Standardizing article format

Hi Addaick. Your edits in music pages are very much welcome. When you create new articles about a musical composition, you can make them better by following a standard format. You're welcome, Atavi. Changing an article's title actually requires moving the article itself. Click on the 'move' tab at the top right of the page and read the instructions carefully.

It appeared to me to be a book. I don't know about symphonies or whatever this is (I don't work with music articles on purpose), but you need to establish its notability better. Hello Addaick. The comment in my edit summary was in fact directed at Nyttend (talk · contribs) who earlier requested the speedy deletion of the article as a non-notable book. I removed the speedy deletion request since 1) it's not a book and 2) it most likely is notable enough to have an article. I sugget however that you further assert the importance of the piece, in particular by providing further references to third-party commentary of the piece. Feel free to remove the tag I put on top of the article when you feel that the issue has been addressed and let me know if you have further questions. Well, without going into too much details, we can either choose not to block the other accounts from the same IP when we block (but in 99% of the cases, we do want to do this since most people don't share their IP), or lift the autoblock once someome complained about being blocked and having nothing to do with the vandal. Hi, and thanks for writing. It's great to hear from a teen in Hong Kong! As to your question, if I understand you correctly, you are asking about the differences between an "incident" and an "accident"? If so, the difference is severity in terms of whether someone is injured/killed or not. This is described in detail at Aviation accidents and incidents.

As for whether an incident/accident is "notable" in terms of encyclopedic content, we currently have a draft guideline being discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation/Aviation accident task force, it's item 11 on the table of contents; this will give you an idea of the types of incidents and accidents that are worth including. Engine failure from injesttion of FOD is a surprisingly common occurrence. Yes, this one was a bit unusual and harrowing for the passengers to experience two engine failures on subsequent flights, but then again, looked at from another perspective, this just shows how safe aircraft and operational procedures are...the engines had issues, but at the end of the day, no one was hurt. Joseph's and Michael's are more interconnected than you might realize. But even if that wasn't the case, wouldn't some kind of uniformity across symphony articles (for symphonies by any composer) be desirable?

Whichever way you feel about uniformity, I still would like to hear your comments on the specific article I mentioned above. What's good about it? What's not good about it? Jindřichův Smith 15:38, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

We should discuss this particular issue with others who might have an opinion before any of us tries to uniformize this all by himself. That's a massive task, and there are other massive tasks which interest me more.

However, I have no preference for "instrumentation" or "scoring." What I don't like so much is having a bunch of level 2 headings for 1-line paragraphs. On the other hand, many scores do devote an entire page to merely listing the instruments. Jindřichův Smith 22:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Edo de Waart/HK Phil post

There are two different sections on the Edo de Waart page on his conducting posts. His Hong Kong Philharmonic post is at the bottom with the template that says "Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra Artistic Directors". Template colors

User:CenturionZ 1 has been standardizing the composition templates to tan. I don't have strong opinions about the color as long as the content is good. Looks like the Bax templates match the other templates right now. DavidRF 17:51, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Request for unblocking

Technically there's a way to prevent users from your university to be blocked when an other user is blocked, but that implies disallowing unregistered users to edit, and to create an account. I'll ask around to see what's best :). -- lucasbfr ^talk 13:57, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Piano Quintet No. 2 (Dvořák)

Yeah, that's annoying. The editor simply pastes in the text from online program notes and leaves us to clean up. At least he/she added citations so we knew where they were from, but still these online program notes have a way of disappearing at the end of the venue's season. These program/liner notes are promotional, too, so they'll be littered with POV statements. I'll see what I can do. My guess is a lot of it gets removed. DavidRF (talk) 04:50, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the confusion. Often, I do my edits in pieces. I found a book (Berger) that contains most of the same information and I was in the process of migrating the article. Sometimes I put the Notes and References in separate sections so my footnotes can repeat and be shorter. DavidRF (talk) 05:18, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah. Separate sections. I'd like to change all the notes to Berger, though as I like footnotes that point to books. As for the other two that the original poster added in his edit, I'm thinking of leaving those in as references because some vestiges of them may remain after I'm done editing. So, it was very awkward trying to reword plagiarized text with the help of another very similar source. Please do feel free to tidy it up as you please. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge!
