Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help – and soon – your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it – no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

Cześć Daniel! Oglądałem sobie w piątek fragment niemieckich Milionerów. Włączyłem RTL około 20:40 i akurat grał jakiś facet, pamiętam ze 6 albo 7 pytanie miał o Madonnie i wziął publiczność, a dziesiąte pytanie miał o koronach (walutach). I wtedy brat mi przełączył. Nationality of the Fauxharmonic

Your categorizations of the Fauxharmonic Orchestra raise some pretty interesting philosophical questions. To start, what is the nationality of the musicians? Reverting Kamil & Szymon

I reverted Kamil Glik and Szymon Matuszek's entries in the Madrid C outgoing transactions because both players were using their first names as their playing names. In Spain, players can use their birth names, a nickname or any combination of the two as their playing name. Both players were listed in the two local sports dailies, Real Madrid's website and the Madrid football federation by their first names. naming of Raions

hi there,

thank you for starting all these new Raions articles on Ukraine. Please be aware that in keeping with Wikipedia's English language policy, the Ukrainian adjective "-skyi" is not used. So it should be "Zhydachiv Raion" and not "Zhydachivskyi Raion", named after the capital city. Hi there, if you like dates first: yes, probably better for 'list of terms'. But may I ask why you delete the ndash? MOS on longer periods and Wikipedia:Manual of Style#En dashes use the 1900–1978 version? I want to change the 'leaders list' into a table sometimes soon and will change the dates back to ndash. The list was taken from the category on Polish wikipedia. All of the people have articles on Polish wikipedia and I'd hesitare to guess that this nominator is confusing missing content with notability. Dr. Blofeld ^{White cat} 09:59, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

I started a few earlier like Norbert Aleksiewicz and they are obviously notable. In fact the majority seme to be have been members of the sejm at one point so are very notable and meet guidelines. In fact there are indded many missing from this list too. I think this nominator saw a lot of red links and assumed they weren't notable, which is silly as we are missing asimilar huge amount of articles on German, Ukrainian and Italian politicians too. Our Project has been operational since 1 June, 2005, and also serves as the Poland-related Wikipedia notice board. I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; in this year alone about 40 threads have been started on our discussion page, and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised. Reverted your additions of redundant parent categories

Greetings, DK4. I have reverted several recent edits of yours in order to remove redundant parent categories that you have added. "American swimmers" is the parent category of "Olympic swimmers of the United States"; proper categorization per Wikipedia policy is never to include both a parent cat and a subordinate cat in the same article. I believe that I caught all of your additions of "American swimmers" to the members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic swim team, but you may want to check your edits to Olympic swimmers of other nationalities. Editing policy and alleged vandalism

Hi DK4, You recently reverted one of my posts about Tomasz Majewski alleging "vandalism". You should be aware that vandalism is defined in Wikipedia as "the addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia". I admit I didn't add a reference for the information I added (in fact, there is no way of referencing information which simply consists of the inclusion of new categories at the foot of the Wikipedia page) – there was certainly no attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you – and that you could help us maintain and develop: we have an active assessment department. As of now, our project has tagged almost 83,000 pages as Poland-related – that's an improvement of over 3,000 new pages since the last newsletter. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic).
