The Magehound is a fantasy novel by Elaine Cunningham, set in the world of the Forgotten Realms, and based on the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. It is the first novel in the "Counselors & Kings" series. It was published in hardcover in March 2000 and in paperback in April 2000.
Plot summary
The two youths Jordainis Matteo and Andris live sweet years in college before finishing their training and become advisors to noble mages in Halruaa. When an inquisitive Azuth sends the killer elf mages Akivaria and Kiva to make an inspection at the College, it runs under Andris summarily because he has been contaminated with magic. From there, the story follows a troubled Matteo getting to know the acrobat Tzigone and saving the agent Kiva between these intrigues in the kingdom and a painful past.
