Dear Bhadani, I find that the person who supplied the above photo misunderstood the terms of free licensing. I would therefor appreciate it if you could put this image up for speedy deletion. Much obliged Paul venter 14:49, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure or is it your guess? I personally feel that the grand mother may have supplied the picture for personal use of the recipient, but we should ask the recipient. What do you suggest? --old man 18:27, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect this misunderstanding has more to do with Paul Venter's views on the location of the image in the article Jonty Rhodes rather than a genuine misunderstanding on the part of the donator. Paul insisted that the photo should go where he wanted it to go, against the consensus in the talk page. Having failed have his own, he threatened to have the image deleted, as he has suggested here. I would suspect that either
  • a. The image was uploaded under a false license deliberately by Paul Venter, or
  • b. His assertion of misunderstanding on part of the donator is not entirely true, and should be substantiated.Rueben lys 18:51, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will come back with my comments, if any, after a couple of days. Thank you and regards. --Bhadani 16:58, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr.Bhadani

Over the last few months I have observed certain tendency amongst certain editors to try and delete everything remotely negative about Aiyar-in particular by Asprakash and Hornplease.Asprakash describes himself as a "proud Tamil" which is what I am-but I do believe that while it is important to include positive bits it is also imperative to include well referenced facts which may not be so positive particularly if they help us understand the person.Lately Hornplease deleted a bit about him which was referenced and sourced to Lok Sabha entries which to me is perfectly acceptable as a source. But I woudl value your opinion.By the way iw as not the one who included the bit in the first place.Regards(Vr 10:24, 12 March 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Hi. I will try to look into the matter. However, I am afraid that as I do not have much interest in the biographies of living persons, I may be of little help though I generally agree with your comments. --Bhadani 16:55, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bhadani, thank you for sorting out the Jonty Rhodes image. I have another problem with which I would appreciate your help. I started an article under the title of George Albu which was moved to Sir George Albu, 1st baronet and then moved to George Albu, 1st baronet. Wiki guidelines suggest that the suffix should never be used without the prefix, and that if possible the title should read plain John Smith or in this case George Albu. The system objects if I try to revert it, so could you please put the article back under George Albu. Much obliged Paul venter 06:42, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. I could not give attention to the issue due to real life issues, and shortage of time. Regards. --Bhadani 10:43, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot!

a new library on practical knowledge

[edit]

Good evening Gangadhar

I was in Madurai last month and I read an article about you in the press. I thought you might be interested by the project we launched earlier this year: www.howtopedia.org. It is a collaborative platform for practical knowledge and simple technologies, i.e. technologies that require no complex machine, that are easily explainable and usable by individuals or small communities for a sustainable and ecological future.
The idea is to create an empowering documentation for individuals and organisations who are trying to set up projects.
We are starting to collaborate with small organisations in India, Africa and South America. Maybe do you have ideas how to let the community grow around this project!
Hoping that you will find some interest in the project,
All the best for yours,

I thank you for the message, and wish the Project all the success. Right now, on account of existing commitments, it may not be possible to actively associate with www.howtopedia.org. I am enjoying the work I am doing in Wikipedia. I am a little surprised about higher responsibilities. Well, I am not really afraid but I feel that there are plenty of youngsters ready for higher responsibilities. As a result of their lower age, many of them could possibly be able to contribute substantially. There is no hurry. You can think it over. User name and edit history

[edit]

Hi, you left a welcome message on my talk page when I made my first edit in November, with the invitation to ask any questions I might have. I have one now ;-)

I finally created an account (user name Graf Bobby). Now, is there a way that my edit history up to now is transferred to my new user name? I found nothing about that on the help pages, maybe I just didn't know where to look exactly. — 213.47.127.75 18:57, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for creating an account here - that is, user ID. You may indicate on user page that you also did edits with IP 213.47.127.75. Perhaps there is no way to convert the edits done anonymously with an IP to your present user ID. I suggest, please indicate this fact, and continue to edit with your new ID. Thanks. --Bhadani 02:16, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spam?

[edit]

Hello...

I must admit that I am contacting you because I received an email asking that I contribute to a commercial website. I respectfully decline this offer.

However, I have also posted a notice to the Administrator's Notice Board: Incidents, as a result of your email to me. I am very upset that you elected to send me an email of this nature, and I am concerned that you sent a similar or same email to many other Wikipedians.

If you wish to discuss this, please post a message on my talk page.

