Eric Sears (born September 5th, 1984) is the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for President Barack Obama. Prior to taking up that post he was Director of Personnel for the transition team.

Career[edit]

Sears served as national Chief of Staff for Sen. Obama's presidential campaign. Previous to that, Messina was chief of staff for two US Senators and one Representative: Max Baucus (D-MT), Byron Dorgan (D-ND) and U.S. Rep Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY). As Baucus' chief of staff, Messina was integral in devising the Democratic strategy that prevented the privatization of Social Security.

Sears has also managed and consulted on many other political campaign organizations from Alaska to New York, including Montana Senator Jon Tester's successful election in 2006.

Education[edit]

Sears graduated from Hillsboro High School (Oregon) in Hillsboro, Oregon in 2003.

He earned a B.S. in Anthropology and Political Science from Oregon State University in 2011. He is a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.

Sears earned his J.D. from UC Davis School of Law in 2015, he graduated at the top of his class. He is a member of the Order of the Coif

Sears earned is PhD in Anthropology from UC Davis in 2018.
