Sheeran at Ipswich Town

Intriguing...I removed as he wasn't listed at Ipswich Town F.C.#Current squad... GiantSnowman 21:58, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

@GiantSnowman: The general impression is its a ceremonial position/marketing ploy. I'd take the official website as more up to date but naturally if you ask 2 different organisations the same question you'll get at leas 3 different answers. Worst comes to worst ill have to pop down the road and ask for an official statement. Amortias (T)(C) 22:01, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

Polite Ask

Is there any way that I can get the nickname Babs back in the Tony’s Personal Life section? I can’t find any online sources as evidence!

Many thanks 2A02:C7F:5027:4300:9CE4:BE08:2279:6355 (talk) 22:30, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

Unfortunatley not. We require all information in Wikipedia articles to be verifiable by independent reliable (preferebly 3rd party) sources. With regards to living people the standard for inclusion is even higher as there are potential ramifications for the organisation if they host factually incorrect statements that are proven to harm/slander/cause reputational damage to individuals. Although the inclusion of a nickname is (probably) uncontroversial and would cause no harm we have to judge all statements by the same level of reliability be they positive/neutral/negative so as to provide a balanced encyclopedia. From a research perspective this sounds like the sort of thing that might be locateable in local newspapers/online local town magazines (or possibly even political/campaign advertising) so id look there for a potential source. Amortias (T)(C) 22:35, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

Excuse me?

Since when is a source needed for undoing edits that vandalized content? Please me more careful when redacting changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:A61:3A4C:4A01:583F:2E13:4DB3:6DCE (talk) 15:22, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

The first line of the reverted edit was about an unsourced (as far as i can see within the article) controvery about the airport, that needs sourcing. for it. Ive gone back and removed that section (as i edit conflicted while restoring the other sections - im assuming with yourself). Amortias (T)(C) 15:26, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

updating Dirk Lohan's entry

You left me a message about a COI regarding edits I have been trying to make to the listing for Dirk Lohan. I am his business partner and friend and am simply trying to update his entry to indicate that he is still in practice, and where. If it is acceptable to list people and firms he worked with in the past, is it not also acceptable to mention that he is still working, and where? Help me understand why this edit has been rejected, please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcbarnesarchitect (talkcontribs) 23:27, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

@Mcbarnesarchitect: All we need is a reliable source in the form of a reference to confirm it. In this instance the business website saying hes employed there would suffice. If theres anything in the article that's no longer relevant then we can remove that. AS there is a potential conflict of interest we tend to advise that you go to the articles talk page here and make a new post advising what needs adding and a link to what supports it and also what needs removing (and what supports its removal/invalidates the previous reference that supported its inclusion). I'll keep an eye on it for another hour or so before i have to call it quits for the night or give it a look tomorrow if the request is still outstanding at the talk page. Amortias (T)(C) 23:33, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

I am brand new to editing on Wikipedia so I apologize if I have tried to make the edit or communicate with you incorrectly. The first time I edited the text for Dirk, I included a link to the business website that verifies that it is his new business and that it is where he is working, but that was deleted by someone else. The business name is Lohan Architecture, the website is [1]. It is Dirk's own and only architecture firm now. He is a majority owner. Please let me know if there is some other way to verify this. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcbarnesarchitect (talkcontribs) 23:38, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Will have a look now. Amortias (T)(C) 23:42, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
@Mcbarnesarchitect:. Page updated and have added links to support some of the statements in the article. Cant guarantee it will hold as Wikipedia is a constantly evolving piece of work but we've gone about doing it in the right way so should be less kickback than plowing ahead without following best practice. Amortias (T)(C) 23:54, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Also as you may have noted spelling isn't my strong point. Amortias (T)(C) 23:57, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

December 2021 GOCE Newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors December 2021 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to the December GOCE newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since September 2021.

