The Real Housewives of Dallas (abbreviated RHOD) is an American reality television series that premiered on April 11, 2016, on Bravo. The show was developed as the ninth installment of The Real Housewives franchise. It has aired one season and focuses on the personal and professional lives of several women living in Dallas, Texas.

The show follows the lives of several women living in Dallas. "The Real Housewives of Dallas, it's a natural extension of the franchise with a Southern twist that 'y'all' will enjoy," said Andy Cohen, the network producer who has been affiliated with the The Real Housewives franchise since its inception. The reality series based in Dallas is the ninth installment of the franchise, following The Real Housewives of Orange County, New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, D.C., Beverly Hills, Miami and Potomac.[1]

"The Real Housewives has become a global phenomenon that drives cultural conversation while consistently breaking ratings records,” said Shari Levine, who is the executive vice president of the network. "We're happy to extend the franchise with Potomac and Dallas giving Bravo fans more of what they desire: stories of dynamic women who make us laugh, cry, cheer and experience unforgettable moments we can't stop talking about," she also added following the series announcement.[2]

"It reminds me of early Housewives. It's the way they communicate. It's about how they live their lives, and it's about families," Andy Cohen discussed on the vibe of The Real Housewives of Dallas and The Real Housewives of Potomac. Cohen also revealed, "We’ve been tinkering around with Dallas for, I want to say, seven years we've been thinking about this. We cast there."[3]

The cast of the series was announced in February 2016. The reality show follows five socialites living in Dallas, including Cary Deuber, Tiffany Hendra, Stephanie Hollman, LeeAnne Locken, and Brandi Redmond, with Marie Reyes in a recurring capacity.[4]

On July 11 2016, Andy Cohen denied rumors that the show would be cancelled and hinted at the possibility of a second season stating, "We're kind of taking a look at the women and the season, and figuring out how we move forward."[5] On October 27, 2016, The Real Housewives of Dallas was officially renewed for a second season as well as revealing that filming is underway.[6]
