Sadly, I have had to revert the template to the div version, as the JavaScript functions search for and specifically interact with the div tagging. Your carefully adjusted table version has been copied to User:Rupert Clayton/slideshow template (table format). HTML at Middle Ages[edit]

I experimented with this as you suggested with the following results. First: my browser is Safari, and viewing your edit in the preview pane didn't resolve the issue. What eventually worked was this markup, excluding the "nowiki"s:

Thanks for the courteous response... and apologies for missing your post. I could blame the holidays (and to some extent, legitimately can), but it was more likely a near in time post banner message was the next I saw coupled with my normal preoccupation of having twenty irons in the fire all at once on this project... I sortof just keep going where and whenever I have to leave off whatever the day or time... and so I just 'now' saw your message. (Heck, I talk to myself out loud too much as it is... I'd really be in bad shape if I started talking to myself on my talk too! <g>)
Insofar as your 'data' goes, makes perfect sense. The various browsers seem to have "issues" on the corners of HTML blocks, and inserting the FixHTML/FixBunching forces alignment by placing the contents in table structures. IIRC, I did not put a 'mid' call between the two, and Safari isn't one I've tried (Is that Unix platforms?). Sadly, my main computer and most of my browsers currently are in the repair shop, so say a prayer! <g> Hope the hard drive is alive at least!
FYI, the 'pre' block command can show things a bit better in many cases, as it essentially is equivalent to putting a nowiki on each end of a line, and letting the newlines do there thing:

With respect to the article... Danged if I can find an edit summary suggesting it was removed after this one... but bottom line, sometimes one just has to throw some spagetti against the wall to see how much sticks. Looks like this lot didn't.
Intuitively, disabling the "float Right" as shown in the commented version you report should be fine, and constrained (on most browsers) by the table element. Safari apparently gives a different order of precedence to elements, and prioritized the right float higher... or something like that. RU sure you needed to comment out the float command "<!--|R=1 -->"? Or the other, or did you add the {{FixBunching|mid}} after? Hmmmm my edit looks to me to be identical to your "success", so what the heck are we talking about anyway?
In any event, the issue is probably moot. This society is bound and determined to not give sister projects any free publicity, and so far as I'm concerned, putting things down in external links is about the same as saying "this is unimportant, you can stop reading now". Sigh.

The delay was no problem, I figured you were wikibreaking for the holidays. To answer a few questions: I'm using OS X, and, starting with your edit, all I did was to delete
{{TOCnestright|before=
at the top, and eliminate a pair of curly brackets at the end of the whole sequence (my HTML skills are minimal at best, so I didn't do anything creative). Just now I tried removing the commenting-out, resulting in:

This displays a bit tidier than the version I reported above; The boxes now align with the jpg at upper right, where before they were too far left, not flush with either side of the jpg.
Personally, I don't think putting things into external links consigns them to oblivion, as they're easy to find there and users quickly learn that they're worth exploring. Simple English is another matter, well hidden among languages where users are unlikely to look for it; until it was pointed out to me last month I had never noticed it. All the best in the new year! Category redirects[edit]

I see that you re-inserted the "#REDIRECT" directive that my bot removed from Category:1632 series templates sub-templates. The bot has now removed it again. The reason for this is that category redirects don't work as you might expect. Suppose Category:Foo bar is a redirect to Category:Fubar. If someone mistakenly puts "[[Category:Foo bar]]" at the bottom of an article, the wiki software will not list that article on the correct category (Fubar). Instead, the article will appear on the redirect page, but since it is a redirect, users won't ever see it unless they specially request it. Therefore, we use "soft redirects" by means of the {{category redirect}} template, instead of the built-in "hard" redirect feature, on category pages. --Russ (talk) 17:22, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi R'n'B! Actually, your BOT isn't working the way I supposed, and disposed of nearly a year back... but that's one wiki-weakness, I guess!

re: Old Discussion here... but start by reading the short section above...
   IMHO, This should have been SOP long ago now as a result of most all CFD discussions and so forth involving merges and renaming,... and if you're running the BOT now, you need be aware the system software will be supporting (If it doesn't already) such redirects... they are badly needed on the commons for example. The wrench in the works is RobertG's departure. He'd sent me a url to the BOT, but I was in no situation to take over last spring/summer... I was about to have the place remodeled, which took until last week... meaning I've been working off only my laptop in the iterim.
  • More to the point, regardless of where the "listed" article occurs, if one navigates using the category link, one gets the to page I wanted them at... note the category name in question is a spelling variant... call it a "memory patch" for me too-fast approaching senility.

Keep in mind this is an excerpt from the book. Winni does not appear in it elsewhere, it is an interesting 'slice-of-life' / 'stuff in the background' / interlude' for the rest of the book. Jacek Dukaj is commonly 'accused' of having too many great ideas :) He invents stuff and uses them only in short stories or even tinier excerpts like this, stuff that others would be happy to develop into a book if not a series :) And yes, there is some technobabble; most of which is explained elsewhere in the books, but Dukaj has the habit of inventing much of terminology for his worlds, which can be a b**** in translation (I had to email him to ask for explantions for some of the abbreviations :>). PDP, for the record, stands for this.
