Hello, welcome to your New Page Patrol School page! Every person I instruct will have their own page on which I will give them support and tasks for them to complete. Please make sure you have this page added to your watchlist. Your NPP School page has been specifically designed according to you and what you have requested instruction in - for that reason, please be as specific as possible when under my instruction, so that I know the best ways to help you (and do not be afraid to let me know if you think something isn't working).
Make sure you read through Wikipedia:Notability as that's the knowledge which most of the questions I ask you and tasks you do will revolve around.
- How to use this page
This page will be built up over your time in the Academy, with new sections being added as you complete old ones. Each section will end with a task, written in bold type - this might just ask a question, or it might require you to go and do something. You can answer a question by typing the answer below the task; if you have to do something, you will need to provide diffs to demonstrate that you have completed the task. Some sections will have more than one task, sometimes additional tasks may be added to a section as you complete them. Please always sign your responses to tasks as you would on a talk page.
Notability
[edit]PART 1
When patrolling or reviewing an article, you may often come across articles do not meet the WP:N guidelines, but the editors make the edits in good faith. Please read WP:AGF and do not WP:BITE the new editors.
- A. Notability is a test guidelines to decide whether a given topic warrants its own article in Wikipedia mainspace. Please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, General Notability Guidelines, Specific Notability Guidelines (SSN), Stand-alone list before completing the following tasks.
General notability guidelines
[edit]1. In your own words, why it is important to WP:AGF and not WP:BITE new editors.
Answer: People have to be patient with newcomers, who are new to Wikipedia, because they will learn over time. It is important not to be rude to newcomers. WP:AGF JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:51, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- . CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
2. In your own words, how does notability is defined in Wikipedia?
Answer: Notability is defined as reliable secondary sources wp:SIGCOV. It follow the Wikipedia notability guidelines for it depending on what article it is. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- . In Wikipedia, notability means "worthy to be noted" - it is defined as a topic is "presumably" notable for stand-alone article or list if (1) it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent from the subject where by the sources talk about the subject "directly" "in depth and in length" and not only passing mentioned and (2) it is not excluded under the What WP:Wikipedia is not policy. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
3. Does a step by step instructions on how to "Change a car tire" considered a notable topic in Wikipedia?
Answer: No, because the #1 guideline of Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, textbook, or scientific journal on what Wikipedia is not. WP:NOTGUIDE states that a Wikipedia article shouldn’t read like a "how-to" style owner's manual, cookbook, advice column (legal, medical or otherwise) or suggestion box. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- JaneciaTaylor under which guidelines? pls see right panel "policy shortcut" of "2.7 Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, textbook, or scientific journal" and rework your answer. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:26, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- . CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
4. What are the differences between A WP:GNG and a specific notability guidelines? how do we determine which one to use when patrolling an article?
Answer: The guidelines for WP:GNG states that topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list. Specific notability guidelines has criteria for it to be considered notable. We will depending on which type of article. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- JaneciaTaylor You didnt answer the question. Please read the question again and rework. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- . GNG is the guideline that all articles have to follow. SSN are specific guidelines offer a more in-depth criteria for different topics. GNG are used for all the articles posted on WIkipedia regardless of the topic. When patrolling an article we should first check if it complies with GNG, if it fails to establish the notability requirements (note such as match results for sport are considered routine coverage and cannot be used to demonstrate/contribute notability requirements), then SSN should be used so that the subject can be determined to be notable. In short, both can be used when patrolling an article. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 23:16, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
Specific notability guidelines
[edit]5. If an editor creates an article about "2024 Summer Olympics" in 2019 without providing any sources, is the subject considered not notable and why?
