Alberta Highway 35 runs from Grimshaw, Alberta north to the border with the Northwest Territories, where it joins Northwest Territories Highway 1. The combined length is known as the Mackenzie Highway. Originally begun prior to World War II, the project was abandoned at the outbreak of war, then resumed in the early 1960s and completed to Hay River, Northwest Territories.