Hires an editor 01:39, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Spammed by User:Bhadani. If you did in fact send these emails, I'm sure everyone would appreciate some indication of:
  • how many emails you sent
  • where you got the list of users to send such emails to (Hires an editor is hardly a particularly active user)
  • under what circumstances you believe mass-mailing something unconnected with Wikipedia to multiple users without their consent to be appropriate
and most importantly your reassurance that it won't happen again.
Thanks – Qxz 02:31, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My response - [2] - [3]. --Bhadani 03:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your explanation. In future, if you do wish to contact users regarding a project (external or internal), I would recommend using talk pages rather than email, and only contacting those users who have expressed interest in the subject (from your description, it sounds like you went through a page history and emailed everyone on it, which is generally a bad idea). Thanks again for your understanding – Qxz 03:21, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I consider this matter closed. Thank you for your response. Hires an editor 11:41, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you all for guiding me in the matter. This spirit shows the resilience of wikipedia community - I now understand better the level of collective maturity of the wikipedians, and any other wiki should draw inspiration from such level of maturity to deal with the matters. Regards. --Bhadani 16:10, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For my future reference. --Bhadani 16:19, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Happy First Edit Day, Bhadani/Archive19, from the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! Have a great day!

Hello Bhadani! This is about the RFC on Hamsacharya_dan filed on 6 April 2006. COI has been confirmed about this person onConflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Yogiraj_Gurunath_Siddhanath and, given his long history of edit warring (to the point that RFC was filed against him), I believe that you have to drop Occam's razor finally. Overwhelming evidence proves that he is no other than the sole contact person in charge of media relations in Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath's organization, which disqualifies him from editing the article because given the facts (and supported by previous happenings) it would be impossible for him to edit Yogiraj Gurunath Siddhanath and related articles like Mahavatar Babaji, Kriya Yoga, Guru, Nath, etc. with a neutral point of view. Thank you. - Watchtower Sentinel 21:30, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let me first study the matter. Ok. --Bhadani 02:23, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to contact you on another matter, and am surprised to see this. However, please see: Wikipedia:Suspected_sock_puppets/Watchtower_Sentinel. Also, please note that the user that created that RfC page has been banned for sockpuppet abuse.
Actually, what I was wondering was, you recently contacted me at my email address for assistance with Wikia project - I don't have much knowledge in the area of finance, but if you need any help with sanatana dharma or molecular biology and neurobiology, do let me know. Also, how do you use the email feature in wikipedia to contact members by email? --Hamsacharya dan 09:21, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I thank you for your message. Using e-mail feature of Wikipedia is easy - you have to click E-mail this user link on the left sidebar, and if the user has registered his/ her e-mail with Wikipedia, a page will be displayed where you may write your message and send to the user. You may also mark a copy to you for your record :) However, I understand now that the e-mail feature should be used for matters pertaining to Wikipedia only and spams should not be done. In case, you are interested to write about Sanatana Dharma, you may write here or any other wikis, including India Wikia (not related in anyway to Wikipedia, which please note). You may also contact your friends interested in writing about India, to express their creativity at Wikia India, of course depending on their inclination and time. As regards the RFC matters indicated above, I feel that we have a tendency to blow matters out of proportions at times, and waste a lot of valuable time. Certain contents are not useful for encyclopedias like Wikipedia, and people should search other avenues as I have been doing for last several months by contributing to Wikias. I am doing this also with a view to understand more clearly the phenomenon of emergence of online communities from nascent stage to a stage of maturity. --Bhadani 16:17, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some help

[edit]

Hi, I saw your edits to issues related to Direct Action Day and would like to get your attention to a matter of serious misrepresentation:

A new user named

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Teabing-Leigh

has started a bunch of bullshit POV forks based on unreliable pakistani propaganda websites and afrocentric pseudohistory propaganda

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gandhi%27s_racism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahomed_Ali_Jinnah%27s_11th_August_speech http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gandhi%27s_views_on_race

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_League%27s_Civil_Disobedience_Movement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_League%27s_Direct_Action_Day

are both POV forks of

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_Action_Day

Some of them have been AfD'ed, but others remain.I suggest in the strongest terms that these articles be deleted immediately. The references cited in Direct Action Day by this editor are falsely represented by him and not in the citations given (I am well-familiar with them). In contrast, he has removed numerous references that did, in fact, exist before that were reliable.

In particular, this website: http://www.cwo.com/~lucumi/gandhi.html

cited by him across these numerous articles,

Is an Afrocentric pseudohistory website with no mainstream credibility.