Answer: No, because Wikipedia is not a crystal ball wp:NOTCRYSTALBALL. Dates are not definite until the event actually takes place. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- . We could search for sufficient independent, reliable sources to confirm the event and date. Without sources, the article can not exist; however, in this case, 2024 Summer Olympics is notable subject as Summaer Olympics has been organised/held for many years, but the article need to be supported by sources to reflect that. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- B. Without considered of sources/content policies and review just based on "subject specific notability" (SSN) "alone" for sake of the exercises below, please answer if the subject meets the SSN guidelines, based on the given content below, and specify under (1) which notability criteria they meet or fail (example - MUSICBI#1 if certain sub set of criteria is applicable) and (2) reasons/explanations.
6. A New York city based 2019 start up software company , specializing in data mining, has just received a USD 200K investor fund.
Answer: No, because it doesn’t follow any of the criteria WP:ORGCRITE.JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- Doesn't satisfy "The scope of their activities is national or international in scale.". The subject has been invested in doesn't mean that it has notability as thousand of start-up companies have been invested. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
7.Movsar Evloev who is a Ultimate Fighting Championships fighters with the undefeated mixed martial arts record of 12-0.
Answer: No, because it doesn’t follow criteria 1 of WP:MMABIO that Movsar Evloev have fought at least three professional fights for a top-tier MMA organization, such as the UFC. He only fought Ultimate Fighting Championships. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- . CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
8. A upcoming action drama title "Suleiman the Great" based on the the life of Suleiman the Magnificent, was reported will be in production in December 2019 and to be released on August 2020 in the cinemas.
Answer: No, because the guidelines of notability films WP:NFF says films that have not been confirmed by reliable sources to have commenced principal photography should not have their own articles, as budget issues, scripting issues and casting issues can interfere with a project well ahead of its intended filming date, and it doesn’t meet the criteria of WP:NFOE. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- . Future film needs to confirm it is in production and a released date unless the production itself is notable per the notability guidelines. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
9. A political candidates, without any previous or current political position, who is running for November 2019 election for a Senator position in United States with multiple local newspapers coverage of his candidacy.
Answer: It doesn’t follow the criteria 1 for WP:POLITICIAN, because criteria 1 state that politicians and judges who have held international, national, or sub-national (e.g., province- or state-wide) office, or have been members of legislative bodies at those levels. This also applies to people who have been elected to such offices but have not yet assumed them. It doesn’t follow criteria 2 because criteria 2 states that major local political figures who have received significant press coverage, it also have to follow the basic criteria 'JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- Well-done. Only "elected" in national/international position (can be yet to assumed office) are considered pass WP:NPOL but you will find occasionally a major from a very large city (million in population) would considered notable. Please note when a politician runs for a position, the always will be many coverage on their marketing campaign even if the sources are independent and reliable as we considered them as "promotion/marketing" sources. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
10. A singer who self produced his first album in May 2019 and his songs are listed in Spotify.
Answer: No, because it doesn’t follow the criteria 1 for WP:SINGER, because criteria 1 states that they have to have been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself. This singer doesn’t follow any of the criteria. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- . Good. Subject fails all WP:SINGER criteria. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- C. Based on which SSN guidelines the below subjects are notable under (1) which notability criteriaMUSICBI#1 (if certain sub set of criteria is applicable) and (2) reasons/explanations
Answer: The article follows number 5 on the criteria section that says the person has held a named chair appointment or distinguished professor. Distinguished professor is an assistant professor or associate professor, Carlos Alós-Ferrer was both. He has been the assistant professor at the University of Vienna (Austria, 1997-2002), associate professor at the University of Salamanca (Spain, 2002-2004), and Associate Professor at the University of Vienna (2004-2005). It follows criteria 8 which says the person has been the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal in their subject area. Carlos Alós-Ferrer is currently the editor in chief of the journal of economic psychology. It follows the first rule for SSN on notability for academics, it says on criterion 1 is to show that the academic has been an author of highly cited academic work. He is the author of 4 cited works A Review Essay on Social Neuroscience: Can Research on the Social Brain and Economics Inform Each Other?, The Theory of Extensive Form Games, Fast or Rational? A Response-Times Study of Bayesian Updating, and The neural basis of belief updating and rational decision making.
