If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lone Wolves (novel series) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Seduisant (talk) 04:24, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Lone Wolves (novel series)

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from Lone Wolves (novel series). Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
  2. This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willing to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 04:37, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hello, Aksonjackson. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 05:21, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated move of article to mainspace

[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to drop you a note and explain why your page is continually being deleted. I see that you're very, very new to Wikipedia and I don't believe that anyone has really taken the time to explain why the page is being deleted in more detail.

To put it very bluntly, the book is not considered to be notable per WP:NBOOK. This doesn't mean that it isn't a good thing that you wrote a book or that self-published books will never deserve an article, just that you lack reliable sources to show that your book series or yourself is notable at this point in time. What would a reliable source be? Reliable sources are things such as news articles, book reviews, interviews, or TV spots that have been conducted through sites and people that Wikipedia considers to be reliable and independent of you. An article written about your series in the Village Voice would help show notability, however an article written on a book review blog would not. The reason is that most blogs are not considered to be reliable sources because just about anyone can start up a blog and most times the people are not what Wikipedia would consider to be a trusted authority. If you had a blog that was written by the guy in charge of Publishers Weekly, that would count towards notability. But a blog written by Rita Regular would not be usable, regardless of how good her reviews might seem or how long she might have been blogging. A good rule of thumb with blogs is to assume that they are never usable. If you think you might have found one of the blogs that are the rare exception to the rule, make sure to run it through Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard first. There are a lot of times where a source might seem like a "sure thing" but isn't considered to be a reliable source. On the flip side, sometimes there are sources that you might not automatically think would be usable that might be. That's why it's a good idea to heavily utilize the noticeboard until you're more familiar with reliable sources. It's one of those things that I wish someone had pointed out to me when I was very new to the site that I always like pointing out to others.

Now you might be asking "But what about stuff that I've written? Isn't that reliable?" In a word, no. It's not, at least not as far as notability goes. The rationale behind this is that you can write whatever you want about yourself. Most times people are fairly honest in what they write, but there's always the potential for people to embellish what they've done or to hold up things that might not be all that important as things that show absolute importance. Anything that is released by yourself, anyone representing you, your friends/family, or companies you might be associated with would be considered a WP:PRIMARY source. You can sometimes use primary sources to back up very trivial matter, but you're supposed to use other sources that are both independent of yourself and considered reliable along with it. Basically, you're supposed to have other sources listed to where using a primary source is unnecessary. The only things you can generally use a primary source for are for things like page count or very minor things, which almost always never need to be backed up. I pretty much try to never use a primary source at any time because unless I have an independent and reliable source to back it up, there's not much point to it. There are exceptions to this, but I've only ever used a primary source maybe about 5-7 times because if it's worth including, there are other things you can use.

I also wanted to warn you about adding things that you are personally involved in. It's fairly obvious that you are either the author or someone who knows him, as the book series is relatively unknown of and only released this year. There aren't any rules against someone adding an article about themselves or their works, but it is discouraged. Why? Because it's so easy to see notability where there isn't any and to be biased in one way or another. This is what we call a conflict of interest (WP:COI) and it often gets in the way, whether you realize it or not. There have been a lot of instances where someone wrote an article about themselves or something they're involved in, then took it very personally when the article was speedy deleted or nominated for deletion in some format or another. There are instances where people have helped to write articles and been neutral about it, but it's really not encouraged. I always recommend that someone with a conflict of interest go through one of the pertinent WikiProjects if they really want to work on an article about themselves. Now I also want to point out that if one of your friends, family, publisher, or agents were to write about you, they'd have a conflict of interest as well. A good rule of thumb if you have a conflict of interest or think that you might have one is to always be up front about your association with the article on your user page.

Now here comes the biggie: Wikipedia is not a platform for advertisement. Before you start getting hurt feelings, saying that you didn't come here to promote yourself, be aware that repeatedly adding your book to Wikipedia can be seen as self-promotion and spamming. If your article has been deleted, then it was because it wasn't notable per Wikipedia's guidelines. The next thing from there is to try having it go through AfC, but generally speaking if you get deleted from the mainspace and declined in the AfC, your article doesn't belong on Wikipedia. It might seem harsh to say this, but it's the truth. Your series lacks any sources that would give it notability per Wikipedia's guidelines and ultimately it's those guidelines that we have to follow. Repeatedly adding it will only get you eventually blocked for spamming and the article space salted if the admins think it necessary. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by doing this.

This might be a little long, but I wanted to elaborate on exactly why all of this is happening.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 04:07, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Aksonjackson. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Lone Wolves (novel series)".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13. An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 06:00, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
