Move sets

[edit]

Please do not remove sourced information from articles without a proper reason, as you have been doing with your recent edits to professional wrestling move sets. In addition, when adding information, please provide a reliable source. Without proper sourcing, your additions will likely be reverted as per Wikipedia policies. Thanks. Nikki311 00:55, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The things I added were actual moves that they used, and I linked them to the proper page. Some people didn't properly link some of the edits, didn't list them in the correct order and some moves were added to several pages that said wrestler did not use, so that's why I changed them. AjaKongfan

When you change a move, you have to cite the sources you used. Otherwise, you are adding original research, which is against Wikipedia policy. An expert in the field has to name the move, we can't use our personal knowledge. Nikki311 01:12, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Youtube videos do not count as reliable sources for moves unless the commentator names the move. Pictures are not reliable sources because you are interpreting what the move is. The best sources for moves are match reports by experts in the field. Please see WP:PW/RS for a list of acceptable sources. In addition, multiple sources are needed to prove that the move is indeed signature; otherwise all you've done is prove they used it once. Lastly, please do not remove sources when you re-order a list. Thanks. Nikki311 02:03, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you're saying, but then how come others have added moves and don't have them listed in the correct order or haven't sourced them either? Also, how would moves be added anyways if we can't use our own knowledge of the moves? (ones who have actually watched wrestling and know what the moves are called or nicknamed). Just seems like an attack on me really for changing it and making it more proper. AjaKongfan

It isn't an attack on you, and I can't help what is already there. I don't have any interest in going through the moves, sourcing them, and removing what isn't correct. I can, however, educate people who are adding new moves on Wikipedia policies regarding sourcing, which will hopefully cut down on the unsourced/incorrect moves. As I have previously mentioned, an expert in the field needs to identify what the moves are. There is a list of reliable sources at WP:PW/RS, which includes several websites where they report on the matches and identify moves. Nikki311 06:56, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Pro wrestler move sets

[edit]

When did it change to where given names of pro wrestling maneuvers aren't supposed to be Italicized? I keep seeing this reverted to regular font on certain pages (Brock Lesnar, Paige, etc.) while other pages remain untouched. Who keeps changing this and why is it like this? Hopefully an answer can be provided. AjaKongfan

I saw your question on Brock Lesnar's talk page before you moved it here. The short answer is that it shouldn't be that way on any wrestler's page; I just fix it on the ones I'm paying attention to. No manual of style that I'm aware of (Wiki's own MOS:ITALICS, MLA, Chicago, etc.) indicates that sports moves should be italicized (Wiki's specifically advises against it, even). It's been pointed out that the WP:PW MOS suggests italics, but the broader MOS supersedes that (WP:Local consensus), especially since move italicization serves no functional purpose—it's essentially redudnant with capitalizing the move names. Hope that clears it up some. --Xanzzibar (talk) 02:11, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I just don't see why something that has been done and left alone for several years suddenly needs to be changed. I feel that the reason Italicizing was done to begin with was to highlight the move name and to separate it from the rest of the text, as to not create a "run-on sentence". Also, there are words in parenthesis that do not need them and first-word capitalization has always been the case when the type of move is listed under parenthesis. I am hoping that whomever the administrators of Wikipedia are can put something definitive to this so that texts are not continuously edited and reverted and so forth. AjaKongfan

Victoria/Naomi move sets

[edit]

Most of the sources added on both article are unreliable, also please read the Wikiproject guide for wrestling articles, in the case of both of them some moves just have one source which cant be in since the use of one move do not counts it needs of more sources to be added, it isn't vandalism everything is according to the guide style please read it there's no vandalism in here. Read the full article in here Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Style guide.TheBellaTwins1445(talk) 23:23, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Instead of just removing ALL the finishers and signature moves that you removed, how about finding reference sources for them? Removing moves that they used, especially finishers, seems abusive and needs to be addressed and taken care of.

  • I do not have the necessity for, however, if you can help that might be good but with reliable sites, if you read the full article there you might find information for, also that over the shoulder finisher she did was just one use which does not counts as a finishing one.TheBellaTwins1445(talk) 00:24, August 22, 2016 (UTC)
