Orphaned non-free media (Image:Gekkeiju Nebala.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gekkeiju Nebala.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:32, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

American Samoa

[edit]

I noticed you created an article on swamps of American Samoa. We are missing a List of rivers in American Samoa (as well as List of rivers in the Northern Mariana Islands). Do you know if there are even any rivers? Rmhermen 03:58, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Thomas_Ypsilantis.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Thomas_Ypsilantis.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 12:45, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Redirect of WP:WRITE

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on WP:WRITE, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because WP:WRITE is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting WP:WRITE, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Thanks for your upcoming service to our country! I spent four years in the U.S. Air Force, but we won't discuss exactly when that was  :-) Good Luck! -- Rock15(talk)(autograph) 04:21, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Patterns in multiple-choice tests, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Patterns in multiple-choice tests satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Patterns in multiple-choice tests and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Patterns in multiple-choice tests during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Ridernyc 09:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit]

Why would you revert the edit of my own talk page? It looks like I accidentally started an article on my username when I tried to access my user talk page. I posted the mistake on the talk page for that article and removed the long "candidate for speedy deletion" message from my user talk page. I'm not sure why you felt the need to revert my edit to my own talk page after that and replace the long disclaimer I'd already acknowledged. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spyder130 (talkcontribs) 02:13, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 21:23, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Acombe

[edit]

Hi, Back in Sept 2005 you created an article for Acombe a village in Somerset. As part of work with Wikipedia:WikiProject Somerset I'm trying to cleanup/expand lots of articles about local places, but I can't find Acombe on any maps - do you have any further info or remember!!! where you got the info from?— Rod talk 18:32, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Prodding Acombe

[edit]

Acombe

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Acombe, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Acombe. I still can't find any convincing evidence or further information for this village.— Rod talk 17:29, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

What's New?

The Assessment Department is new. Please help to assess via quality and importance Saskatchewan articles by using the parent Canada wikiproject template {{WikiProject Canada |class= |importance= | sk=yes }} along with the Assessment guidelines.

See also wikiproject template for other work groups with their wikiprojects as well as provinces which can be added to the Canadian template

The new template and assessment table worklist is produced periodically and was created by Arctic Gnome. Thank you very much! Please take a moment to send an award or other recognition

New Template Saskatchewan

  • AT Bot requests, another very kind user has also offered to help with the transition process (Thank you also to Ρх₥α )

The request conglomerated together the following tasks to help show the quantity / quality of Saskatchewan related articles:

  1. tag all articles in Category:Saskatchewan and all of its subcategories with {{WikiProject Canada |sk = | class=| importance=}} and if {{WikiProject Canada | class=| importance=}} already exists, then can just |sk=yes be added to the Canada template?
  2. all articles which have a Saskatchewan related stub Saskatchewan-politician-stub / Saskatchewan-stub / Saskatchewan-geo-stub to be tagged in their talk pages for wikiproject Saskatchewan and be classified as stub as such: {{WikiProject Canada |sk =yes | class=stub| importance=}}
  3. add GA or FA to to the class parameter of {{WikiProject Canada}} articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
  4. add stub to the class parameter if a stub tag is present on the article page.
  5. Replace the old tag {{Saskatchewanproject}} with the new parent wikiproject tag: {{WikiProject Canada |sk =yes | class=| importance=}} and if {{WikiProject Canada | class=| importance=}} already exists, then can just |sk=yes be added to the Canada template?
  6. add to the class area FL for any Featured-class lists articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.
  7. add to the class area List if the Saskatchewan related item in category:Saskatchewan articles if any other template has such a parameter value on the talk page.

Watch Arctic Gnome's assessment table worklist for progression undertaken by Ρх₥α. It is a very exciting time. Please take a moment to send an award or other recognition

Articles

[edit]

Hello Merovingian. Is it true that you have created over 18,000 articles? Why don't you create a sub-page and list all the articles you have created? It will help other users to know about your contributions. Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 04:51, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Even if the number is 17,000, that's great! I have created over 100 articles and I would like to create 1,000 articles one day. If someone creates 1,000 articles, I think that's great. That's a significant contribution for the project. I would like you to create a sub-page and list all the articles you have created. I would like to see articles you have created. Regards. Masterpiece2000 (talk) 09:14, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of 1519 in science, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.suprari.com/wiki.php?page=1520_in_science. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:53, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:44397.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:44397.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:57, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