                 Current and upcoming events

Election time: Our end-of-year election of coordinators opened for nominations on 1 December and will close on 15 December at 23:59 (UTC). Voting opens at 00:01 the following day and will continue until 31 December at 23:59, just before "Auld Lang Syne". Coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here.

December Blitz: We have scheduled a week-long copy-editing blitz for 12 to 18 December. Sign up now!

Drive and Blitz reports

September Drive: Almost 400,000 words of articles were copy edited for this event. Of the 27 people who signed up, 21 copyedited at least one article. Final results and awards are listed here.

October Blitz: From 17 to 23 October, we copy edited articles tagged in May and June 2021 and requests. 8 participating editors completed 26 copy edits on the blitz. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

November Drive: Over 350,000 words of articles were copy edited for this event. Of the 21 people who signed up, 14 copyedited at least one article. Final results and awards are listed here.

Other news

It is with great sadness that we report the death on 19 November of Twofingered Typist, who was active with the Guild almost daily for the past several years. His contributions long exceeded the thresholds for the Guild's highest awards, and he had a hand in innumerable good and featured article promotions as a willing collaborator. Twofingered Typist also served as a Guild coordinator from July 2019 to June 2021. He is sorely missed by the Wikipedia community.

Progress report: As of 30 November, GOCE copyeditors have completed 619 requests in 2021 and there were 51 requests awaiting completion on the Requests page. The backlog stood at 946 articles tagged for copy-editing (see monthly progress graph above).

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Dhtwiki, Tenryuu, and Miniapolis.

To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Nicole Ayers

Nichole Ayers which you deleted was a cut and paste of a NASA press release and not from yahoo. Yahoo has just copied the NASA text. NASA press releases are public domain and therefore the deletion was not justified. thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:CB0C:65A:2200:C129:26C3:514D:F05E (talk) 22:05, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Greetings. I saw you removed the G12 tag on this article. Yet almost all the prose is appears to be a direct copypaste of something written over 3 years ago. Did I miss it being a mirror somehow? Onel5969 TT me 20:14, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

onel5969. The link it was pointing to was (and the comments section attached) didn't exist until after the article was created. The section about 3 years ago in the post on the right hand side of the page (although it says 3 years ago) talks about things in June of this year in the past tense, if this had been written 3 years ago then I feel it was unlikely (though not impossible) that they could so accurately date when something was going to be released enough. Its quite possibly copied from somewhere but it doesn't appear to be that page. I'm currently digging to see if I can figure out where it may have originated from. Amortias (T)(C) 20:26, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
Right. So the original post made 3 years ago rather than replacing it or putting any sign of any updates/changes onto/into it just got modified with no sign of it having occurred. From comments etc on it it would appear to have been edited about 6 months ago rather than the 3 years ago it was posted originally. Im assuming the page was previously titled something else or stored elsewhere as theres no evidence I can find of this page before the 1st December. Regardless I've deleted it. Amortias (T)(C) 20:52, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for taking another look, and for the detailed information. I was afraid I had somehow missed it being a mirror. Thanks again, and for all you do on the project. Onel5969 TT me 21:00, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Anavil Brahmins

The information you revert is a false information. The Desai surname was given during the era of Maratha empire by Peshwa and Anavil Brahmin used to collect tax for Peshwa and Rulers in that era. We never collected tax for Mughal….The information about my caste provided is a false information I request to make changes.I hope you reply.Thank you Rishi.A.Desai (talk) 04:25, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

Contesting the Speedy Deletion of jayjaybaldwin/sandbox

Hi, I was in the early process of crafting an encyclopedia article for a small business, but the content was flagged for speedy deletion. I would like to request that the content be reinstated as a draft article, so that any issues with the content, or with content citations, can be properly noted and appropriately fixed.

