classic serial killer who kills serially, but his motivations were completely different from the serial killer type. A hitman may be a prolific killer, but their motivations are the hope of financial gain, ideology, and in the case of Trudeau status within his organized crime group. Trudeau is not normally classified as a serial killer. --A.S. Brown (talk) 01:37, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Why not both? I believe his "motivations" were VERY similar to "the serial killer type" - he IS - by definition - "the serial killer type". Serial killers are not normal, they should not be "normally classified". Some kill for 'the thrill", some kill for sexual reasons, the Mad Bumper did all of that, as well as for the other motivations that you mention. He was BOTH a serial killer AND a hitman for the HA and the mob. Garth of the Forest (talk) 20:47, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
