    • Reason: Doesn't seem to meet WP:MUSICBIO or WP:GNG. I don't see any significant coverage that indicates notability outside of Idlewild and Desalvo, so would support a redirect to either of those locations. Isn't notable enough for an article on his own.

    • Reason: Seems to have been an event that got a whole lot of coverage for about a month in May 2003. There is extensive coverage from that time, mostly consisting of long articles in British publications and shorter global articles. See all the coverage I found: The Times (May 3, 2003) The Telegraph (May 25, 2003) South China Morning Press (seems to be the same as a Rueters report, May 7, 2003)The Telegraph, (May 11, 2003). There are a few other dead-links, but that about sums it up. So, back in 2004 this would have seemed to be clearly notable. However, with the benefit of time (16 years of it!) it has become clear that this is not the case. One of the fundamental criteria of an event being considered notable is that it has a lasting effect and a duration of coverage that extends beyond a typical news cycle. Since May 2003, I have found only a BBC 'fun stuff' interview that is dated three weeks after the story, and about a page in New Century, Same Shit: The First Decade, a book that is a satire of the 2000s, not exactly the sort of coverage I would consider indicative of notability. Any other coverage has essentially dried up, from what I found after fairly extensive searching. Somewhat of a borderline case, given the rather in-depth coverage in major UK newspapers, but notable topics have sustained coverage that is beyond just a burst of news coverage, and that does not appear to be the case here.

    • Reason: A theater troupe that doesn't seem to have done anything particularly notable, other than have several people who went on to become somewhat notable (mostly as SNL members). The only SIGCOV that I found in a BEFORE search was in the Daily Trojan, a student newspaper for the [[ University of Southern California]] (which this troupe is from), not indicative of any sort of significance, and not a particularly reliable source. The only other coverage is brief mentions in articles about some former members (who are notable for other work). This is nowhere near enough coverage to meet GNG.

    • Reason: While I sympathise with many of the things he advocates for on a personal level, I just don't see how McHarris meets WP:GNG or WP:NJOURNALIST. Just having opinion pieces published in well known newspapers doesn't, afaics, make somebody notable unless they have been shown to be widely cited or reviewed. Other than that, I see he has been quoted and/or interviewed for his opinions in several publications, but don't feel that makes him necessarily notable , given that the coverage is about a social issue and not coverage of him. Further, he's not quite at the level of being considered an important or major figure in his field yet, so I'd consider this likely a case where it is rather too soon for him to be notable. It's admittedly a borderline case, so taking to AFD

    • Reason: Seems to fail WP:MUSICBIO and WP:GNG the main source is self-published through Lulu.com, so not reliable. The other sources in the article are passing mentions or don't mention Oglesby at all. On a before search, I found a one paragraph obit and Newspapers.com has a local ad for his performing, and seemingly nothing else besides passing mentions. this suggests there may be more, but the only one of those sources I found is not SIGCOV, as mentioned above. Notability is not conferred just by having played with some famous people, there needs to be covered to back it up, coverage that I just don't see.
  5. Winners of major U.S. crossword matches and tournaments nominated at AfD; notified StevieRaeShine (talk · contribs) 22:22, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: This topic fails WP:NLIST, because it is not discussed as a group by reliable independent sources, none of these tournaments are enough to make somebody notable as a matter of merely winning, and Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Also, 'major' is rather subjective, particularly in a listing of crossword tournaments, there seems to be no clearly defined criteria here.

    • Reason: Seems a very promotional article that fails WP:NONPROFIT. The only coverage I found was in local papers which do not meet the audience requirements of NONPROFIT. Given that their's quite a bit of coverage from Northern Illinois, I felt an AFD discussion was merited. Tagged for notability since May 2009.
  7. Podcasting in Zimbabwe nominated at AfD; notified Urbanzimbabwe (talk · contribs) 14:14, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: This is really an ad for random Zimbabwean podcasts and there's currently nothing worth keeping. There's one linked BBC review of 'The Shona Podcast', but I found nothing else suggesting that podcast was notable. I highly doubt the topic would be notable even if written about podcasting in Zimbabwe, the only good sources I found were a Springer article and a paragraph here, not quite enough.

    • Reason: Lieutenant colonel doesn't meet WP:NSOLDIER, and just being involved in various trials doesn't mean he's notable. The only coverage I found is essentially the same as listed in the article, local papers writing about a former soldier who lost in the primary of an election. I'm not positive about his judge/prosecutorial roles, but cannot find anything beyond the fluff that would suggests they convey notability.