- JaneciaTaylor which criteria of WP:NACADEMIC? Click "people" the side bar of WP:N then look for "2.2 Academics" and click on "Main page: Wikipedia:Notability (academics)" and read "1 Criteria" section. you need to provide which criteria of the SSN you mentioned for Part B and C answers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 02:54, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- JaneciaTaylor If you think criteria 5, 8 are applicable then state in you answer SSN WP:NACADEMIC criteria 5, 8 and then explain/justify your answer. This would be the same format for all the answer for Part B and C. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:33, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- JaneciaTaylor Pls note you should read the whole page of Wikipedia:Notability (academics) and not just read "1 Criteria" section. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:48, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- Meets WP:NPROF #1 [1] for being highly cited and #8 (not 3) and chief editor of Journal of Economic Psychology - see [2]. As an associate professor or profession is not considered a named chair position and does not satisfy WP:NACADEMIC #5. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
12. Alistair Overeem
Answer: Alistair Overeem follows the SSN guidelines for mixed martial artist, because it says in criteria 1 of WP:MMABIO, that you have fought at least three professional fights for a top-tier MMA organization, such as the UFC. Alistair Overeem follows criteria 1 because he fought in the ultimate fighting championship, dream (mixed martial arts) and pride fighting championships. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- Overeem not only meets WP:NMMA but also WP:NKICK where he fought under K-1 where he was the formal K-1 World Grand Prix Champion. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
13. Jennifer Lopez
Answer: Jennifer Lopez follows criteria 1 and 10 of MUSICBI#1. She has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself. She also follows criteria 2 has had a single or album on any country's national music chart, because her 2002 remix album, J to tha L–O! The Remixes, became the first in history to debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200. She had reappeared on the Billboard Hot 100 as a featured artist on "Control Myself", the lead single from LL Cool J's twelfth studio album Todd Smith. The album's lead single "Qué Hiciste" reached number one on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. The first peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while the latter failed to make any significant impact on the charts. She subsequently named the album J.Lo. Released on January 23, 2001, it was a commercial success, debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200.
The release of "I'm Real (Murder Remix)", which quickly reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Lopez became the first artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 with a debut single since Britney Spears did so with her single "...Baby One More Time" four months prior. The album produced three singles: "I Luh Ya Papi", which features French Montana, "First Love", and "Booty", featuring Pitbull or rapper Iggy Azalea. "Booty" debuted inside the top twenty in the United States, making it her second-highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100 after "On the Floor". "Dance Again" and "Goin' In", a single from the soundtrack of the dance film Step Up Revolution, both reached the top of the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs, giving Lopez her twelfth and thirteenth number one on that chart, respectively.
Jennifer Lopez follows criteria 4 because it has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country. She had a Dance Again World Tour. In February 2019, Lopez announced that she will be embarking on her first concert tour in nearly seven years to celebrate her upcoming 50th birthday. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- subject passes all WP:SINGER criteria and Lopez also passes all WP:NACTOR criteria. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
14. Three Mile Island accident
Answer: Three Mile Island accident follows criteria 1 of WP:EVENTCRITERIA that events are probably notable if they have enduring historical significance and meet the general notability guideline, or if they have a significant lasting effect, it has a lasting effect on the nuclear power industry. The number of reactors under construction globally increased every year except 1971 and 1978. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- . The event also passes WP:LASTING, as it is continued every decade in the area since the event happened. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
15. Persepolis
Answer: Persepolis followsl guidelines for WP:GEOLAND, because it states that populated, legally recognized places are typically presumed to be notable, even if their population is very low. Even abandoned places can be notable, because notability encompasses their entire history. One exception is that census tracts are usually not considered notable.JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:50, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, See above and ping me when you are done with the questions and ready for review. