Picts

Hi Jim - I amended the edits you reverted at Picts, purely because I felt they were not well applied. Outside references to the Keltoi of Gaul, and as a modern linguistic construct, the term Celtic is used too freely. And given how misuderstood the Picti are, I felt it necessary to avoid more. Hey, need your input here

Would you mind putting on your Administrator's hat for a minute? Someone created a new category which I find unnecessary- please see my comment on the talk page for Category talk:Song recordings produced by Lloyd Maines. Maines is the father of Dixie Chicks' vocalist, Natalie Maines. He worked as an occasional sideman for them playing pedal steel guitar. There is a 60 Minutes interview I saw on You Tube with Natalie Maines from either this or last year, where she said she doesn't want to continue musically with sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison ever again, so I surely don't see that Lloyd will be producing any more songs from them at the least. If so, it would be some time in the future with a different lineup or different band(s). What are your feelings on this? BTW- I've missed you more than anybody here on Wikipedia. I an willing to try to get back in my groove cleaning up articles here, doing the photo stuff, but I need you to help bring me up to speed in weeks to come. An example would be teaching me where the Flickr upload tool is there. After that coma I was in, I'd lost use of almost every muscle in my body (atrophy) and most of my short term memory, so I'll have to take it slower. Did I email you an explanation about what took place? Let me know-- if not, I will do so. Thanks!! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 13:17, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi Leah, nice to hear from you. I'm not particularly active on WP now and am too busy in real life to be much of a help here, but if you want to question the suitability of a category you could raise it at WP:CFD. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 17:09, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

Hey there- needing your skills

I sent some of this concern of mine to User:Orangemike, who wasn't personally interested in this, but not against this either. I believe the following is a bad trend and I'm still incredibly ill and it's hard to spend time on the computer. What do you think of this? Over the years, I've noticed all kinds of violations for the biography of John Legend. In this case though, the templates placed by external links now have a "new" banner referring to a record company founded by Kanye West, labeled "GOOD Music" by a Grammy Banner-- I have strong doubts that it is permissible-- too "spammy" because now I've seen yet another record label template like this one. Where will this end? I wouldn't have begun working on this project -a free encyclopedia all those years ago, if I thought it would bloom into some promotional vehicle teeming with misinformation on so many pages! Where does it end?! I feel if not placed in check all the other labels (both prominent and indie) might all have their own versions below all musicians' articles, and for some old timers that could take a dozen templates cramming the external links parking lot. Would you please have a look at it, and figure it all out? Thanks- it's been a long time, eh? BTW, I honestly have missed you, my brother! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 04:40, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Catfish Jim and the soapdish. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:40, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