    • Reason: There's an article by a forbes contributor (not reliable), a article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette which is local coverage about kids who grew up in Pittsburgh-- and is about GLD, not really Johnston, and an ESPN profile (not sigcov). Rest of the coverage reeks of promotionalism or doesn't mention Johnston at all. There is no indication either in the article or on a google search that he meets WP:GNG, WP:NBIO, or WP:NATH.

    • Reason: A non-notable event. Coverage is limited to local papers, the biggest is a Cleveland sized publication, not enough to indicate notability. It doesn't even seem significant enough seem to a mention at BGSU to me, but opinions may differ there.

    • Reason: While I am painfully cognisant of systematic bias, that is by no means an excuse for a non-notable article to exist. Her books are held in 201 libraries, not very wide at all. Other coverage, like this is passing and of questionable reliability. While she does seem to be decently widely published, I've not found indication that her work is widely covered or impactful enough to convey notability by itself. Otherwise seems to be a fail of WP:NBIO and WP:GNG

    • Reason: So he got a spate of news coverage for being a 23 year old, but it began on February 25, and had essentially dried up by the 26. Since then, there's been silence. This means that WP:NOTNEWS applies, as he's really a minor white house official in a position that, afaik, doesn't convey notability by itself. Seems to also be a case of WP:TOOSOON, as he may become notable in the future. Since the news cycle forgot about him, Bacon has done nothing worthy of note, and there is no indication that he currently is notable.

    • Reason: I guess this discussion hinges around whether we consider a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model to be de facto notable and meeting WP:NMODEL. I don't, but am not well versed in the field. I found no coverage to suggest that WP:GNG is met, and consensus is divided as to whether SI meets notability by itself. See 1 2 and 3, all from around ten or more years ago. I propose a redirect to List of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover models.

    • Reason: Another promotional MVC revipient who seemingly fails WP:NSOLDIER and definitely WP:GNG. Also has issues with referencing and tone.

    • Reason: I struggled to find any sourcing that would indicate this program is notable. It consists all of namedrops and passing mentions. There are a lot of programs under similar names. For instance, this seems to be a different program than is cited in the article, as does this and this, but none of them seem to meet WP:GNG. THe trove id contains links to promising sources, but all are offline and seem to have been published before 2006 (when this program was allegedly created). This page was redirected to Western Sydney University by AleatoryPonderings, but I am taking to AFD because I found no indication that the program even merits a mention at that university's page (it currently isn't mentioned there at all).

    • Reason: This nom will certainly be controversial, and I think it merits a detailed rationale, so please bear with me. 1) this is in violation of WP:IINFO. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information and it is literally a listing of non-notable people who died in a dog attack. 2) Similarly, WP:NOTMEMORIAL applies. None of these people individually meet our notability criteria, and most of them were only covered in local publications. 3) I'm concerned about WP:BLP (which does apply to recently deceased people). There is seemingly no point in listing the names and personal information of non-notable people. See the second paragraph of BLP, which says we must take extra care to have "regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid: it is not Wikipedia's job to be sensationalist" 5) WP:NOTNEWS: very few, if any of these events have a lasting notability outside of the 24 hour news cycle 4) I feel that it doesn't meet WP:LISTN We already have Fatal dog attacks, which covers fatal attacks generally, eliminating the need for specialized lists. In reading through the past AFDs, there is clear consensus that the topic of people being killed by dogs is something that is clearly notable. Sources such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 either agreggate breeds of dogs involved in fatal attacks/other statistics, or pick a random year and use it as a test case to analyse trends in fatal dog attacks. This, admittedly, is great coverage to include in a broad concept article. However, none of them provide a convincing justification to listing every single documented fatal dog attack. This list is just overly massive and a complete list would probably be much longer. Sure, some of these attacks may had hundreds of news articles and the broad-concept of 'dog attacks in the United States' is almost definitely notable, but I see no justification to exhaustively listing every single individual case. I'm sure people will have strong and vastly differing opinions, so will end by saying: let's take extra care to be civil and avoid personal attacks here. We are all here to improve the encyclopedia. Focus on content, not people. Best,

    • Reason: Potentially controversial, but this should be redirected to Nasty_woman#Partnerships. The best coverage of her is in a relatively local newspaper [1], otherwise profiles are about the Nasty Woman t-shirt, not her. Her art career doesn't seem to meet WP:NCREATIVE and is maybe even a WP:BLP1E for short term-notability.The vice source, seemingly the most promising source is misleadingly titled, it's actually an op-ed written by her, not about her. Independently fails WP:GNG and WP:NBIO, non-notable outside of her association with Nasty woman.