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:49, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, When you have finished the assignment or need any help or anything related to the assignment, you ping me here and not on my talk page so, all info/communication will be in one place. Secondly I expect more then a yes or no (close answer) but to explain/justify/reason (with more than one sentence) with specific links of the guidelines and criteria (if any such as NACTOR#2) and hist diff from your answer as well for a NPP reviewer need understand how to "apply" the guidelines when reviewing and understand/justify/reason their actions. I need you to rework the assignment and do note I have placed for more on the questions and pls read them before answering. Lastly, I need to read "thoroughly" all the links (blue highlighted text - a lot to read and digest) before answer the questions as from you answer above I dont think you have done that. I have informed you that there is a lot of reading and is not a easy program, so you need to do what is needed to go through this program. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:26, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, Pls read the question (Section C) again for Q 11 and re-answer it. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:05, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, Greetings. (1), if you have finished the assignment or you have any question, pls let me know here (after the assignment section), so I may know you are still working on the assignment or you have done wit it. (2) for Wikipedia page (not article page) we use high cap for WP such as WP:N and not wp:N. (3) Please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not for Question 3. Please read the Part B and Part C of Assignment 1 Quest'ion again and rework the answers in Part B and C (note we are not talking sources here but SSN and which criteria of SSN it apples in your answer. Thank you CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:11, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- What is SSN? Can you explain? JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:56, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, First of all you need to ping me when you send a message to me should I will receive a notification that of your message. Pls see WP:Ping on instruction. Secondly, you need to add additional "colon" / " : " from the previous message thread before you start a message as this is the protocol of Wikipedia communication. I believe I have sent you the link Help:Wikitext before and please read it. SSN is Specific Notability Guidelines - see Specific Notability Guidelines (SSN). You can find it on the left banner of WP:N and please click on it and read them. Some of the details of the SSN is on the particular SSN section - so pls read them as well. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:53, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
- @CASSIOPEIA: I am done [Special:Diff/936174383|User:CASSIOPEIA/NPPSchool/JaneciaTaylor: Difference between revisions]JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:55, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, Please read this very carefully
- . For Q3, You answer is incorrect and pls please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and rework.
- . Please read the Part B and Part C of Assignment 1 Question again. We need not only the SSN but also the criteria of SSN such as "MUSICBI#1 or you could state WP:MUSICBIO criteria 1. Some of subject passes more than one SSN and criteria. Please rework the the answers where they are necessary.
- . Pls change wp to WP for all the links. Example from wp:NACADEMIC to WP:NACADEMIC.
- . For internal links, insert two brackets before and after the text. Example WP:Notability. For external link (URL) provide one bracket before and after the URL = example [3]. If you want to specify what you have done / info of the hist diff then add at least a space after the URL and insert some text. Example I have insert SSN.
- . Again, you need to read Help:Wikitext thoroughly.
- . If you want to go through this program, you need to read all the links and sub link pages over and over again thoroughly. This is only the first assignment and you have 9 more to go and they are more difficult than this one. This is a very difficult program and it requires you to read, explain, justify, provide guideline which you answer is based on, hist diff and more importantly how to apply the guidelines/info in practice etc. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 00:58, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, Please read this very carefully
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, See my comment on Q11. That is the "Some of the details of the SSN is on the particular SSN section / blue hightailed texts (links)" which I mentioned (details info). You need to check them out if you find them in any of the SSN. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 02:57, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- @CASSIOPEIA: I have tried to answer questions correctly, but some of them have guidelines not criteria JaneciaTaylor (talk) 22:59, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi JaneciaTaylor, Greetings and Well done after few attempts. You didnt answer Q4 so please re-read the question and rework. Pls see the review comment above and let me know if you have any questions. Few things to be noted here (1) Please read the question carefully before answer the questions (sometimes the the question is 2 part question (question ask 2 separate things from one question), sometimes the questions as to reason/justify instead of a close answer (yes or no) (2) You need to read all the links page from very top to very bottom to get all the info and also you need to click on the sub links (links on the guidelines page that provided for you) as sometimes, info of that particular content is in separate page such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Notability guide on 2.6 Military personnel page and many others. (3) You also need to read the "See also" section guidelines pages as sometimes details info could be found there. (4) If you have questions, pls ask for I am here to help. - 4. Please explain in your own words why the content claimed needs to be verified?
