Nazi variant
[edit]Shouldn't the 'nazi' variant point to Nazi Germany? ericg ✈ 05:50, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Use Template:Country data Nazi Germany for that. The "Nazi" variant here is for instances where editors still want the wikilink to point to Germany. Andrwsc 16:18, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Will do - didn't realize they both existed, and came here from an article which should have used the other. Might be worth adding to the template instructions, I dunno. ericg ✈ 17:41, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have just done so; thanks for the good suggestion! Andrwsc 17:48, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Empire flag until September 1935
[edit]See Flag of Germany. In March 1933, the Republican Black-Red-Gold was replaced by the old Imperial Black-White-Red, used in connection with the Nazi party flag. Only Black-White-Red was recognized as German national flag, see 1935 Bremen incident in New York. From 15 Sep 1935 onwards, only the Nazi flag was used. The flag of Nazi Germany
[edit]...from 1935 to 1945 had an off-centred disk and swastika adopted in 1935 and problems with how far the disk should be off-centred were clarified by a flag regulation enacted on 18 June 1937.
Here is the flag regulation of 18 June 1937 that decribed the off-centred disk national flag that was adopted then. I created this flag based on that:
I request that the flag image I have shown here should be included in the flag section of the template. This part of the regulation describes what the difference is between the reverse side of the national flag to the merchant flag.--R-41 (talk) 22:41, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think this template is the place to make a change. You need to bring this up at Commons, so that File:Flag of Nazi Germany (1933-1945).svg is updated. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 16:44, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- This information about the flag needs to be brought up at the the template because only administrators can edit the template, it is banned to edit to others. Administrators need to be informed and make the changes. Also, another user has informed me that earlier flag legislation made the off-centred flag official in 1935. The infobox's flagicon section needs to be updated by an administrator.--R-41 (talk) 16:10, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- You miss my point. If File:Flag of Nazi Germany (1933-1945).svg is incorrect, then the image should be changed on Commons. There are many more uses of that image than just flag icons. But if you are saying that there were two versions of the flag that were used (e.g. the current one from 1933 (or 1935?) to 1937, and the second one from 1937 to 1945, then that's a different situation. So which is it—one flag version or two? Your description sounds like there should be one version (with your corrections), and therefore, the image on Commons should be changed and no action needs take place here (or anywhere else on en.wiki). — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 16:23, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- Also, the discussion at http://www.flags-of-the-world.net/flags/de1933_o.html seems to indicate that the centered version was used on land, and the off-centered version used at sea. (And consequently, we have File:Merchant flag of Nazi Germany (1935-1945).svg on Commons, of which File:Flag of German Reich (1935–1945).svg seems to be a content fork.) — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 17:58, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- A user pointed out to be that the flag was changed in 1935, not 1937. The one flag image's title has been changed to be something like "Flag of the NSDAP (1920-1945)" it also represents the flag of Germany from 1933 to 1935. The off-centred flag was adopted as the flag of Germany in 1935. Changes need to be made in this Country data template by an administrator to have the country flag image templates of the 1933-1935 and 1935-1945 flagss because regular users are not allowed to edit this template.--R-41 (talk) 02:03, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

The 4 German social taxes (health, unemployment, retirement, long-term care) are paid to 50% by the employer. Certain health insurances charge an extra percentage over and above the 15%, and this extra percentage must be paid in its enirety by the employee. In general, only about 20,5% is paid by the employee and 20,5% is paid by the empoyer. This is the standard. The self-employed, on the other hand, have to pay the entire amount themselves.
Solidarity tax does not belong to the social taxes. It belongs to the income tax category.

Off-center Nazi Flag
[edit]This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
There were two national flags of Germany with the swastika: 1) one with the swastika centered, that was used 1933-35 alongside the imperial tricolour (black-white-red), and 2) one with the swastika and disc off-center (this one). The latter was used latest and was used for the longer period (1935-45), hence it is the main flag associated with Nazi Germany.
I propose that the 1935 swastika flag with the disc off-center be introduced (under the label "|nazi") to replace the current version (i.e. the current centered swastika flag). -- Director (talk) 16:57, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

German Flag from 1933-1935
[edit]Right now this template reads that the nazi flag is used from 1935-1945. This would be incorrect. The Nazi flag became official on March 12, 1933. Germany at that time had two "official flags", but both "Equally" official. They had to be flown together on ships but usually the Swastika flag was used in this time period. On 15 September 1935 they officially scrapped the Black, White and Red flag but it was rarely used anyways by that time. Yes the Bremen incident gave it the official boot but it was fading from use anyway. Nazi Flag in 1933 and Swastika_flag#Nazi_Germany. Even in a 1933 video. There are links at official nazi flag, and breman incident. We don't want to misinform our readers so the template should be changed to 1933-1945 for the Swastika flag. Fyunck(click) (talk) 00:13, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- Its not the template that reads what you state, its the name of the image itself. And its an accurate description.
- 1933-35 Germany used both the black-white-red tricolor and the centered swastika flag.
- In 1935 both these flags were scrapped, and were replaced with the off-center swastika flag. This flag was used 1935-45.
- We currently have the off-center swastika flag because that's the "main" flag of the Nazi period, one that was used last and for the far longer period. I suppose we could include the centered swastika flag as well, since it was the flag of Germany 1933-35.. perhaps as "1933n" or something (like we have on Template:Country data Nazi Germany). It certainly is missing. Edit request? -- Director (talk) 00:53, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- Interesting... thanks. We have some articles that use the flagicons and I had read many times that it was actually quite rare to have just the bl-wh-rd flag from 33-35. But the fact it was a centered swastika from 33-35 and wiki doesn't have that flag explains it. Fyunck(click) (talk) 06:21, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Flag of West Germany; Flag of East Germany (1949–1959); Flag of Germany (1990–1999).svg
and
Flag of Germany (1919–1933).svg
should be link to Flag of Germany.svg, as they are the same. The colour shade difference is just variant in how the "gold" may be depicted, there should be no differnce in these flags and the current one.