    • Reason: Seems to be a non-notable organisation, coverage is solely local and very limited, charity is now defunct so it's not like there's going to be any more. PROD removed because the edit summary didn't clearly suggest it was being prodded and "No longer existing organization there is an active charity organization in Kenya under this name and it is causing a lot of confusion" is not a valid reason for deletion). However, it fails WP:NCORP and WP:GNG.

    • Reason: A filmmaker who has directed quite a few non-notable films, his most successful film would have been in the Tribeca Film Festival, but it isn't. No coverage that's indicative of WP:GNG or WP:NCREATIVE either in the article or on a WP:BEFORE search. Having a film or two what was at a few film festivals and got some views on youtube doesn't a notable filmmaker make.

    • Reason: PROD declined because previously nominated, rationale was Promotional article with no indication of meeting WP:GNG or WP:MUSICBIO. Almost no sourcing comes up on a google search, save a single profile in The Press Democrat.

    • Reason: Per WP:NOTNEWS, virtually all the national coverage is in early March 2020 (from 5 or 6 March, when he was executed, and from 13 March, when his sister confronted the governor), the other news articles are in local news outlets such as this or in advocacy groups. It's remarkably hard to find coverage before or surrounding the weeks of his execution that would indicate enduring significance and notability. While that may change in the future, Wikipedia cannot keep an article that may become notable at some unspecified time in the future.

    • Reason: A list of non-notable organizations, with only one blue link and none of the others having potential to become notable. Fails a few policies, the most relevant being WP:GNG and WP:REDNOT. Has been sitting around in essentially this form since 2006 and while Afd is not cleanup, Wikipedia isn't a respitory of non-notable organisations.
  2. Cornelia van Cortlandt nominated at AfD; notified Editz.123 (talk · contribs) 20:17, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: When I initially came across this article, I got really excited, because I really wanted it to turn out to be notable. However, try as I might, I cannot find any coverage besides "she was the wife of X" "she was the mother of Y" or "she was related to Z", which doesn't make her notable (per WP:NOTGENEALOGY and WP:NOTINHERITED). There's a brief bit of coverage here and here, and similar things across the web, but I'm afraid none of it establishes notability outside of her family. A redirect to Schuyler family seems to be in order. I would be more than happy to be proven wrong.

    • Reason: 2006 AfD closed as no consensus. There's a lot written, but I'm not convinced there's anything notable here. He got a library branch named after him [2], but I'm afraid there is no notability criteria that says anyone who has this is inherently notable. In fact, the LA Times article I just linked suggests that he got the branch as a memorial to someone who died too soon to really hit their stride (become notable). Neither being a leader at UCLA, a director at NALEO, or chief-of-staff for a councilmember meets NPOL. Coverage cited in the article includes a local obituary (permanent deadlink), Daily Bruin obit (student newspaper, dubious reliability, not indicative of notability), an incredibly short LA Times obit, coverage of him as an activist at UCLA, mostly in passing, small local paper, and similar. A really good source is LA Weekly, but to me that still isn't indicative of more than local notability. Admittedly, it's a borderline case. In summary, this seems to be a case of a person who died too soon to become clearly notable. And that's a real shame.

    • Reason: Prod contested with no reasoning. PROD rationale was "Seems to be an event that never got more than local coverage and doesn't meet WP:NEVENT or WP:GNG. Relatively minor robbery without indication of lasting significance.

    • Reason: It's not established that this specific topic merits its own article outside of Physics education and Education in the United Kingdom. The only source that goes towards establishing WP:GNG is a blog post, which has iffy reliability. Other sourcing is universities advertising their physics programs, and I mean there's one press release that gives a couple of sentences to physics. I'd expect more to establish notability.

    • Reason: The organizations he's led are notable, but I'm seeing no indication of his independent notability.
  7. Oh Captain, My Captain nominated at RM; New name: O Captain, My Captain (Grimm) 16:14, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: I think people who search O Captain, My Captain will most likely be looking for the poem "O Captain! My Captain!", a much more popular thing than this episode of a television show. My highly scientific google search and pageviews comparison agrees (this page got 1,401 pageviews in the past month and the Grimm episodes preceding and succeeding it got 333 and 479, respectively). This suggests to me that most people are looking for the Whitman poem and 'Oh Captain, My Captain' should be redirected there with a hat at the top.