Answer: The guidelines WP:V states that verifiability means that its content is determined by previously published evidence instead of assumptions or understandings of editors. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 21:42, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- . Content needs to verifiable so we may know where the info/source from for we could know if the source is independent and/or reliable, and not because it is the facts or true - see WP:But it's true!. If source indicated XXX is from Jamaica but the fact XXX is from Cuba, we put XXX is from Jamaica in article as per source. We will correct the info when the sources (not need to be the same source) correct itself. For example Alexander the Great - How he die is based on which sources you read, from poising, to malaria and typhoid fever to infectious (meningitis) to acute pancreatitis and etc. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 22:05, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- 5.Could we used Wikipedia as the source? and why?
Answer: No, we shouldn't use Wikipedia as a source because guidelines of WP:CIRC states ”do not use articles from Wikipedia (whether this English Wikipedia or Wikipedias in other languages) as sources.” JaneciaTaylor (talk) 21:42, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- . Do note that: Wikipedia can NOT be used as a source because Wikipedia itself is not a source for the content of any articles in Wikipedia is based on sources from other publishers and that is the reason why we need citations (sources in body text) for verification where the content is based from. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 22:05, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- 6.Give an example and explain why a source is reliable but not independent of a subject?
Answer: An example of a non-independent source is a press release, because according to the guidelines of WP:PRSOURCE ”a press release is clearly not an independent source as it is usually written either by the business or organization it is written about, or by a business or person hired by or affiliated with the organization (e.g., a spin doctor). Press releases commonly show up in Google News searches and other searches that editors commonly use to locate reliable sources.” JaneciaTaylor (talk) 21:42, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- Press releases could be reliable or could be not reliable as it has to based on the where the source comes from. Example - An autobiography of Benjamin Franklin written by himself (not independent source) published by Oxford University Press (reliable source). In Wikipedia, we need secondary sources for verification. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 22:05, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- 7.Give an example and explain why a source is independent source but not reliable?
Answer: It does not have an interest in the topic, and it is a self-published source. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 21:42, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- . When we talk about independent source, we mean the source is independent from the subject of the article. Interesting topic has nothing to do with it. Comment and example in Q6 is based on non independent but reliable source. Here the example would be: The Sun (UK newspaper) is an independent source for news but it is not reliable as it is a tabloid news source, thus, it doesn't meet WP:RS. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 22:05, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- Pls indicate "y" for yes or "n" for no or "?" after "ind", "rel" and "sig" (see first example) and give a brief explanation of why you place "y" or "n".

Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 – April 9, 1959) was an American architect, interior designer, writer, and educator. Wright believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and its environment, a philosophy he called organic architecture. His creative period spanned more than 70 years. He works includes The Guggenheim, swirling, snail-shaped museum in the middle of Manhattan.[1][2] Fallingwater, which has been called "the best all-time work of American architecture."[3] This is one of Wright's most famous private residences (completed 1937), was built for Mr. and Mrs. Edgar J. Kaufmann, Sr., at Mill Run, Pennsylvania. Constructed over a 30-foot waterfall, it was designed according to Wright's desire to place the occupants close to the natural surroundings. The house was intended to be more of a family getaway, rather than a live-in home.[4]

Answer: ”Yes” Frank Lloyd Wright follows criteria #3 for WP:ARCHITECT, because criteria #3 states the person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. One of Wright's most famous private residences (completed 1937), was built for Mr. and Mrs. Edgar J. Kaufmann, Sr., at Mill Run, Pennsylvania. Answer:"Yes" Jordan Lennon pass the guidelines of WP:FILMMAKER and WP:NACTOR, because it states the person has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment. Answer: "Can't Stop This Thing We Started" passes guideline #2 for WP:NSONG, because the guideline states the song has won one or more significant awards or honors, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award. The person who sang "can't stop this thing we started" won a Grammy for this song. It also follows #1 of the criteria of WP:SONG because it states that it has been ranked on national or significant music or sales charts. Answer again: Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's full name as an article title. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 00:25, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's full name as an article title " because as per WP:COMMONNAME as it is most "common name" where many sources have addressed him as just "Hannibal" instead" of "Hannibal Barca", so the article needs to change to Hannibal. Cassiopeia(talk) 03:15, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Answer: Not all of the text follows WP:BLP, because this statement “in April 2019, McGregor is the father of Terri Murray's son, Clodagh. Murray bedded McGregor in 2017 at his hotel after the Aintree Grand National just four weeks bofore McGregor's girlfriend Dee Devlin gave birth to their son.” Doesn’t follow Wikipedia's three core content policies:
- Neutral point of view (NPOV)
- Verifiability (V)
- No original research (NOR)
JaneciaTaylor (talk) 18:48, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- . The sentence above (Murray and Clodagh) which you stated does follow NPOV if there are multiple inline citations to back up the claimed. But as per WP:BLP information on the child should be immediately removed as it is not backed by any sources for it is a contentious material and (WP:GOSSIP, WP:GRAPEVINE). In the biographies of living persons it's crucial to provide only information available in multiple independent reliable sources. Such information has to be neutral and should exclude original research. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:39, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- 4. As per the texts below, pls explain the if the content is acceptable of inclusive and why. (please explain based on Wikipedia guidelines and name/link the guidelines in your answer)

Images copyright
[edit]- Please read Wikipedia:Image use policy and Wikipedia:Public domain image resources. Please answer the questions below and (1) with explanation based on Wikipedia guidelines and (2) provide the guidelines/links in your answer.
- 5. Could this image-1 be uploaded into C:Main Page and use in Wikipedia? and Why.
Answer- Explanation: Yes, it can be uploaded on the main page, because the picture is from a free domain, which mean it is free to use.JaneciaTaylor (talk) 18:18, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
Answer - link/guideline: The U.S public defense is listed on WP:PDI.JaneciaTaylor (talk) 18:18, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
- It is because it is a free domain site as this is a US government site. To check if the site/page/image/text is copyright, we usually scoll down on the page and see if there is somewhere indicated the page stated "All right reserve". It it does, than we can use the text/image at all. Sometime we need to find the on the sub page but most of the times we could find it in the home page of the site. If we cant find it, then we have to search on the page site map/about us/ etc. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:39, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- 6. Could this image-2 be uploaded into C:Main Page and use in Wikipedia? and Why.
Answer- Explanation: Yes, it can be uploaded to the C:Main Page, because the website is listed Wikipedia:Public domain image resources. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 19:48, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
Answer - link/guideline: It follows WP:PDI because the website https://free-images.com/ is listed as a public domain. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 17:15, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- Most important is that we "ALWAYS CHECK THE ORIGINAL SITE" of the image located. In this case on the right site of the link this image-2 (next to the camera icon ) stated "This image was acquired from Flickr. It was marked as Public Domain or CC0 and is free to use. To verify, go to the source and check the information there." and if we click on the Flickr, it will lead us to Mike Goad where it sated CCO Public Domain Free for commercial use. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:39, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- 7. Could this image-3 be uploaded into C:Main Page and use in Wikipedia?
Answer- Explanation: Yes, it can be uploaded into main page because it has a free license. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 17:15, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
Answer - link/guideline: It follows the criteria for WP:IUP#COPYRIGHT, because it is freely licensed. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 17:15, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- same here we need to check the original source even it is in our Wikicommon site. If we click on this image-3 and under the Summary section where the source link is provide - here and we could find on the right side of the site it stated "Pixabay License Free for commercial use No attribution required". This is because sometime editor upload an image to Wikicommon and claimed it is their own work but upon checking the source the site states their text/image is copyrighted. When in such case then we need to report them for violation of copyright is serious issue and and it entails legal implication. Cassiopeia(talk)
- 8. Could this image-4 be uploaded into C:Main Page and use in Wikipedia? and Why.