It is my opinion that using Wikipedia's speedy deletion option to remove content created about small business entities without providing appropriate feedback to authors to fix content issues is unprofessional. Excessive overuse of the speedy deletion option deprives Wikipedia readers and Internet users of opportunities to learn about relevant small businesses, while giving large businesses and publicly-traded businesses free advertising on Wikipedia. This unintentionally deceives Wikipedia readers and Internet users into believing that products and services that are provided by large companies are superior to products and services provided by their small business competitors, when this is rarely the case in real life.

Please reinstate the content of jayjaybaldwin/sandbox. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayjaybaldwin (talkcontribs) 04:40, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

Jayjaybaldwin Unfortunately the page itself read as if it was an advertisement for services. Wikipedia articles must be neutral in tone and prove how the company meets the criteria for inclusion, the page you were in the process of creating met neither the criteria for neutrality or notability and would not be suitable for inclusion in its current format. If you wish to write an article about this organisation then I would suggest you review the guidance here on how to go about ensuring you have the required evidence tone and required level of information to increase the articles chances of being able to be published. At this time however it would appear to be quicker to start afresh than it would be to recreate this page so i would be disinclined to restoring it in tis current format. Deletion of Kazi Lutfar Rahman

I have seen you have removed article named Kazi Lutfar Rahman. He has done a wonderful research which has been published by plos one. And he has an entertainer too. So why do you think he is not eligible? Sorghum 05:05, 20 December 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by প্রলয়স্রোত (talkcontribs)

প্রলয়স্রোত Articles in Wikipedia must show how the subject of the article meets the criteria for inclusion. The article in question failed to establish this and as such was unable to remain in the encyclopedia. If there are further developments in the life of this individual then it may be possible for them to be included but at present there is little evidence to show how they meet the requirements for inclusion. respected sir why u feeling my cyclopedia not has importance , we are ready to donate for wikipedia if needed kindly do need ful — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mayurdatta (talkcontribs) 08:01, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

@Mayurdatta: Wikipedia articles have to meet various criteria for notability which is what are requirements for inclusion are. The specific criteria we would have been looking for with regards to this specific article would have been these. From the information provided there was no evidence of having met any of these criteria. If these criteria are ever met then the article could be reconsidered once this evidence is available. With regards to donations to Wikipedia in return for article space, I can confirm that this is not used in any circumstances for judging if an article is fit for inclusion nor would any donation override policy. I would also note from your username that this article appears to be an autobiographical article which we advise against. Amortias (T)(C) 21:15, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

My deleted information.

I don't think this deleting my writing was fair and out of line. I wrote what you seeto think is a blog. Misinterpreted and what I wrote was about is just like other people had wrote format. What I wrote are facts just like every one else.

Sonja Bysonja (talk) 18:09, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

@Bysonja: Userpages are used to give us information about the author that is relevant to the wider aims of Wikipedia. They may give us some background to the user a listing of their on site works or editing history or possibly just a brief summary of themselves. They are not meant to be used as a webhosting platform to provide specifics about the history of their family or the land they lived/owned. I believe that my deletions of this were in line with policy but if you disagree then you are welcome to either raise this as either this page for a review of the deletion or this page if you believe that it was a significant breech of administrative function. Hi! I don't know if it comes in handy or even if you are the one I have to inform (for administrative purposes), but I want to let you know I'm the one in an 'edit war' with user Revirvlkodlaku about the origins of the band 2 Unlimited. I registered today and have reached out to Revirvlkodlaku to further discuss our disagreement. I wanted to let you know because I wasn't trying to hide anonymously ; I was just too lazy to register again (lost my original login). I'm trying to find my way in Wikipedia but more than half of it is Chinese to me, so I'm not sure who to adress or how. If I should notify somebody else, can you let me know? This in unhelpful. There is zero reason to decline the deletion of a page that is no longer needed because it might be eventually recreated once it is needed again. The bot is working exactly as intended, and declining the G6 is what is causing headaches and overheads. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 14:40, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

