This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. You are using Wikipedia to link to your own articles and your own book, and now you are trying to publish your own biography. A few things: first of all, I will leave a templated notification for you, so you can't claim you were not notified about Conflict of Interest editing. Second, you've made some edits here, so you should know how it works: you can't post the LinkedIn version of your biography, submit it, and think it will be accepted. Thank you for that. I was at least being transparent - others simply pay someone to put up a biography or set up a false account - and the biography doesn't make any claims that aren't backed up by the books listed (with ISBNs). Given that most of what I might add on Wikipedia is likely to be backed up by my own work (and I was only adding my own work to pages where I thought it made a genuine contribution to further reading), then your ruling has effectively ended any chance of my contribution to the page. Well, if I have been self-promotional, you can go ahead and prove that on WP:AN and call for my head. You'll just have to be careful of personal harassment and doxxing. I think--besides that mean streak--you don't really understand how Wikipedia works. If you were to place valid and relevant information in some article and give your own article as a reference, someone might raise an eyebrow, but the publication is peer-reviewed and thus acceptable as a source. But if you simply stick it in an article, everyone here is going to think you're promoting yourself. As for your own article, you can't "back things up" with an ISBN, since information here, especially in a biography of a living person, needs to be verified by secondary sources. If you know anything about Wikipedia, you should know that. And now you do. How is an article on you notable? If the subject is proven to be notable, either via WP:GNG or via WP:NPROF. This is the kind of thing that helps, and I am sure you kept a folder with reviews of the various monographs. But if you think of Wikipedia as a kind of LinkedIn, where ISBNs and faculty webpages suffice, I'm afraid you have the wrong idea. As for COI disclosure, that's just one of the rules we play by. I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.
