Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Jenni Rivera, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. The usage of flags on biography articles on the English Wikipedia is inappropriate per WP:INFOBOXFLAG. Orphaned non-free image File:Jenni Rivera (July 2,1969-December 09,2012) Mexican-American singer-songwriter.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Jenni Rivera (July 2,1969-December 09,2012) Mexican-American singer-songwriter.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Replaceable fair use File:Jenni Rivera (July 2,1969-December 09,2012) Mexican-American singer-songwriter.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Jenni Rivera (July 2,1969-December 09,2012) Mexican-American singer-songwriter.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Erick (talk) 19:16, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Jenni Rivera template

Hello Gavino.duron! I just thought I let you know that I created the template for Jenni Rivera. Cheers! Erick (talk) 08:24, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

Gavino, please don't use just the url for references. You need to have the title of the page or article, the name of the author if one is listed, the date it was written, and the date you visited them (access date). Use Template:Cite web for websites or Template:Cite news if the source comes from a news site. You can also use "Cite" which is listed after "Help" on the editor toolbar which will assist you on filling in references. Thank you. Erick (talk) 11:11, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Lo Nuestro missing nominations

So I noticed that you started a sandbox for Lo Nuestro Award for Regional Mexican Female Artist of the Year. The nominations for the 1989, 1990, 1994, 1995, and 2000 are not available online, but I do have the articles that have them available. I can e-mail you the articles which has those nominations if you wish. Erick (talk) 01:24, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

@Magiciandude: I have noticed that when searching for the nominations, and that would be fantastic if you could.
-Gavino.duron (talk) 01:34, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
Done Couple of pointers: first, don't republish these articles anywhere of course sine they're copyrighted. I used the Resource request to get these articles. Make sure you put "subscription required" when using them as sources (as a reference, see Lo Nuestro Award for Pop Song of the Year). This article has the 2000 nominees for the Regional Mexican Female Artists of the Year, but it's a complete of nominees, so I've e-mailed the whole 2000 nominees as well. Lastly, the winners before 2001 can be found here. If you have any other questions, let me know. In regards, Erick (talk) 02:06, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

I received a mail delivery system error when I sent an e-mail to you. Is your e-mail address the proper one or working? Erick (talk) 15:40, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Regional Mexican taskforce

Hey Gavino, I'd like to let you know there is know a task force dedicated to Regional Mexican music which can be found here. Cheers, Erick (talk) 19:18, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jenni Rivera Fashion, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages South California and American. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Quick guide

Hi again Fundude99! I just wanted to provide some useful links for you if you have ever thought improving an article substantially (like maybe Jenni Rivera or one of her albums or songs). Here are some links:

  • If you want to nominate or review an article for a Good article, go here. The instructions are found at WP:GAN/I.
  • To nominate an article for featured article, go here. Note that Featured Article Candidates goes under much more scrutiny than a good article nomation.
  • If you have an interesting trivia wish to share and have it appear on the main page, nominate an article at WP:DYK. An article must be newly created, expanded fivefold, or has been promoted GA within the past five days.
  • The Guild of Copy editors is available if you need an article to be copy edited for its prose (that is, proper spelling and grammar).
  • If you want to receive feedback for an article, go to peer review.

That's about it, if you have further questions or need further assistance, just let me know. In regards, Erick (talk) 15:23, 3 November 2014 (UTC) Just one more thing I forgot, we have something called a Manual of Style for each specific areas including biographies and music. Happy editing! Erick (talk) 03:48, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Fundude99, I know you mean well and I don't fault your intention, but you may wish to consider reading Alternatives to deletion. Generally, an article's deletion should be used as a last resort if no improvements can be made or there are no reliable sources anywhere on the Internet for the article (exceptions being articles used for promotion and attack pages of course where you should use Speedy deletions). Unnecessary addition of external image

Hello! Please do consider the matter of unnecessary addition of an external image in Sophie Hunter's page. She's not a model whose appearance is pivotal to her profile nor is the external image notable in her body work. Other pages don't have photos in their infoboxes either and they still exist and work as a page even without an external image. The image the user keeps on inserting is also not solely of Hunter's appearance as she is with somebody else in the photo. This is not at all a very good representation or even rational to have an external image in the page.

RE: GA Nomination

Anyone who has not heavily contributed to an article may review it for GA. Looking at the article right now however, it is likely to be quick-failed upon review because it doesn't meet the Good article criteria and here's why. First off, the purpose of the lead (the opening paragraphs) is to summarize the body of the article (see WP:LEAD). The lead for Jenni mentions her winning a Latin Billboard Award, but it's not mentioned anywhere else in the body of the article. Second, and the biggest problem, is that it's not very broad. There's no background which is suppose to help readers understand how this album came to be or what Jenni Rivera between this album and the last album nor is there a recording or production information on when and how this album was produced. Then you have the singles section on the infobox, but no information about the singles themselves. I would suggest withdrawing the nomination for now (just simply delete it from the talk page). To give you a good idea of what an ideal good article would like, look at Contra la Corriente (Marc Anthony album) which was my first GA in 2010. My inspiration for that came from Para Siempre the first ever article about a Spanish-language album to be GA. Of course there's also Joyas Prestadas. Examine those articles and see what you can take from them to improve Jenni. Good luck! Erick (talk) 04:31, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