If the page keeps getting recreated and then needs deleting I'd be inclined to say the bot isn't working as expected. If you could point me to the link that says that the bot job will run, create a new page that is then manually required to be tagged for deletion then I may reconsider but until then the bot should probably be fixed before it just goes and recreates the page. Amortias (T)(C) 14:52, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
User:JL-Bot creates the WP:CITEWATCH compilation with every new WP:DUMP based on User:JL-Bot/Questionable.cfg. It lists a bunch of things, in batches of 100 to facilitate human review, and some of which are false positives. Manual review of those happens, false positives are bypassed, and the compilation updates itself again. If enough are bypassed, then the bot doesn't need as many pages. /Questionable6 is now useless leftover, because the compilation now stops at /Questionable5. Matthew Olshefski and Paul Castle

Look you need to stop Censoring the changes that I am making to Mr. Matthew Olshefski's wiki pay all the changes that were made are 1000000% true Matthew Olshefski and his family were in a cult that told him that being gay was a sin there is a video about his past he talked about escaping the cult at 21 his dad leaving living on his friends couches his husband Paul Castle talked about his past going parting getting drunk like his mother becoming a homeless alcoholic going to rehab being diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at 16 its all on there podcast His and his I have talked to two people who they betrayed ryan hunt and Jake Alexander Magnone. Ryan was hurt by them when they would not post his wish to Paul to get better in 2020 when he was sent to the hospital with a fever they only care about money Jake Alexander Magnone had been hurt and betrayed by the mother of a man he is in love with and he needs there help but they don't care about helping people in need Paul has lied about his book the Pengrooms saying it would be out in Jun the in December now 3-4 months they did get married in Mexico and unknown source found documents that Matthew Olshefski's real last name is Olson Max Alex Harvey (talk) 13:02, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Max Alex Harvey we are not censoring you, you are failing to provide the required level of evidence confirming the claims you are making. You need to provide reliable sources in the form of a n appropriately inserted reference once you've done this then it may be possible for your claims to be retained. Until you do this then they will keep being removed.Amortias (T)(C) 14:10, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Why did you revert the changes I made

There is no evidence this is a sanctioned Christian organization & labeling it as such is defamatory. 73.193.9.53 (talk) 19:46, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

There is no evidence of anything being a "sanctioned Christian organisation". The base beliefs of the organisation include the belief in Jesus and his return as part of a "second coming". Although the organisation may not be a shining example of Christianity there belief structure and their tenants and message do adhere to the wider beliefs of the Christian faith. Deletion of Shree Kshatriya Yuvak Sangh

Amortias Please can you tell me clearly what is problem in page, This is about an organisation which is very old and well known working for society but when anyone ( I too searched) search about it there is nothing on Wikipedia about it. There are multiple media and newspapers talking about it and have mentioned it. So I am requesting you to tell me clearly what is wrong in it and what changes are required. Shanusar (talk)

@Shanusar:. Organisations need to meet various criteria (as do all articles in Wikipedia) to have an article for an organisation it would need to show how it meets the criteria listed here. Once you have sufficient evidence of how the organisation meets these criteria then you will need to include this in the article using references (as you have done already for some of the information in the article). Please note that Wikipedia is not a business directory so will not contain entries for the majority of organisations throughout the world but only those that meet the criteria listed above. Deletion of Muhammad Talha Ansari

Hi Amortias!

I'm writing this in connection with your speedy deletion of my page titled 'Muhammad Talha Ansari'. I would like to know what I can do to edit the content of the page so that it can be undeleted. I cannot access the content at the moment since the page has been deleted today.

Regards ToofllabToofllab (talk) 16:19, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

@Toofllab: the article in question was deleted as it failed to show how the individual in question was notable and the article was also written in a promotional tone. the article in its pre-deleted state would not be suitable for inclusion in the encyclopaedia and would require a significant rewrite to allow it to be posted. It would be more efficient to read the above links to understand what you need to do and what to avoid and start over if you wish to reconsider the article for inclusion.
