Travis Jammal Benjamin (born December 29, 1989) is an American football wide receiver and return specialist for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Miami and Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, Florida prior to that. The Browns drafted him in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

His nickname is the "Belle Glade Blur" due to his quickness.[1]

High school career

Benjamin played on the state championship team as a junior and was a contributing factor to their success the next season; finishing with 8 receiving touchdowns as a senior. Was the no. 21 ranked receiver by ESPN and 144th overall in the class of 2008.

College career

Benjamin played college football for the Miami Hurricanes for 4 seasons from (2008-2011).

Benjamin was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the 100th pick overall in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

2012 season

Benjamin scored his first career touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in week 3; coming from a 22 yard pass. In week 14 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Benjamin returned a punt 93 yards for a touchdown, which is a franchise record for yardage on a single return. Benjamin finished his rookie season with 18 catches for 298 yards and 2 touchdowns.

2013 season

In week 5 against the Bills, Benjamin returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown en route to a 37-24 victory. On October 27, Benjamin suffered a torn ACL injury causing him to be out for the rest of the season.[3] Benjamin had 5 catches for 105 yards and 1 rush for 45 yards before the injury.

2014 season

Due to injuries and suspensions of others, Benjamin found himself in the starting lineup at receiver more often than in the past.

Track and field

Benjamin also ran for the Belle Glades (FL) Glades Central track team. He competed in the 100 meters and long jump. he ran personal season bests of 10.72 seconds in the 100 meters and 6.97 meters in the long jump. He placed fourth in both the 100 meters and 100 meters at the 2A state meet in 2008. He also led team to state 2A team runner-up finish in his junior year.

In 2009, he ran a season-best time of 6.40 seconds in the 55 metres at the Tom Jones Invitational. In the 60 metres, he ran a season-best time of 6.90 seconds in the preliminary round of the Texas A&M Invitational.

In 2010, he joined the indoor track team. He placed fourth in the ACC Championships in the 60 meters with a season-best time of 6.74 seconds. He ran the team's three fastest times on the season in the 60 meters.

Competing for the outdoor track team, he earned All-ACC honors, placing third in the 100 meters at the ACC Championships, with a time of 10.40 seconds, the fastest time of any Miami sprinter on the season. He ran the second leg of the 4 x 100 meter relay that advanced to the NCAA semifinals, that ran a season-best time of 39.57 seconds at the NCAA quarter finals, setting a school record, and placed fifth at the Penn Relays with a time of 40.35 seconds.
