Welcome to Wikipedia

[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Torb37, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! -- Underneath-it-All 15:55, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Type 97 Chi-Ha

[edit]

Could you provide a source (either book or webpage) for this "dynamo tank" - it doesn't sound credible to me (but I could be wrong). Your edit still remains in the history, so it can be recovered quickly. Sorry if I've stepped on your toes. Megapixie 12:21, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to chime in to commend you for your efforts on this article. You've done the lion's share of the work and it continues to improve with your attention. I've done some clean up to the language and format of the article, but your efforts are definitely the most significant. Like Megapixie above, I'm also interested in your sources for this information. If for no other reason than such things should go into the References and/or External Links sections of this article. In any case, kudos and keep up the good work. Geeman 23:00, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is up for deletion. I think if it is cut back and referenced it can be saved. Rich Farmbrough 10:05 27 August 2006 (GMT).

Your additions were repetitive, unstructured and constructed in poor grammar. Please look at the Manual of Style. GraemeLeggett 14:33, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This was a rude thing for GraemeLeggett to write; since he is also a talented, profilic and civil editor, I suspect he was just having a bad day -- this was out of character for him.
While I agree that your English is not perfect it is much better than my Japanese (I'm assuming you are Japanese). There may even be times when some other editors just have to delete one of your edits because they can't figure out how to restructure it. Please be patient, however, and don't get discouraged.
The substance and volume of your edits are invaluable to the English language version of Wikipedia since you often provide the Japanese view of the war in the Pacific. Wikipedia has many native English speakers who contribute little new substance but spend hours performing the equally useful work of cleaning up less than perfect writing by the rest of us. You may want to link up with one or more of them.
Thank you for your contributions -- please keep them coming. --A. B. 22:55, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as America acount of Japanese Special Attacks, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://www.tecom.usmc.mil/utm/kogun.txt. As a copyright violation, America acount of Japanese Special Attacks appears to qualify for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. America acount of Japanese Special Attacks has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. If the source is a credible one, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GFDL, you can comment to that effect on Talk:America acount of Japanese Special Attacks. If the article has already been deleted, but you have a proper release, you can reenter the content at America acount of Japanese Special Attacks, after describing the release on the talk page. Hello, when you want to link to the article about something British, please do not link to British, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as United Kingdom or Great Britain by writing out [[United Kingdom|British]] or [[Great Britain|British]]. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the 1st,2nd and 3rd Yokosuka SNLF Naval Raiding Unit article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

Feel free to re-submit a new version of the article. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I irrevocably release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, for use on Wikipedia and elsewhere."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. NatusRoma | Talk 23:06, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please use edit summaries

[edit]

Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be extremely low:

Edit summary usage for Torb37: 2% for major edits and 0% for minor edits. Based on the last 150 major and 0 minor edits in the article namespace.

Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 20:11, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese Army & Navy Air Service WWII Crew Losses

[edit]

Both Japanese Army Air Service WWII Crew Losses and Japanese Navy Air Service WWII Crew Losses have had the {{prod}} templates added to them, suggesting that they be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.A ll contributions are appreciated, but it isn't believed that they satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and it is explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the articles if their topics are worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues on their talk pages. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the articles may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where they may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if they match any of the speedy deletion criteria.

Takeji Nara needs references

[edit]

The article on Takeji Nara is very hard for me to make any sense of (see talk page). You started it - do you have some references (books, preferably) to add to the article, and can you fill out more about this person - including which century he lived in, and what wars he was part of? --Alvestrand 21:30, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I'm not sure if you're using a machine-translation tool or translating literally with a dictionary, but your recent articles are incoherent and not helpful to readers. If your first language is Japanese, perhaps you might want to consider paying a visit to http://ja.wikipedia.org and creating an article there first. Then, you can request a translation at Wikipedia:Translation. Otherwise, if you continue to create machine/literally-translated articles that are incoherent have no sources, I'm afraid many of them may be deleted. BuddingJournalist 05:44, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps it might be helpful if, after you create an article but before you submit it, you show it to a native-english speaker and ask him/her to help you tidy the language.--Anthony.bradbury 23:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Not to be rude, but could you please follow certain basic rules, like putting spaces after commas and using ', not ` for your apostrophes? And it's not "Fortelor Aeriene Regal ale Romania", but actually "Forţele Aeriene Regale ale României" - please try to get these things right. Biruitorul 09:34, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and another point. Regarding articles such as Forţele Aeriene Regale ale României, Magyar Légierő and Slovenske Vzdusne Zbrane - not only are they written in sub-literate English, but are they even necessary? Why not have them as sections within pre-existing articles, like Romanian Air Force? Biruitorul 04:50, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please have a look at Morskaya Aviatsiya.

Your page List of WWII Italian tanks and armour needs to be wikified. -- Cabalamat 23:44, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some people have already corrected 'nigth' to 'night' in the article, but that doesn't help if the article itself has a bad title. You should find out how to 'move' the article to the correct name List of WW2 Japanese Night Aircraft. Shenme 06:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WWII Jet Aircraft

[edit]

Thanks for the correction on the Reggiane fighter. I thought something looked wrong, but I'm used to thinking of turbojets as jets and thermojets as "not really jets," so I didn't catch the oddity. The Dark 19:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please respond

[edit]

Greetings. This is by no means a threat, but if you repeatedly fail to respond to people's messages, despite their containing valid concerns, that is unbecoming conduct. Let me raise a fresh concern of my own. Vazhdushnite na Negovo Velichestvo Voyski, like many of the articles you write, a) is probably not necessary, as we already have an article on the Bulgarian Air Force where any useful content can be included, b) has a title few people here will understand (use English titles, in other words), and c) is written in atrocious prose. Now, could you please address my concerns? The fact is that many of your articles need massive cleanup work and may not even be necessary. It would be good if we could find some solution. But please do reply, because my patience is not limitless. Biruitorul 01:37, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns

[edit]

There have been many concerns about your style of writing and editing on Wikipedia. Please address these concerns as necessary and respond to comments appropriately, as failure to do so may result in consequences on Wikipedia. A reminder of writing and creating titles in English is necessary, as well as verifiability and reliable sourcing. --KzTalkContribs 06:40, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi.

[edit]

I have proposed a vast amount of the articles you have created for deletion. I shall interpret continued failure to reply as an endorsement of their deletion. Salad Days 00:15, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Type 4 Heavy Machine Gun, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. An editor has nominated Republic of Eastern Turkestan and Axis Powers Links, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Republic of Eastern Turkestan and Axis Powers Links and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Blocked

[edit]

Most or nearly everything that you write has to be removed, reverted or AfDed by other editors because it is so incoherent that it borders on patent nonsense. This is disruptive and a waste of the time of those who have to clean up after you. Additionally, you have refused to communicate in any way with other editors, despite having received numerous warnings (see above). For these reasons, I am blocking you from editing Wikipedia until you have convinced us that you are able and willing to talk to us and to contribute in coherent English. To contest this block, post {{unblock|<your reason for unblock here>}} below. Sandstein 19:38, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Panzer IX and Panzer X requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article List of aircraft engines used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