Answer- Explanation: Yes, because photographs of two-dimensional objects such as paintings in a museum often do not create a new copyright. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 17:15, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
Answer - link/guideline: The public domain guideline states that photographs of two-dimensional objects such as paintings in a museum often do not create a new copyright. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 17:15, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- This is not a museum paining but a selling site of duplicated image. This image can not be used as it violated copyrights. It's somebody's work of art, it is not on a public domain or provided by the author. This image can be use only if the copyright holder provides allowance. It doesn't provide licensing info and may or may qualify for fair use. One way we could check it to download the image to our computer and use Tineye] where you might able to find some reverse images on the internet. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:39, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
Neutral point of view
[edit]P;lease read WP:NPOV and MOS:PUFF. Point out the WP:NPOV words/pharses and rewrite the paragraph on Question 9& 10 from a neutral point of view.
- 9. She is a brilliant boxer with a rare and exceptional beauty. She turned Pro at the age of 19 after winning one amateur fight on December 14, 2013 where she destroyed her opponent in 20 seconds. Her talent and marketability made her a fighter to watch right out the gate and she fought under XXX promotion on her next fight on February 2014.
Answer: Saying she was abrilliant boxer with a rare and exceptional beauty, and saying her talent and marketability made her a fighter is an opinion. WP:YESPOV states avoid stating opinions as facts.
Rewrite: She turned Pro at the age of 19 after winning one amateur fight on December 14, 2013 where she destroyed her opponent in 20 seconds. She fought under XXX promotion on her next fight on February 2014. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 17:13, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- The word "destroyed" also need to change as it is "word" that enhance the her victory to a higher level. We could just say " She won the fight" Simple-factual-no promo/enhancing word - see WP:PUFF to meet NPOV guidelines. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:49, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- 10. He is a popular, acclaimed Bulgarian actor, who loves by all who have watched his films. He was born in Veliko Tarnovo and started working in the film industry since he was at the tender, innocent age of 14 and he has featured in 44 films.
Answer: Saying he was loved by all is an opinion. WP:YESPOV states avoid stating opinions as facts.

- very good on "he was loved by all is an opinion" but so is "popular, acclaimed, tender and innocent" for all these are marketing words to promote the value of the subject or evoke emotions of the reader thus they have to be remove. We would rewrite " He is a Blgarian actor who was born in Veliko Tarnovo. He started working in the film industry at the age of 14 and he has featured in 44 films". Cassiopeia(talk) 08:49, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- 11. Please read WP:DUE and in your own words, please explain why it is important to provide balance and due weight content in an article.
Answer: It is important to provide balance and due weight of an article, because articles should not give other people beliefs or aspects. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 17:24, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- very good. Cassiopeia(talk) 08:49, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
No original research
[edit]- 12. In your own words, why Wikipedia is not a platform to publish original research?
Answer: It is suggested that Wikipedia users use reliable, independent, secondary sources that have significant coverage to the topic, not original research which there are no reliable, secondary sources that doesn't have significant coverage to the topic.
- The key point here is Wikipedia WP:V policy. Wikipedia policy requires all the content to be previously published by numerous independent reliable sources. It doesn't allow any opinions or ideas. Original research is a subjective point of view, not reviewed or fact checked by reliable sources. Cassiopeia(talk) 09:00, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- 13. In your own words, please provide one example with explanation when it is appropriate to insert an original research or an opinion in an article.
Answer: It never appropriate to insert to insert original research, because it is not allowed. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 17:46, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- Read the question again and answer the question again.
Answer again: Original research does not apply in talk pages or deletion discussions or policy noticeboards. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 13:57, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- 14. See this video and write the content in the in an article.