Thanks for your attention. Kjartan8 12:37, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for your mail message. However, I think that the community of wikipedians are intelligent to understand the issues involved and over a period of time the collective efforts shall prevail to build encyclopedic contents. Hi Bhadaniji, I had a question for you in response to your comments on my talk page if you have a minute. - Taxman Talk 18:05, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi nice to find you on my page. Yes. I am here only. --Bhadani (talk) 18:07, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It should be: मैं समझ सकता हूँ और मैं बोल सकता हूँ. This is better. But, you are really great! --Bhadani (talk) 18:14, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You should jump into the mud more often. too much pseudo-aryan migration crap is going on wikipedia. Many are admins who are writing this and they threaten others. Some admins won't even do a thing to stop it. Noble eagle has left wikipedia. an afr has been filed on freedom skies. I think wiki is going down the tube. it's really not the same as it was.--D-Boy 06:07, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. For all practical purpose, I have stopped doing any edit to wikipedia, and may be treated as having "left" for the time being as there is no meaning to talk with a section of editors who want to harm the long term interests of wikipedia. Perhaps there are many who shall be around to help wikipedia maintain its creditability. Regards. --Bhadani (talk) 06:14, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have basically left too. It's not worth staying around. they took the swatika off our welcome template. I felt this was self censorship and ignorance. another 50 years of censorship for it. They took off the indian flag on wikiproject template because some paks were complaining it was nationalist. I felt extremely betrayed by dagizza and dab abuse his powers as an admin.--D-Boy 06:25, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I do not have any comments to offer - I do not feel anything except that majority of the persons are not aware of so many things, and actions based on ignorance look highly funny and ludicrous. It is interesting :) and a good pastime to watch their action. In case, you want, just hang around like me, and watch the drama: many elements of national socialism may be marauding the length and breadth of wikipedia in innocent incarnations - who knows? Please also understand that there is life beyond wikipedia - for exmaple you may come to Wikindia for a change, and It is strongly recommended that users create accounts there to avoid impersonation:[7]. --Bhadani (talk) 06:34, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dangerous-Boy, can you please provide an instance when I "abused my admin powers." According to my memory, I gave a warning to you about not adhering to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy. It is one thing to have strong points of view but another to lie to people. Come on now., you know better. You don't tend to see things from a practical perspective. We are here to build an encyclopedia, not to glorify Indian and Hindu culture. As Bhadaniji has suggested, WikiIndia may be a better place for that. I plead to you to just respect other people's perspectives. It is obvious that you haven't read the Bible, Koran or the Vedas for that matter. And neither have I. Calling the Aryan-Migration theory crap is not helping Wikipedia in any way. Opposing the theory is up to you and nobody is preventing you to freely believe in whatever you want to believe in. But if linguists and archaeologists all around the world after years of study have concluded that an Aryan Migration is probable, it doesn't mean they have any anti-Indian agenda. Many of these people are fascinated with Indian history and culture. Dab himself said he enjoys studying Vedic civilisation.
All I want you to understand is that Wikipedia respects and represents all points of view, no matter how bizarre. I you wish that one day the Islam article will say it is a barbaric evil religion , this is not the place for you. I hope that such as day never comes from any perspective. Wikipedia will crumble if it becomes, anti-Hindu, anti-Islam, anti-atheist, anti-socialist, anti-Harry Potter or anti-anything. You can always create your own wiki, just Conservapedia if want an encyclopedia with a Hindutvaadi perspective. Just remember one thing that Shri Krishna says in the Gita: "I look upon all creatures equally; none are less dear to me and none more dear." If everyone, whether it be Indian/Pakistani/Macedonian follows Bhagawanji's own view, everyone will edit and improve the encyclopedia peacefully and having lots of fun along the way. Best wishes and have a nice day! GizzaChat © 09:58, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Gizza for coming to my page. I am still clueless to offer comments on so many points, except asserting that I have read all the books you have referred to, and did not find much difference in them - perhaps all paths lead to one point ONLY about which I (like countless other souls) am not aware of exactly. --Bhadani (talk) 10:10, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Deleted comments & my reply - in more than two years, I may have so deleted hardly two or three comments from talk page. This one was highly conceited. --Bhadani (talk) 15:59, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Moreover, I do not like person/s uploading images and symbols associated with Nazis. --Bhadani (talk) 16:03, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia should stop direct or indirect glorification of Nazism - this is my personal opinion, and others are free to follow the call of their conscience. --Bhadani (talk) 16:19, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's doublespeak. You act as a propagandist of pro-Nazi Hindutva ideology and delete the comments of Dab who is one of the ablest exterminators of Hindutva pov crap. It is the ideology that you helps propagate which embodies Nazism now.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 59.91.253.183 (talkcontribs).

