my dear friend , i am a Persian from Iran . if you see the persian version of gulf of Aqaba which its link address is this : http://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%AE%D9%84%DB%8C%D8%AC_%D8%A7%DB%8C%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%AA . its called "Gulf of Eilat : خلیج ایلات or شاخاب ایلات . so i want you to add this to english page , sorry my bad english , anyways i would thank you so much for adding such fact in that page because its mentioned that only israel calls it eilat gulf while iranians use the same name(eilat) , thanks alot my dear friend.2.176.37.59 (talk) 20:50, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

The Gulf does not border Iran, so there is no need to mention its Persian name in the article's lead section. Since it does border Israel and some Arabic speaking countries, the names used in those places are mentioned. Bazonka (talk) 17:58, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Whiteside Channel

Hi Bazonka,

I wonder you can't find any reference to "channel", because the only reference of the article is the United States, Hydrographic Office (1916). South America Pilot 2. p. 313, and there you can't find "Canal Whiteside" but "Whiteside Channel", in page 313 of course. I agree that "Canal" is more common in google. Since we can't transclude pages across project boundaries, we need a minimum of two - one on English Wikipedia, the other on Meta. I don't know of an efficient way that would allow those two to provide data for the other four; four because I didn't mention MediaWiki:Geonotice.js because Manchester 18, being more than four weeks away, doesn't yet qualify for that. Redrose, surely there's an easier (ie less insane) way of doing it? Surely we can find a way of making one edit per wiki rather than spending ages updating different pages all over the place, or perhaps a bot could check one page regularly and update the rest? Mahratta (in The Gothic Line section) and HML (in the Notable Personalities section) both still need to be disambiguated. I'm guessing but HML could be "His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant"? I can find no references to it on the web however which seems to suggest that it's maybe an overkill? The same letters are not present on Lord Brookeborough's article. I have Doherty's "History of the North Irish Horse" here so I'll look up Brookeborough and the Mahratta connection right now. The regimental history confirms that it was 20 Brigade (20th Indian Infantry Brigade) who the regiment supported at Monte Cavallo. The ORBAT for 20 Brigade shows it was the 3rd Battalion of the 5th Mahratta Light Infantry (3/5 Mahratta LI). So there's your answer. 3rd Battalion of the 5th Mahratta Light Infantry. I've tidied the page up a bit, and added some citation needed tags. Not ideal. Also, some of the references were missing URLs to The Examiner website, so I fixed them, but I couldn't save these because apparently The Examiner is on the WP:BLACKLIST (I didn't even know such a thing existed!), so I've had to change these to cn's as well. If you can't find any reliable (and not banned) sources, then you may want to consider removing all of this text, but it won't leave a very long article.
