Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk. Also, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 06:43, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Snoopy.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Snoopy.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shannernanner 07:59, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images on your userpage

[edit]

Hello All systems go, I have removed the images on your user page because they were uploaded to Wikipedia under a claim of fair use, and these images can't be used on userpages. For more info see WP:FUC. You can find replacement images that can be used on the commons, a sister project of Wikipedia that gathers free to use images. You can link to those images just as you can images here. Thank you for understanding, Prodego talk 01:02, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually no, you are free to use Image:Anarchy symbol neat.png (but you should use Image:Anarchy-symbol.svg instead, it is a higher quality), I removed that one by mistake. However, the others were all album covers, and copyrighted by either the publisher or artist. Prodego talk 01:22, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You mean like the little Wikipedia globe in the top of my userpage? Prodego talk 01:57, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
People put them there, usually to represent groups they are part of. In my case the Wikipedia globe with the mop is because I am an administrator, and the bronze ball because I am a VP moderator, and I couldn't find a better image to represent VandalProof (a program used in fighting vandalism). Prodego talk 02:01, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They use use evil CSS hacks, and mess up some skins so beware, but use:
<div style="position:absolute; z-index:100; right:20px; top:5px;" class="metadata" id="administrator">{{click|link=Wikipedia:Administrators|image=Admin mop.PNG|width=25px|height=25px|title=This user is an administrator.}}</div>.
You need to change the numbers to use more them one, and obviously the title, image, link, and id. You may be more interested userboxes which offer an easier way to show these types of things. You can see them near the bottom of my userpage (but still in the green area). Prodego talk 02:09, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly, go ahead. Let me know if you need any help, it is rather complex ;-). Alternately I could build a brand new one for you, just give me a design (or I could just come up with something if you don't care). Prodego talk 00:54, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FOB and Barnstar

[edit]

I know I was so it got deleted! Well thanks for the barnstar by the way!Coocooforcocopuffs 02:33, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

It was "irrelavent information", but it's all true, and it's pretty interesting too!Coocooforcocopuffs 22:14, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello All systems go, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:TheClashLondonCallingalbumcover.jpg) was found at the following location: User:All systems go/userboxes. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 22:52, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Nickomatic.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nickomatic.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:29, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Little context in RelaxA

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on RelaxA, by 195.137.30.238 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because RelaxA is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting RelaxA, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 17:13, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images in the userspace

[edit]

I have removed the image Image:TheClashLondonCallingalbumcover.jpg from your userspace User:All systems go/Userboxes/User clash. Please be aware that images that are clamied as fair use have a restriction in location:

From the policy page Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria
9. Restrictions on location. Non-free content is allowed only in articles (not disambiguation pages), and only in article namespace, subject to exemptions. (To prevent an image category from displaying thumbnails, add __NOGALLERY__ to it; images are linked, not inlined, from talk pages when they are a topic of discussion.)

Placing image in the userspace such as User:All systems go/Userboxes/User clash is a violation and has been removed. Please do not restore this image without consoltation. Thank you. — Save_Us_229 15:53, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Message from WikiProject Punk music

[edit]

Hello!

You may be interested to know that WikiProject Punk music has recently undergone a major revitalization. Please visit the project page to see our new look and check out some of our helpful new features, such as the Assessment Department and the Collaboration of the week. There are also a number of tasks on our Things to do page that you may be interested in helping with.

We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Please visit the project's talk page and add your signature to the roll sheet to express your continued interest in the project. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your punk-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. If you do not add your signature to the roll sheet by November 30, 2008 your name will be moved to our list of inactive members. We may also take the liberty of removing the project userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:WikiProject Punk music members. Of course you are free to rejoin the project and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active in the project again.

Thank you and we hope you will continue to support WikiProject Punk music!

Proposed deletion of ¡Policia! - A Tribute to the Police

[edit]

The article ¡Policia! - A Tribute to the Police has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable tribute album, non-charting, little media coverage of substance. Fails WP:NALBUMS.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
