User talk:Banes/Archive 16
Following a recommendation by Pilotguy at WP:ANI, I extended the block to indefinite due to the account being used for basically nothing but a campaign of harrassment combined with blatant vandalism. In retrospect I should have just suggested extending the block to you first, given that there's no urgency considering you only just blocked him for 48 hours, so I apologise for that. If you object to an indefinite block, please discuss here. --Sam Blanning(talk) 18:11, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Stressful?
[edit]Really? I find it's the opposite- if I've got loads of stuff sitting on my talk page it probably means I've got loads to do (as I try not to archive things that still need my attention)! Petros471 18:18, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ah ok. I find it easier to start selecting from the last post I'm archiving, then drag up towards the top, so there's less chance of overshooting, and it's easier to see when I need to stop. You can also use shift+keyboard arrows to select which gives more control. I don't bother doing it by number of topics, I generally archive either when I'm getting page to large warning, at the middle and end of month, when I feel like it, or when I've dealt with everything on the page, whichever one comes first! Petros471 20:14, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Glad I could be of some help :) Userpage scores: no, I didn’t think so... Not unless I sign up as spammer. People will be emailing you the scores, and then you can either announce them or pass the results on to the spammer to do so (the last two rounds I've generally announced them but made sure the spammer is around at the same time). Make sense? Petros471 21:54, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, but decided against it at the time. I also considered making my whole sig just link to talk page and/or add a simple (talk) link after my username but never really got round to it. As you can probably tell I'm a fan of simple signatures that take up a minimum of the edit window/diff screen, though a talk link won't stop that too much. Petros471 22:09, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

It's the thought that counts
[edit]It really is, too! Thanks for the thought of awarding me a barnstar, it's just as nice. :D I'm really excited about working with you (and everyone!) on the council too - it should be great. -- Natalya 22:06, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Sweet dear Daniel
[edit]Sweet dear Daniel, it's great to have you around when I need the most. It's amazing all the things we've been through since we first talked so many months ago, isn't it? Yet you have not changed in the least, always faithful, always caring, always sweet. I'll stop before getting to emotional - just thank you, my dear Dan, reading your beautiful words, as always, cheered me a lot.
I'll take the chance to congratulate you for being elected at the Esperanza elections - way to go, hun! I know EA will only benefit from having awesome people like you, Nat or Eric leading it. Hey, with so many friends in there, maybe someday I should move my lazy butt there and join once and for all! ;)
it's great to see you around, as always, hun - I'll make sure to visit you more often, even tho my motives are entirely selfish because I enjoy your company so much. Big, big hugs, Phædriel ♥ tell me - 23:52, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Catching up on my wiki replies
[edit][Catching up on where our conversation left of July 2...] Well, I'm sure no matter what college you choose will be great, and you'll do a marvelous job. I've actually signed up for the SAT in October now, so I'm getting more of an accurate idea of how you felt before you took yours!! It would be great if you could get to fly, but I do understand your parent's worries about joining the Air Force. Best wishes for your plan formulating...--ViolinGirl♪ 00:37, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

UPA Question
[edit]I posted a question regarding the Esperenza User Page Award on the talk page for the contest:
- EvocativeIntrigue's nominated user page contained (at the point of nomination) a fair use image. I removed it from his page. So what should I do: a) ask the nominator to re-evaluate the page to see if it's still nomination-worthy, b) give Evocative Intrigue some time to add other picture of he so desires, or c) just evaluate the page sans the image (like how it is now)? -- joturner 23:01, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
What do you think? -- joturner 15:17, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Congratulations on your first Wikibirthday (17 July), and thanks for the countless edits (actually we do have a way to count them :)), anyway, the best way to celebrate it is to go on a holiday ;). Best, feydey 23:11, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Daniel. Congratulations on your election to the Esperanza Advisory Council. Thanks for your support over the last few days. I am feeling better now and have started writing again. I made my first trip to New articles Australia for 53 days today (quite shocking isn't it), so it feels good to be back, and with the creation of Boy Charlton, David Theile and Malcolm Champion, the redlinks on Australian Olympic medalists in Swimming are now gone (after 7 months and 90+ articles). So hopefully I can get it ready for WP:FLC sometime. Many thanks again, Blnguyen | rant-line 08:13, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

More like disgusted
[edit]I suppose I have been stressed, but more like disappointed actually. I always defend others from off wiki attacks as much as I can...I don't condone it on wiki either of course. They decided to attack me simply because they can. I suppose I blocked a few trolls at some point, so they use these outside websites to get their revenge. Much like wikipediareview and hivemind, I do not see what purpose ED now serves by having a link here or even an article...mainly because it is hopelessly POV, difficult to accurately reference and a haven and or magnet for trollery. Thanks for the kind words and best wishes!--MONGO 03:59, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
User:Misza13's pile!
[edit]Thank you for contributing the impressive the pile of supports gathered on my RfA, which passed with a final tally of 0x0104/0x01/0x00. I'm happy that so many people have put faith in my abilities as an admin and promise to use the tools wisely and do my best not to let you down. Another Barnstar? I must have died and gone to wiki heaven ;)
[edit]Thanks Banes for your RAOK Barnstar! Everyone's been so kind, it's very overwellming :) I've never really spoken to you before, which is kind of bad of me, seeing as you're such a great user, but now's my chance.
You're a really great user, kind and an excellent leader. People like you and Natalya, I really look up to, so it means so much to hear that I'm doing good from you two ;)
Thanks for your kind appauds about my comment on the Esperanza talk as well. It's a shame that didn't turn out better :(
Anyway, I better go and put your kind award in my awards section. That page has really grown these last three days.
Thank you so much Banes, hope to speek to you again real soon! Thε Halo Θ 11:12, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

- Banes, I've been keeping a track of this conversation (it's been all over ;) and I feel like I should tell you that Minun is the subject of an arbitration case (under Iloveminun (talk · contribs)) and is likely facing a block of up to a year. If Minun is being jumped to the top of the queue, I wonder if his remaining time until the arbitration is finalised is enough to coach him sufficiently, since he has been asking various member of the Pokémon WikiProject to "teach me how to be a good editor." Just want you to utilise your skills as best you can. Cheers, Highway Return to Oz... 20:24, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Banes. I'm fine, although probably avoiding the mess is a good thing. Just been away for a week (due to illness not stress). WikiProject The Beatles Newsletter
| ||
Despite it being the lead news article of last month, there is still help required in the assessing of articles and the migrating of comments. Lar is willing to provide assistance to those unsure how to do this.
|
As mentioned in the Project News section, The Beatles article has just been listed for a review of its Featured Article status. Working on this is quite important. If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy! Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 005 – September 2006). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!

Complete To Do List
Make visible or invisible by clicking Show or Hide, respectively.
As the project is currently just starting, our more experienced editors are working on the project infrastructure, classifying articles, and listing/assessing red links. Your assistance is welcome. If you would prefer to just edit - and why wouldn't you? - we have a choice selection of red links to turn blue and articles to clean! Now let's get busy.
If you complete one of these tasks, please remove it from the list and add your achievement to the project log. |
- Want to help on next month's newsletter? Don't want to receive these in future? Don't want it subst'd next time? – It's all here.
