British Volunteer Corps
[edit]- ... that one factory owner forced all his employees to enlist in the British Volunteer Corps?
Created by Alansplodge (talk), Dumelow (talk). Nominated by Dumelow (talk) at 20:18, 29 April 2013 (UTC).
- Note: Since Volunteer Corps is a dab page following some moves, I believe British Volunteer Corps is the article that was intended to be nominated. I think I have corrected all the links on this nom page. Chris857 (talk) 21:31, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- QPQ completed, neutral, hook fact cited, but book not available so AGF on that and paraphrasing from the book. Duplication detector indicates no paraphrasing from here. Expanded and nominated in time.

- Some of the phrasing in this article is too close to that of its sources. Compare for example "This required every person who owned ten or more horses to provide one fully equipped horseman for service in a new force called the Provisional Cavalry...Those who owned fewer than ten horses were grouped together to form "classes", each containing ten horses, and between them to provide one horseman" with "It required every person who owned ten or more horses to provide one fully equiped horseman for service in the Provisional Cavalry. Those who owned fewer than ten horses were grouped together to form "classes", each containing ten horses, and required also to provide one horseman", or "which like the Militia was liable to serve anywhere in the country... In the same year, an amendment was passed which allowed the lord lieutenant of any county to dispense with the raising of Provisional Cavalry" with "which like the Militia was liable to serve anywhere in the country. In the same year, however, an amendment was passed which empowered the Deputy-Lieutenant of any county to dispense with the raising of Provisional Cavalry". Nikkimaria (talk) 01:40, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- Indeed. The edit that introduced that text was added after I nominated the article. I have reworded the offending sections which I hope were just overlooked by the contributor. The duplication detector is down at the moment but I will run it through that once it is back up, I don't have time at the moment to check through every source manually - Dumelow (talk) 17:28, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Seems to have been addressed. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:49, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Plagiarism issues have been addressed, long enough, properly referenced, AGF for the offline hook ref. Technically the article has been nominated 1 day late for a creation-DYK, but it has also been expanded 5 times, within the required 5 days. I suggest to include one of the pictures, e.g. this one (PD), and append the description to the hook accordingly, like (Westminster cavalry volunteer pictured). --Pgallert (talk) 07:53, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- (Inserted after the issue of the DYK tick) Just to clarify: This is the hook and the pic that were okayed: --Pgallert (talk) 15:01, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