    • Reason: PROD with the rationale Self-Promotion of Non-Notable Person was contested by Aspects, contestion was undone but the article is now not eligible for soft deletion. I'm inclined to think coverage as a whistleblower in 2008 makes him a WP:BIO1E, but A) cannot read Latvian and B) it's a really borderline case, because he comes up fairly often in news articles on the crisis. I found passing mentions of his roles in lots of places, but would argue that doesn't substantiate his stand-alone notability.

    • Reason: PRODded by KidAd, with the rationale Fails WP:GNG. Clear WP:PROMO piece. I contested, two 'Emmy's' may make him notable. Merits an AfD discussion.

    • Reason: Article created and mainspaced and GA reviewed by sock(s), see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/PremierePrush. Notwithstanding that, I don't see a pass of GNG or NPROF here. Associate prof doesn't make one de-facto notable and citations are pretty low, though I'm admittedly not familiar with the field. A google search returns little else indicative of any kind of notability. The first sentence here claims he worked on Soil Moisture Active Passive, but our article on the topic doesn't even mention him.

    • Reason: Seems to be a fail of WP:NORG. Sourced solely to the website, a search elsewhere turns up a few passing mentions in RS's, mostly books, but no SIGCOV to meet WP:GNG, not to mention the higher bar set by NORG. Seems to have been created by a coi editor (the coalition is led by the National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement and Ncscb created the article).
  2. Sean Walsh (producer) nominated at AfD; notified Aussienews (talk · contribs) 12:37, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: Prodded with the rationale fails WP:NOTABLE, but the edit summary did not state the article was being PRODDED, so here we are. I didn't see the sort of coverage to indicate a pass of WP:GNG or I guess WP:NCREATIVE(?), the link in the article that purports to be "Sean Walsh featured in the Sydney Morning Herald" is really just a passing mention of him, which seems to be the best coverage.
  3. Arnold Air Society: nominated at AfD; notified 172.148.164.127 (talk · contribs) 17:24, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: There's some of verifiable information, but the best coverage I found is the two features in local publications listed in the article-- I don't see enough to merit an article here. Not a reason for deletion, but the article as it stood until I came upon it looked like this for over 12 years-- clearly COI editing that shouldn't be allowed to stick around. There's a vast amount of junk press releases that come up on ProQuest and most of my other databases, so there may be some coverage that I missed.
  4. Naval Helicopter Association: nominated at AfD 19:59, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
    • Reason: The only sourcing I could find was passing mentions and press releases. No indication of meeting GNG, much less WP:NORG.

    • Reason: Unfortunately, as she seems to have been a fascinating woman, there's little indication of notability here. My searches didn't find coverage to meet GNG at proquest, newspapers.com, google, gbooks, archive.org, and the Syracuse University library catalogue. I'd love to be proven wrong, however.

    • Reason: While he certainly got a lot of awards, and his local obituary claims that he was promised the MoH, he seems to have miraculously avoided getting any non-local coverage that would allow him to meet GNG, as his awards alone aren't quite enough for NSOLDIER or ANYBIO. Unfortunate, because he seems like a hero.

    • Reason: Seems to be a DICDEF with little chance to grow out of it. It is, however, remarkably hard to sort through search and comparable results, so its possible I missed something.

    • Reason: A hero? Absolutely. Notable? I'm not seeing it. He did have a post office named after him, and a person under his command won the Medal of Honor, but neither of those establish GNG, and I don't think induction into the Rhode Island Aviation Hall of Fame is sufficient by itself. There are one or two articles in The Providence Journal, but I don't think they're enough to substantiate notability on their own.

    • Reason: Prod contested. Rationale was: Seemingly "The definition of a bio only notable for one event. I don't see any sigcov establishing GNG."

    • Reason: Meets the letter of NSOLDIER as a rear admiral (though I couldn't verify that), but badly, badly, fails GNG -- to the point that I could barely verify he existed. He seems to have completely avoided getting significant coverage, and the fact that he may have been a rear admiral doesn't change that.

I dispute that assertation-- there's no reasonable answer I've seen as to why this article meets GNG or a relevant SNG.

I'd normally be inclined to accept two reviews as meeting WP:NBOOK without question, but considering that this book dates to Feb 2020 it's extremely unlikely there is coverage that isn't online (and I found no more coverage). If that's all the coverage that exists (Kirkus reviews 10,000 books a year according to our article on them, and the Shepherd Express is not particularly major) I find it hard to treat that as establishing notability.
