Easter in Poland

Created by Piotrus (talk). Self-nominated at 17:39, 14 April 2022 (UTC).

Not a review, but I think the above hook is a little too general. I've suggested some ALTs below:
@Piotrus: Thoughts? Z1720 (talk) 18:10, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
It would be nice to see this on DYK for Easter. Thriley (talk) 20:14, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
Z1720, All good, thanks. I was really having a brain freeze when it came to more interesting hooks this time. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 20:15, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
  • Article created 14 April. No issues of copyvio or plagiarism. All sources appear reliable. I do not read Polish, so am trusting the nominator. QPQ is done. I like the ALT hooks. They all seem interesting to the reader. Looks read to go. Thriley (talk) 20:37, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
  • Solid article on good sources, Polish sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. Thanks for the hook selection, my favourite is ALT1, because all others could also be used for Easter in Germany ;) - striking ALT3 because Lamb of God is a title, and a title is not edible. - In the article, I find the pic of "palms" very pretty but not explained in prose, and not really related to Easter. Better get it to the Palm Sunday article. - Now you have two approvals, - edit conflict. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:39, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
  • @Thriley, Gerda Arendt, and Piotrus: suggesting some new ALTs: theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 21:16, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
For ALT4, I'd link spray water. ALT5 might be a bit too April Foolsy; anyway, you can eat the Lamb of God too, I'd point out both? 5a is wrong as it is not a statue but a figurine (it's the size of your hand at most). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:20, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
Support ALT. 1 – but with "period" instead of "era" (which is too long a time frame for that historical context). Thus,
As to 5a (which I don't favor), "figurine" (as used in the "Easter in Poland" article) is definitely better than "statue", with its connotations of a huge marble or concrete construction.
Thanks.

@Piotrus: Yes, I know how to promote, however I am not experienced enough to move items so that this hook can appear today. We need someone who can rearrange so that the Easter hook can appear on Today Easter.Perhaps @Theleekycauldron:? Bruxton (talk) 17:30, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
no chance for today, but in Poland (and Germany ...), there's Easter tomorrow, and it could go into a set for tomorrow. One hook even mentions Easter Monday. However, I find spraying with water less powerful than national importance, so you'll need someone else to approve it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:03, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
Per my comments at WT:DYK, I don't think this is ready for promotion yet. This nomination was made far too close to Easter, and we shouldn't be scrambling to promote, there's too many competing hooks. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 19:28, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
@Theleekycauldron: There is not a controversial hook. And I think we should yield to the reviewer @Gerda Arendt:. It just seems a bit off to promote an Easter hook too late for Easter: especially when there is not a controversy. Too many cooks in the kitchen on this perhaps. Bruxton (talk) 19:50, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
Sorry I got here too late: the one Monday set is already on the main page (we've just gone from two sets per day to one). The reason the instructions say that special occasion hooks are supposed to be nominated at least one week prior to the requested date is to avoid rushing and because the closer you get to the date, the likelier it is that you'll run into issues. In this case, it wasn't just that Bruxton wasn't sure what to do, it's that they wouldn't have been able do anything: the Easter sets were already in queues and could only have been modified by admins. The nomination was made under 55 hours before the first Easter set went to the main page. That's not enough time, and while sometimes the DYK folks work magic, it didn't happen with this nomination. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:38, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
@BlueMoonset: I understand. I was pushing because there are 2.3 billion Christians in the world and we did not have any Easter hooks. We were close on this one @Piotrus:. I guess we will promote this for a week after Easter. :) Bruxton (talk) 00:46, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
(We had an Easter hook in the first set yesterday.) I offer my hook in today's second set for this one. IAR - what was that meant for. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:33, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt, Thank you. Ping User:BlueMoonset, User:Bruxton? (And if this is not promoted before Easter ends, oh, no biggie. Tnx for trying). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:17, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
no biggie, but what will the readers think if we have this in two weeks? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:22, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
  • 349 days until next Easter. Can we hold an article that long? Bruxton (talk) 23:47, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
No. It will have to run in the normal manner, though if promoters want to hold off another week or two, they can. I've struck the original hook and ALT5 and ALT5a, the former for lack of interest, the latter two because they only worked if run on Easter itself. I've also struck the original ALT1 in favor of Nihil novi's revision (which I've made more prominent). ALT4 still needs to be reviewed if it is to be considered for promotion.
