Scope[edit]

The scope of WikiProject The Simpsons is to expand, and keep organized, the vast expanse of knowledge that The Simpsons has become. WikiProject The Simpsons will attempt to cover all Simpsons information included on Wikipedia. We will do this through volunteer contributors and editors. If you are interested in joining the WikiProject, please feel free to add your name to the Participants list below, and find yourself an article to adopt.

Adopt an article[edit]

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.

Structure[edit]

The Simpsons

  • Main Page - The Simpsons
  • Cast - The real people behind the show (and guest stars)
  • Simpsons Universe - The people and places that make up the Simpsons' world
  • Storyline - Episodes, plots & assorted running gags of the show
  • Other Media - Comics, video games, music albums, etc.
  • ?

To-do lists[edit]

Overall goals[edit]

  1. Write and expand articles related to The Simpsons - as long as The Simpsons is on the air, there is new information about the show to be added. This is an encyclopedia we're dealing with; let's make it the best Simpsons encyclopedia available.
  2. Organize and manage that content - a mass of information is of no use if it isn't properly organized. Also, make sure that any activity on any Simpsons article is being relayed back to the project. If there is a dispute on a single character's talk page, not everyone is going to see it. Recommend that the dispute be brought to the project, that way you can get the opinions of all the other Simpsons geeks.
  3. Damage control - See something that needs to be done? Be bold! Add your thoughts and ideas to the talk page!
  4. Featured and Good Articles - a couple pages have been nominated, let's clean them up and get them Featured.
  5. Get several pages upgraded to Good Article and later Featured Article status For more information, see: Featured Article Drive

Large projects[edit]

Please refer to the talk page for discussions regarding major projects.

  1. Define two manuals of style for the individual character and episode articles.
  2. Character List cleanup
  3. Category:The Simpsons - it's a mess, any ideas?
  4. Wikiquote:The Simpsons - move all of the quotes from each character and episode here over to Wikiquote
  5. Standardize all the episode capsules
    1. Remove all quotes sections. (cleared as of 19 March 2007, should be checked once a week)
    2. Make sure that every article has a working Wikiquote template. (season 1 to 11 checked and fixed)
    3. Minimize trivia and cultural references. In many cases, they become cruft magnets and it is best to just get rid of them completely so that IP users don't continually add random stuff.
    4. Get rid of most goofs sections - in many cases, it's just continuity or minor animation inconsistencies, however some of the bigger ones can be noted.
    5. Prosify wherever it's possible.
    6. Shorten and lengthen the episode synopses where needed. Many synopses in seasons 14-18 are especially long and many in the "classic era" are especially short. See Cape Feare for what the ideal length/amount of detail is.
    7. If possible, model episode pages after Homerpalooza, Last Exit to Springfield, 'Round Springfield and Homer's Phobia, all of which are GAs.
