Information icon Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to MWEB—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Hi there

We have been acquired by Webafrica so we are trying to update the company ownership names. Adriantrevorpunt (talk) 19:40, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Adriantrevorpunt, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Webafrica, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Below is my draft. Is this sufficient?

The {{help me}} template is not suitable for draft reviews. If you wish to have your draft reviewed, please edit the page and place {{subst:submit}} on the first line, which will put it in the category for reviews via the AFC process. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 19:58, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You mean place subst:submit in the Sandbox environment or straight into Production? Adriantrevorpunt (talk) 19:59, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You mean place subst:submit in the Sandbox environment or straight into Production?
Adriantrevorpunt (talk) 20:01, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was busy applying your suggestions but then I got a message from @Ros Gill saying that she blocked my account.
What do I do now? @Primefac/@Wikishovel?
I understand that I need to edit 2 things:
Put connected contributor (paid)}} at the top of the page.
Remove the bits with references to news articles?
What do I do know that I cannot edit the post to have a chance at correcting it? Adriantrevorpunt (talk) 20:47, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Request reason:

check my conversations with user: GoingBatty - they are helping me with my entry. We're working through it, now I'm blocked. Please unblock so I can complete the necessary guidance from GoingBatty

Decline reason:

Company updates should be made to your company's web page and not to this encyclopedia. You will not be unblocked to write about or link to your company. If unblocked, you may discuss content and sourcing on the article's talk page. "All content must generally be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking." Please describe what edits you would make unrelated to your company/any WP:conflict of interest. Please be aware that Wikipedia accounts are not to be shared. Thanks. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 21:44, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

[edit]

I am sorry, but you will not be unblocked to add promotional material written by your company's marketing department. That is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia and it is not going to happen. Please read Wikipedia:When your boss tells you to edit Wikipedia. Cullen328 (talk) 21:12, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