The use of Bhang is unhealthy and has many unsavory side effects huh sockpuppet of Rudrasharman (talk · contribs)?Bakaman 21:49, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Baka, why do you accuse the anon of being Rudra? Yes that anon is a troll but without any evidence, all you are doing is lighting a match and hoping for someone to provide some petrol. I think my previous comments which were directed as Dangerous-Boy should also inspire you to act in a more neutral manner while editing Wikipedia. Just because somebody, such as Rudra, has differing views with you on many topics does not mean every anon that vandalises your page is Rudra. Just like D-Boy, you are a very capable Wikipedian and have shown that with your contributions to East Indian history. However, you must realise how fragile Wikipedia is and that its success depends upon everyone understanding as well as following the Neutral Point of View policy. Not respecting other views and people will only cause further detriment to your time on Wikipedia. GizzaChat © 05:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
DaGizza, Dbachmann does the same thing. Everyone opposing him is a sock of hkelkar, win, or rajput. If wikipedias finest can do it, I'm merely apeing their behavior in the hopes that I too can become a great admin just like dbachmann. Monkey see, monkey do. I follow NPOV as is visible on the Sri Lankan topics where I have been as neutral as possible. However if the facts are biased, wikipedia is obligated to report it. Btw Gizza, I am more inspired by Ragib (talk · contribs) and Rama's Arrow (talk · contribs), users that do not feel the need to be weak in the face of trollish behavior. Both have reinforced that being a block of stone in the face of overwhelming trolling is the correct way to operate.Bakaman 15:57, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Amen.--D-Boy 10:40, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So my page is seeing a lot of fireworks - let the fire of truthfulness burn inside all the humanity. Let the neo-Nazis marauding as saviours of wikipedia face the wrath of all humanity! amen!. --Bhadani (talk) 19:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And, my dear 59.91.253.183, Dab does not require support of anonymous IPs - he is well supported and he has a standing in a particular section of wikipedians. --Bhadani (talk) 19:58, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I saw something interesting about Dab somewhere. I talked with that Dab too :) --Bhadani (talk) 20:03, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, Bhadani. Next I talk to you about something, please do not draw the attention of others. true, this is the internet for all to see but the less the attention the better. otherwise, i do not feel comfortable about messaging you about such issues.--D-Boy 10:45, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I respect your right of privacy. However, if you message me on my talk page, other editors may come and comment. Please do not feel uncomfortable - please also feel free to send me wikipedia-mail.

disruptive editor

[edit]

Could you please contribute to persuading this editor [8] to stop inserting original research statements and violating WP:Point on Direct Action Day? He seems quite determined to attack the article. He seems to basically be the same as Teabing-leigh. Kjartan8 06:46, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Development:He has violated WP:3RR on Direct Action Day with 4 reverts. I have reported him to 3RR as seems to be the procedure. I am new so could you please check my report to see if it's ok? Kjartan8 07:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Development: he appears to have a sock puppet named YLH which he is now using to bypass 3rr and has gone to 6 reverts, removing my tags and all. How to complain about this? Please assist me. Kjartan8 07:40, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Development: I have started Wikipedia:Suspected_sock_puppets/Teabing-Leigh. Is this okay? Please comment. Kjartan8 08:05, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is getting late in India - almost mid night. I will try to talk next day if I find time. Thanks. --Bhadani (talk) 20:00, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to look into the issues soon. I have to move to my Office early as today is the last day of the India's financial year. Thanks. --Bhadani (talk) 02:01, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I saw the comments. Though I have completed 2 years at Wikipedia, still I am not very familiar with many processes of wikipedia. I suggest you to request another administrator - there are many who are expert of such affairs. I regret my inability. However, I would suggest that with cool discussion and sometimes moving to other pages for few weeks make the issues settle down to a more rationale level though I am not sure. However, my comments should not be taken as de-motivating: wikipedia is so big that one may always find other pages to work on. Thanks. --Bhadani (talk) 15:13, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A question

[edit]

Bhadani, What is the fine line between spam and truly mentioning a legit company? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Weisheit (talkcontribs)

Perhaps commonsense. And, the context too. --Bhadani (talk) 15:17, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Examples

[edit]

I am trying to record some peculiar edit summaries, and to begin with I have started some specimen from User:Dbachmann's edit summaries - this shall give me many examples (of wikipedia-trivia) for my forthcoming book: [9]. --Bhadani (talk) 18:57, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some examples of edit summary:

  1. huh
huh was the edit summary. Was it foolish or funny? [10]
  2. just a little bit tongue-in-cheek, no?
Behind the innocuous looking summary is veiled something different
  3. Forgetting to write edit summary for important issues.
Partner will come to support and it will be closed. One should not predict as wikipedia is not predictology. --Bhadani (talk) 10:01, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Bhadani's blah bla bal: [11] - [12] - [13] - [14]
    Please don't turn the Wikipedia into Blah...Blah. --Bhadani (talk) 17:01, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
eccentric talk is better than eccentric content - I could not help if I was reminded of the greatest bastard of human history though there are many smaller ones too.
  5. wikipedians define a troll, and everyone gets the enlightenment
  6. Another zealot has come to light, it seems, sigh
Sometimes, I used to get worried about the editors physical or mental state [15] after spotting such edits. However, Now I understand that some wikipedians have more rights than the others.
