the band days[edit]

hey thanks for helping me finish the article on the band days... and nominating it for furthur review...Canadian (talk) 15:24, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the days[edit]

hey thanks a lot...i have written and contested it being deleted because this is as you stated a signed band to labels (albeit indie), but generally popular in the northern portion of chicago, it is a large city and their are many neighborhoods, but it is popular in albany park, edgebrook and sawganash. take care in iceland... its not cold now there is it? cause its pretty warm right now in Canada. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Canadian (talkcontribs) 15:37, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Skoal Tobacco[edit]

Hello and how are you? I recently posted on the skoal talk page. I listed some of the reasons why I feel this page should be kept. I will be working on overhauling the page and keeping an eye on it. If wikipedia is going to keep articles on separate brands of cigarettes than it should also have them on dip. Where I live more people use smokeless tobacco than who smoke. Gas Stations have more brands of dip than they do of cigarettes. This is often the case throughout the South of America. As such, unless all the brand pages of cigarettes are to be deleted as well, then this page should be kept. I'm also the creator of the Grizzly tobacco page. Check it out. Re: AGF[edit]

[1] - Why did you revert all my minor formatting changes to the article along with the See also edit - perhaps a mistake? Cirt (talk) 12:42, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No prob, quite understandable, I had assumed it was a simple mistake. No worries, Cirt (talk) 20:11, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: evert on Fula people (content removal by User:Abbarry)[edit]

Oopps, My bad. Seems like a reasonable reason to remove it. I thought it was the same Ibrahima Barry of the the 18th century Futa Djallon state, who's quite notable. After looking at what wikipedia has on this other I. B. fella, it seems a vanity article, and reasonable to remove him! Thanks for the heads up! Cheers, T L Miles (talk) 03:57, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

on the national register of historic places. Dlohcierekim 02:46, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for your note. Expansion is the cure for a small article. Not deletion. There is sufficient context in the article to see it is notable because the article says it's on the National Register of Historic Places. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 02

Thanks for your note. My suggestion would be that you hone your searching skills. :) Another alternative would have been to contact the creator, as the cite was unclear, and he might not realize that. Wikipedia is a collegial collaborative effort. Not to be rude or anything, but I think you might invest more time in building articles. The effort of researching could be refreshing. Dlohcierekim 03:37, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And yet you did not find the source to establish the claim of notability, and persisted in insisting that the article should be deleted. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 03:51, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, that was rude, arrogant and overly-sleep deprived. Dlohcierekim 14:23, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

declined speedy. national register of historic places. sufficient context and notability. Dlohcierekim 02:54, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, since you've continued the conversation with DGG, again expressing a personal opinion as a rationale for tagging an article, I gotta tell ya. My personal opinion is often at odds with current consensus. It's not a matter of personal opinion, but of our policies and guidelines that count.
I urge you to reread the CSD tagging criteria and to apply them rigorously from the standpoint of our goal being to build the encyclopedia. Deletion is to be used as the last resort. If there is any assertion of notability, it is not appropriate to tag for speedy deletion.
Also, number of Google hits is not a reliable gauge of notability. For some subjects, little is known. Therefore the article is necessarily small. Paucity of information does not equate to lack of notability. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 03:17, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

advice[edit]

Just for the record, my colleague Dlohcierekim expresses above the firm and undoubted consensus at wikipedia. You may additionally want to see WP:STUB about what makes a satisfactory start for an article. DGG (talk) 03:02, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your question ...[edit]

... has been answered. Hope it satisfies you, if not I can elaborate. —Calebrw (talk) 23:59, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

May I join here: "Oh, come on - she's one of the most famous dissidents in history. Want to delete Andrei Sakharov while you're about it?" You should be happy that I dedicate my time to add stuff ti Wikipedia. If you delete it, so what? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zandome (talkcontribs) 21:27, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:csd[edit]

...so I made the wrong call at Daníel Böðvarsson? TomStar81 (Talk) 03:24, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that TomStar made the wrong call: there was no real assertion of notability. Nevertheless, it's a perfectly reasonable request to have the article moved to userspace, so you can find the text at User:Iceflow/Daníel Böðvarsson. By the way, what's his father's name: Böðvar, or something else? Nyttend (talk) 12:45, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You got it in one, Nyttend. In the old format of Icelandic names, they worked thus: The last name was allocated according to the fathers name, so Böðvarsson means son of Böðvar. Females usually got -dottir instead of sson, indicating that they were female. So for example, Karlsdottir would be daughter of Karl. Thor Malmjursson (talk) 15:41, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me. See, I'ma relatively new admin and unfortunately the only way to gain experience with xfd material is get out to the RC page and kind of learn as you go. I'm new enough to RC patrolling that I'm only axing stuff I know would be deleted anyway, but part of the learning process is learning from ones mistakes, which is why I left the message; I wanted your opinion on the notability in this case so I can get a better feel for how to handle such situtations in the future. Thanks for the reply, the explanation was insightful and I will try to remember to suggest moving pages of this nature to article space the next time I spot one on the RC page. Sincerely, TomStar81 (Talk) 13:56, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Hello,
I am french so forgive me for my english. Unfortunately I can't speak Icelandic, and I look for someone who is able to translate this template into Icelandic. : Utilisateur SUL (commons:Template:User SUL is an english version (for translation to Icelandic)). I saw that you were busy but when you will have time, can you tell me if you know someone who can translate it? (maybe you :) ). Thanks in advance. AFD relisting[edit]

Please remember that when you relist an AFD, you have to then remove the transcluded page from that particular day's AFD log, and add it to the day on which you made the relist change. So for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peter MacGill, you would remove it from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 September 1 and add it to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 September 6. I had this same issue corrected by someone else myself recently, so don't worry about it. Thanks for helping out with the AFDs. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 00:54, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have time to chat, have to run out soon. But just remove {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peter MacGill}} from this page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 September 1, and add it to this one Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 September 6. Do the same for the others you relist, and you should be fine. Hope that is helpful, Cirt (talk) 01:07, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Scruff[edit]

Hello Iceflow. I am Gustronico from the Spanish Wikipedia. About your query, the name is Scruff in Spain too, but we don't have an article about this puppy yet. You'll find a few related articles about other productions if you search for Antoni D'Ocon. Gustronico (talk) 18:21, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Meddling[edit]

The comment from Newport Backbay left at 21:25 on 11 September 2008 is deemed inappropriate. I do not meddle in anything. I do what I am here to do, edit pages, start articles, and help to keep things running smoothly. :) Thor Malmjursson (talk) 23:43, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Holy Jubilee Catholic Elementary School[edit]

Thanks for the message on my talk page. It is my understanding that an article about a school is not a candidate for speedy-delete, no matter how poorly it is initially written. (If we speedy-deleted every article that was poorly written initially, we would be eliminating a lot of good future articles.) That is why I PRODed it. Further, it is my understanding that once a speedy-delete tag is removed, another should not be added. I see the article has been deleted. Maybe we can do this better in the future. (Note: I changed the section indent (equal signs) on 'RE: Meddling' above so this section would appear correctly in the TOC.) Truthanado (talk) 01:13, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Your huggle revert on Timothy goes to school[edit]

Hi Darth Panda. Just thought I would let you know that I am adding the information you reverted out of this article, back to it. The information is correct, was simply poorly formatted! Cheers! Thor Malmjursson (talk) 01:28, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that... I was probably going very quickly and did not notice it as such. Again, my apologies! DARTH PANDAtalk 20:27, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