I changed the flag of "1919" to be the same as "Weimar" as they are the same flag, as this is the republican flag that was readopted by both East and West Germany after WW2 (although with slightly different ratio) and use the same colors then as now.
The "Nazi" tag was changed to also link to Nazi German flag (1935-1945), instead of the party flag, since this is about national flags and not organisation in the country.
For the flag of Germany after the allied occupation in 1949. It should be the same flag as the flag today (which was adopted 23 May 1949). Germany had no official specifications on colour shades previously to the corporate design in the 90's, but that only means that it only specified "black-red-gold". This is the case for pretty much every flag, as they were defined with "green" "blue" "red" until in modern times official specific color codes were defined based on the common style/shade depiction of the flag. It does not mean that there was as set, specific design of the flag that looked like this between the years X to Y, which they later decided to change and redesigned into this . That is only a possible variant of the flag were the gold/yellow is depicted a literal "gold" (modern example:https://i.imgur.com/s98OThZ.jpg). The flags used in West Germany (and early East Germany) should be the same design as today. (examples of West/East with same colours as today:https://imgur.com/a/25mpBLJ) See Flag of Germany for more information.
Also added "state" variant of the flag as well as a "gold" variant. I have requested the name change of
Flag of West Germany; Flag of Germany (1990–1996).svg
to
Flag of Germany (Gold).svg
The other flags not included are just based on the shades used in pictures in different editions of the CIA World Factbook and not official or even real changes to the flag used by Germany.

- Also, the source (https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/de_color.html and the main page thereof https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/de.html#his) for the "the colours have changed many times" you mentioned before even says (if you read that source) exactly what I said, that there simply was no official exact colour definitions before the corporate design, but it has still been the same flag since the adoptions long before! That it has not gone through any "redesigns" since then, which is why the current date of adoption of the flag today is 23 May 1949, when the Weimar flag was readopted. Also that it has sometimes been depicted with a "literal gold" (especially by West Germany as opposed to East). These "colour changes" files on this template are also implemented (and mostly personally created) and propagated on different articles by the same person who did the mass-edits without any consensus or discussion
- The following are from the same source in the article you mentioned on the previous request
https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/de_color.html
- Anyway, we should not take these slight differences in shade, assuming they existed, as meaning the BRD and DDR used different "colors." Many countries (including, e.g., the United States) have changed their precise color specifications over time; "Old Glory blue,"" the color now used in the official specification for the S&S, is somewhat darker than "national flag blue," which was used in an earlier version. But I would not construe that to mean that the U.S. flag now is anything other than the same "red, white, and blue" it has always been.
- ...but for the first ten or so years, the German Democratic Republic (a.k.a. East Germany) flew the plain black-red-gold horizontal triband, i.e., identical to the West German flag. Both German constitutions (i.e., East and West) specified the national colors as black-red-gold. Having grown up in E Germany and having been in the middle of unification with W Germany in 1990, I have seen a lot of German flags (both East and West) and there just isn't any discernable difference in colors.
- German flag laws usually do not specify the colour shades. They simply state colour names.
- Today I got a letter from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior whom I had asked for the correct colour shades of the national flag. The reply of 30 July 1998 [[[Before the 1999 corporate design]]] states: "In accordance to article 22 of the Constitution the federal colours for the Federal Republic of Germany are black-red-gold. Technical prescriptions of the colour shades had not been fixed by the Federal Minister of the Interior, since these always change in the course of the years... [[[[As they had not been officially defined yet, although the letter did give him some recommendations of common colours on the flag, extremely similar to the later defined ones]]]
- the West German (and now whole German) authorities have always claimed, that the designation black-red-gold does mean, that the bottom stripe should be really "metallic gold"... On the other hand, East German authorities always printed the bottom stripe in a (dark) yellow, which is historically, heraldically, vexillologically correct. Real flags (cloth) always showed a (dark) yellow colour in both cases...

- The black-red-yellow tricolour flag has been used at least three times in the history of Germany. It was adopted in 1848, and abolished in 1852; re-adopted as the flag of the Weimar Republic on 11 August 1919, and abolished and replaced by the Third Reich flag (12 March 1933). It was finally re-adopted as the modern German flag on 8 May 1949. It was used by the German Democratic Republic until 1959, but added a coat of arms from 1959 to 1989, when the Germanies were reunited.
- Identical (except proportions) with the National Flag of the Weimar Republic. Adopted as Federal flag 9 May 1949 and usage extended to civil ensign 14 August 1950. Illustrated in Pedersen 1971 p. 30, Smith 1975, p. 227, Crampton 1990i, p. 43, Album des Pavillons 1990, p. 17 and many other places.

- Colours adopted 1949, flag adopted 26 Sep 1955, abolished 1 Oct 1959
- Identical with the black-red-gold national flag of the Weimar Republic. Because it was also adopted by the Federal Republic, it was only in use from 1949 to 1959.
- The first constitution of the German Democratic Republic (adopted when the GDR was founded) did not mention a flag, just that the national colours were black-red-gold. On 26 Sep 1955 the first flag law was adopted, which described the flag as black-red-gold in equal stripes. Source: Schurdel 1995.
- According to Rabbow 1970 the black-red-gold flag of the German Democratic Republic was adopted 19 Mar 1949. On 26 Sep 1955 the flag, which was identical to the flag of the German Federal Republic, was reaffirmed (Law on State Coat of Arms and State flag). On 1 October 1959 the GDR government put the Arms on the state flag.
