Eat Frozen Pork

[edit]

Created by Bonkers The Clown (talk). Self nominated at 14:41, 2 June 2014 (UTC).

  • I thought you were still under a dyk sanction even by your unblock. Please clarify. Beerest 2 Talk page 01:10, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
  • @Beerest 2: Aye, slipped my mind. The three noms I wrote while having forgotten about it will not be affected, and I promise not to do any more until the community tribunal grants me the permission. For this one, and any other which you may chance upon, do AGF and review it as you would normally. Thank you and may the Lord bless you. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 03:55, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

:::*If you're banned from DYK nominations, you're banned from DYK nominations. Closing this. BencherliteTalk 09:25, 4 June 2014 (UTC) The result was: rejected by BencherliteTalk 09:25, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

  • I've added a DYKnom template, but was wondering whether, given the ban, there should be a DYKmake for Bonkers. (Or whether there's a problem if there's a DYKnom template but no DYKmake template.) For now, I'm opting for no DYKmake. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:53, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

  • I'm sorry, but how is that hook "hookey"(Wikipedia:DYN#Content Bullet 7). That isn't what I would consider a interest grabbing hook that would make a reader interested in reading more about a Political/Marketing campaign for Frozen Pork. Hasteur (talk) 20:42, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm not against other hooks, but I do quite like this one. Maybe it's because I'm a Brit and I can't hear "hotline" without thinking about John Major's Cones Hotline. This is something similar: hotlines are for things like phoning the Kremlin, or for information about rabies outbreaks. A "frozen pork" hotline is as faintly ridiculous as a cones hotline. Andy Dingley (talk) 21:19, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Comment - It HOOKED me in while looking through the long list of nominations for something to review. I can't see how anyone could NOT find this hooky - it just stood out a mile for me. Definitely got my attention! Just saying... Mabalu (talk) 00:13, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
I agree: this strikes me as a much hookier hook than most of the ones I've seen on the main page. Contains Mild Peril (talk) 01:16, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
I agree as well. The idea of a hotline for forzen pork of all things is unusual enough to make some people at least want to know what that was all about. Rlendog (talk) 20:01, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
I also agree - a hotline about frozen pork? That's really bizarre!--¿3family6 contribs 17:21, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Full review needed. Given the number of people saying the proposed hook is indeed "hooky" (and add me to the list), I think it can be considered to meet the "interesting" requirement (and would be ideal for the "quirky" hook slot). BlueMoonset (talk) 18:55, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Review
[edit]
  1. The article is new and long enough.
  2. It seems reasonably compliant with policy, having a neutral tone and inline citations which check out. It perhaps could use some copy-editing but that's no big deal.
  3. The hook is short and there seems to be a consensus that it is interesting. It is supported by an inline citation which checks out.
  4. There's a QPQ and no image to worry about.
In conclusion, the article is good to go. Andrew (talk) 14:44, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
