Re: Kyle McMahon

[edit]

Hi, FeerTheDeer! Thanks for the note, and I appreciate your efforts with the Kyle McMahon article. Certainly I have no bias against this person or anyone who helped with the article's creation. As is true with most editors at AfD, I am merely making an evaluation based on the information available. Reasonable people can (and often) disagree, especially during AfD discussions, so staying civil is paramount. I'm glad you didn't take my observations personally, and I wish you luck your future contributions on Wikipedia! Cheers,  Gong show 16:46, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Alerting the authors

[edit]

As an experienced Wikipedian (and an admin locally), I would like to encourage you to continue to notify the author(s) of an article if proposed for deletion in the future! It is important that author(s) know about such discussions so that they can bring up any points that might otherwise be ignored/not noticed at the AfD. The only caveat is that you should say that you have done so before they show up, so that we know that the new users commenting are the authors.

Unfortunately, some new users think that numbers have more of an influence on the discussion than they really do, so they violate our rules on sockpuppeting to try to artificially try to make it look like they have more support than they do. This approach virtually never works, but people still try it. Letting us know ahead of time that you've asked for the creators' input helps minimize the suspicion of this behavior so that the discussion can remain focused on its merits.

Thanks for your contributions and happy editing! – Philosopher Let us reason together. 20:01, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