Answer: Islam commands us with our regards of our clothing for both men and women. Our clothing must be first of all baggy with men or women it must be loose with men or women it must be non see through it must be non-colorful attractive that mean someone walks in front of them looking at them. These are the conditions of clothing. Jeans does not fit in that. Now obviously our clothes must be loose non see through non-tied, baggy, and I’ll say to the sisters if you are not fitting in this category you shall one day fit in.
- . We need use the word you, I, we if we stated it as a statement in the body text in Wikipedia unless we use them as direct quote. Secondly, it was said by a person, how do we know it is what Islam religion stated/commanded that? we dont. So there are two way to write the content in Wikipedia using the above video as the source. (1) "Sh. Shady Alsuleiman said that wearing jeans is not allowed for both men and women according to Islamic beliefs. He named several requirements for clothing jeans don't fit in: loose fitting, non transparent, plain in color and covering the private parts." - This would indicate Alsuleiman stated that and we write the work in NPOV also in our own word. (2) the other way we would to that by using the exact word is by writing the content in direct quote. see below.
“ | Islam demands Islam commands us with our with regards of our clothing for both men and women, our clothing must be first of all baggy, so must be loose with a men or women. It must non see-through whether men or women. It must non colorful attractive that means when someone walks everyone's looking at them.[1] | ” |

Verifiability
[edit]- Please read WP:V and answer the questions below
- 15. If the subject has two sons and it is supported by three independent, reliable sources but in reality he has 3 sons. Could we change the content from "2" sons to "3 sons"? and why?
Answer: No, because WP:V says if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it. You can’t just add that he has 3 kids without it being verifiable. JaneciaTaylor (talk) 15:34, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
- is all (again) about WP:V. However, WP:V is NOT about the fact but all about we could verify where the statement/info comes from. Wikipedia is NOT about the true, but about what is able to be verifiable by independent, reliable source. - See WP:But it's true. We correct the content when the source corrected itself (same source or other sources). Cassiopeia(talk) 09:04, 21 March 2020 (UTC)

- JaneciaTaylor, Good day I am here to inform you that I have changed my user name to sentence case. Cassiopeia(talk) 00:49, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
JaneciaTaylor Hi, If you read WP:COMMONNAME under Wikipedia:Article titles page, it stats "Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources)..." This means if a nickname/stage names/certain way of address a person is the "most common" use will be the name of the person/subject.
- Example 1 : Ex United States President Bill Clinton full name is "William Jefferson Clinton', since he is well known (common name) as Bill Clinton instead of his full name "William Jefferson Clinton" or "William Clinton", Wikipedia name the article as Bill Clinton
- Example 2: ex NBA player, Earvin Johnson Jr. who played Los Angeles Lakers, is well-known (common name) as Magic Johnson, as such in Wikipedia the subject article is name Magic Johnson instead of Earvin Johnson Jr.
- Example 3: CM Punk the American professional wrestler, his official name is "Phillip Jack Brooks" but his stage name/professional wrestling name is CM Punk and all of us know him as CM Punk, so the subject article is named CM Punk.
- Q1 - Article name "Hannibal Barca" - Does the article name need to be change? and Why?
- Hannibal Barca was a Carthaginian general and statesman who is widely considered one of the greatest military commanders in history. His father, Hamilcar Barca, was a leading Carthaginian commander during the First Punic War (264–241 BC).[1][2][3]
If you read the sources provided above, the sources refer him as "Hannibal" and not "Hannibal Barca", Even though his name is Hannibal Barca, the article title is just taken his first name "Hannibal" as it is most "common name" which many sources have addressed him - We often heard the phrase "Hannibal Brought Rome To Its Knees"[4][5][6]. This also apply to subjects known by they nick names such as Roman emperor Caligula whose name is Gaius Caesar or a special way of addressing a subject such as Alexander the Great and not "just Alexander" or "Alexander III of Macedon".
